And our Mystery Guest Designer for September is....

TESSA ANN WATTE!

Woohoo!! Take a minute and check out her blog in the blog roll over on the right hand side. You won't be disappointed with all the fun things you will find there. And click over to her etsy shop too for super cute little goodies to jazz up your work!

Wait until you see what she has in store for you this month. Gorgeousness! She is working with the Memory Lane kit, so if you have that one in your stash, or have the papers that were in it, you will want to check in every Monday for some fantastic inspiration!

Welcome Tessa Ann!! I'm so glad to have you with us! :)

Making ribbon flowers

I have a little technique that adds a bit of a different dimension to your layouts and it uses ribbon!

Here I just made a simple card and I have ribbon, a paper piercer, brads and scissors.

First, cross the ribbon; making a "v".

To make that "v" hold, place a brad through the 2 layers.

Using your paper piercer you can make a hole where you want the top of the heart to be.

You then flip over the ribbon to create the rest of the heart.

Secure by using brads.

Here is a layout I did using this same technique but the ribbon was thinner (and I think looks a bit better).

Hope you enjoyed it!

Homeroom and Extra Credit

Thi sis a sneek peek at the mini i am doing with this kit! I cannot tell you how much i have had fun with it. The main kit is sold out so if you purchased one keep your eyes peeled for LOTS of inspiration everyday. The add on which is called "extra credit" has only 5 remaining and at $13.99 you cannot beat that deal. You can get it here.

I scanned a copy of Mason's last spelling test and a few other test that i plan on scrapping. This kit gave me the perfect papers and the perfect opportunity to get that in a book. All contents are from the main kit and the extra credit.

Have a great long weekend....I am preparing for Hurricane Gustav that should make landfall Monday or Tuesday sometime....grrrrrrrr!!!!

Happy Labor Day!
Greta

Our beautiful baby BOY

Here's a quick LO I did this afternoon from the current Pencil Lines sketch. I used papers from both the Extra Credit and Homeroom kits (ack, sold out!). I also added a new Maya Road chipboard tree and bird, which I painted. I finished it off with some of those essential small MM letters! TFL and please feel free to leave a comment! Happy long weekend everyone!

Need some Color Inspiration

This week's challenge has been brought to you by the letters "m" and "L".
okay so that was stupid... the ever so fabulous Michelle Lanning has challenged us and you to a color combo inspired by Pottery Barn. Be sure to check back tomorrow on the challenge blog here for your inspiration.

These are mine:

supplies used are: bazzill shaped cardstock in parakeet and bazzil CS in brown, Martha steward lace punch, puffy chit chat thickers in tangerine, and Vinyl Thickers in Vera Taffy,
Prima Essential 4 flowers, some Heidi Swapp Bling, buttons and my crop o dile to punch the circles in the scallops.

and another for the challenge

supplies used were some scraps of pink on pink houndstooth paper mixed with some Scenic Route Laurel, some sheer ribbon, KI Memories Alphabet soup acrylic letters in fondue a creative cafe orange button, felt flower in pink from unknown, AC felt flowers in greenhouse (all from my stash) and the last piece of scrap paper ribbon out of the Picnic Basket Kit.

Supplies used are: BG Cupcake paper kit", KI apple lucky lace, Jenni Bowlin Tab stickers in red, puffy chit chat thickers in tangerine, Heidi Swapp Butterscotch flower, heidi Swapp felt butterfly in blue and a JB journaling card for my hidden journaling behind the pic sticking out in red/cream, a Wilton Doilie, and a piece of scrap from the Picnic Basket Kit.

If you haven't already you need to hop on over to the tips and technique blog and see what Michele Kovak did using shrinky dinks. Soooo cool. and i have to admit i have never played with this stuff but this makes me want too.

Sneek Peeks of the new kits "Homeroom" and "Extra Credit" can be seen here this week so keep checking back.

Until next week scrapper (now i am sounding like Maury Povich).

Fun Stuff!!!

Raise your hand if you played with Shrinky Dinks as a kid! (Me, Me!!! I did!) Well now you can play again with them as an adult! I punched out circles with my large Marvy punch and stamped my image with Staz on ink. I used my teeny hole punch for 2 holes to recreate a "button." Then you can either bake them the old fashioned way....in the oven, or use your heat gun. (Heat gun is my preference because it is much faster!) Did you notice the little yellow feather sticking out of the button? (Did I go a bit overboard with the chick theme? LOL!)
Here's another question for you....how many of you have flock but it just sits there unused? You thought you needed EVERY color at the time you bought them, but now they just collect dust!? Here are 3 ways I used flock on this LO. The first was with the title. I used Red Line sticky sheets. I ran them through my Sizzix machine to create the letter. Peel the red tape off and sprinkle with flock. (Both sides of the letters are sticky, so once you have sprinkled off the excess flock, peel the backing off and attach to your LO). Now I have soft, touchable title. I also took a plain white brad, covered the top with glue, then sprinkled the flock over it.
This cute chipboard shape was included in the Picnic Basket Add-on kit. I also covered him with glue and sprinkled flock on him.
Here is my finished LO! It is now cute AND "cuddly!"

And just so you know, this entire LO was from the Picnic Basket kit and Picnic Basket Add on kit. With the exception of the title, vintage yellow buttons and photo anchor. (There are only 7 kits left......Grab one quick!)

Some cards for you

I have been using up every single bit of my Memory Lane kit. What I especially like doing is making cards from the last bits of the kit. Here are a couple I made:

The only thing out of my own stash was the black cardstock (scraps), the thread, and the brad. Eveything else was pieced together from the kit. And can I say I LOVE those Hambly mini overlays. They are so versatile! Here I made it the center of attention and simply added a prima flower (from the kit).

And, here is my layout from the Challenge that ends this week.

All items are from the Memory Lane kit. Love that I even got a Christmas page out of this kit!

That is all for now -- have fun creating!

A little October Afternoon in August

I am dying for the fall... maybe that explains my sudden obsession with all things October Afternoon. I can't get enough of it.

I very rarely buy two sheets of the same patterned paper, much less any more of it, and with all of their lines, I keep going back and buying more and more of the same. It's so beautiful and trendy and classic.
(Supplies: October Afternoon Daydream collection, Jenni Bowlin Rubons, October Afternoon Detours Journaling Cards, American Crafts Glitter Thickers, and vintage sheet music, flowers, buttons, Making Memories clip & alpha glitter stickers, brads, embroidery thread, and KaiserCraft Bling from my stash)

A Little Bit of This, a Little Bit of That!

My Picnic Basket kit is getting low! I had a few scraps that I couldn't part with and used them here! This LO is a hodge podge of my son's artwork. It included drawings, paintings, and a card he made for his dad. (The gopher floating on the raft!) I did add a few rhinestone circles from my stash of stuff!
This LO was inspired by a sketch from Becky Fleck! She created this sketch just for us! Aren't we lucky?! Head on over to Noel's Challenge blog to see what the other gals have done and get inspired to create your own! I love working with sketches because for me that is the hardest part of creating a LO. I used Noel's Getaway Kit for this. The pics are from my 15th wedding anniversary. My hubby took me downtown Chicago on a dinner cruise. Anytime we can "get away" (No pun intended! ) , just the two of us, is special!

Flowers and Stars

I have a couple of new layouts to share with you this week. The first one is made using the Memory Lane kit. (I added some Jenni Bowlin Red Tab stickers and Kindergarten RubOn Letters .) If you would like to read a tutorial on how to create the dimensional flower accents, head on over to the Tips & Techniques blog.

Check it out! Grab some Scenic Route Chipboard Stars , a few scraps of blue paper, and some white buttons, . . . now add them to the Passionate Kit and you are ready to scrap your patriotic photos! Gotta love a kit that does double-duty like that!

Have a great week!
