Good morning folks!!

Today I am sharing another layout I made with the Charm School kit!

It took me a little while to get started on the layout though.
I had a single picture (that I stumbled up while cleaning out our guest bedroom) and a bunch of journaling that I wanted to put on the layout.
But. I. just. could. not. get. going.

So I started looking through some recent layouts to see if anything sparked my interest.
That is when I came across this page I made with the Hudson Valley kit.

Inspiration gained!
I used that layout to jumpstart my creativity, and I ended up with this layout using the Charm School kit...

Cabin Fever Pillow!

Happy Tuesday!! Lisa here today!

I love the fabric in the Cabin Fever kit. They both have such a beautiful pattern and are so soft.

I decided to make a little throw pillow so I could enjoy the softness. And the burlap!! Oh, I love burlap. I want to get burlap pillows for my couch, but for now this will do!

I have to tell you upfront I suck at measuring things. I just wing it so there are no dimensions on my instructions for the pillows. If you want to measure you can and still follow these steps below!

Make sure both pieces of your fabric are the same length. I left the blue one wider than the brown so there was more blue pattern since I left the back of the pillow all brown.

Put your fabric together so the outsides face each other. Then sew a 1/4" seam along the inside of the 2 pieces.

Then once your 2 pieces are stitched together you can open them up and you'll see the front of your pillow starting to take shape. You could iron the material at this point, but with this type of material I didn't worry about it since the wrinkles will settle on their own!

Then cut a piece of the burlap (yum) to the same length of your two pieces and stitch it to the top of your pillow piece. I stitched right along the inside hem of the burlap on the top and the bottom. I used a neutral thread, but it would probably look really pretty with a contrasting color like red too!

Once your burlap is stitched on sew 5 of these beautiful buttons on to the burlap!

Ok, now this next step is very important. If you don't follow it exactly you might get all done sewing and find out you stitched it together inside out and have to take it all apart and start over...I'm just saying...it's not like I'd do that or anything ;)

So now cut a piece of the material you want to use for your back that is the same size as your finished piece for the front.

Then (and this is the step you need to follow!) put your 2 pieces together so the pieces you want facing out on your pillow are facing each other on the inside. Basically it's like putting a shirt on inside out. This step allows you to hide the stitching and create your pillow!

Now stitch a 1/4" seam along all the edges leaving about a 5" opening on the bottom of the pillow. If you don't leave an opening you won't be able to turn your pillow right side our or stuff it! To get a nice corner make sure your needle is down when you turn your fabric 90 degrees.

Then turn your pillow right side out and it should look like this. You'll need to poke all the corners out.

Then stuff a generous amount of pillow stuff into your pillow, making sure you get the corners good!

Once all the stuff is hand stitch shut the open seam. This is why you want to keep the open section the bottom of your pillow. It's easier to hide the hand stitching that way!

Now display it some place proudly! I put it on the couch and when my husband came home he asked me where I bought it from...I was just happy he didn't instantly think I made it!

My son quickly took it and thought it looked better on my bed! I have to agree!

Birdwatcher

I have lived in the same city my entire life, and while I have never made a hobby out of birdwatching, one spring I noticed that there was a type of bird in our yard that I had never seen in the 33 years I have lived here. My family and I became fascinated with the Western Tanager birds and had a great time observing them. It has been two years since that Spring and we haven't seen that type of bird again. I'm so glad I snapped a few shots of them to scrapbook.

I used the Noel Mignon Mary Ellen kit (still a few left in the shop HERE) to create this page. This kit is so playful and fun with it's bright colors. I had a great time selecting patterned papers for this page and decided to use a blocked background for my photos so that I could feature several of the papers together.

The pops of red and yellow against the soft aqua, pink, and brown, really adds a lot of energy to this page.

Family Time with Cabin Fever...

Hey there, this is Lisa today! Happy Tuesday!

One of my resolutions/goals this year is to have more quality family time. The coziness of the Cabin Fever kit was perfect for putting together a layout to document this resolution.

I created a quilt like background to add to the cozy family feel. I cut out some 1"x1" squares and just put them in a diagonal patterns. I love the addition of the burlap! I used the fabrip on the seams of the layout and bunched them up and stuck a cute Maya Road pin through it!

Charm School Up Tomorrow

Being challenged

We have a new series of challenges on the message board we are doing- a "Would you rather..." sort of challenges. The object is to make a choice and implement it on your layout!

Here's the first set of choices:

I chose mist, and grabbed that great mist out of the Cabin Fever kit, a couple of buttons, and the wooden doily.

Spritzed.

Results! I love the easy way to do some random polka dots! You can do them with all sorts of different sized buttons, different patterns... so fun!

The second set of choices:

I decided to really challenge myself and do the sewing machine, since it's something I love the look of but rarely take the time to do on my own projects.

I'm so glad I did! I moved my sewing machine to a more easily accessible place so now I can use it more often. I really love it!

A couple of weeks ago I made a few cards for the Bella Blvd blog.
After being stuck in a little rut, I ended up coming up with an easy sketch to help me make the cards.

The more I looked at the sketch, the more I thought it might work for a layout too.

So I tried it!

I grabbed Noel's Cabin Fever kit and went to work!

Cabin Fever Cards

Hey everyone, this is Lisa today! Happy Tuesday!

I made some cute everyday kind of cards with the Cabin Fever kit. I've challenged myself this year to make a set of cards out of every kit. I'm really bad about actually sending out cards because I don't have them on hand. So many times I want to write a quick thank you or something, but I don't because I don't have the right card. This is my solution!

I love the colors of these cards. I especially love that while most of my cards tend to be more girly that this can work for both...because yes, sometimes men need to get a card too!!

I used the Jenni Bowlin stamp that is in the kit to have a quick spot to add a sentiment inside the card.

Easy peasy! Now I have 4 cards fresh in my growing stash to send a quick note!

Mini Snowmobiles

A couple years ago we took the kids to a sledding park near our home in the mountains of Utah. Next to the sledding hill was a course set up with the cutest mini snowmobiles you have ever seen! I think I wanted the kids to try them out more than they did . . . and I would have hopped on them myself if I wasn't an adult. :)

The kids got to zip around the track several times, and I had so much fun capturing shots of each one of them, as well as their cousins. When I got home to scrap them . . . that's when the hard part came in. How do I add all these pictures to one layout, as well as my journaling without my page looking all jumbled? My solution? I decided to print all the pictures in a wallet size and "group" them together with a large circle. Everything on this page is from the Cabin Fever Kit.

I wanted to record each of my children's reaction to riding the miniature snowmobiles, so I decided to write my journaling in the large open space to the left of my photos. The kraft paper already had lines printed on it, which made it easy for me to keep my writing straight. I also like how the tone of the black writing and the kraft paper are very similar . . . so they almost blend together . . . making the journaling feel more like a background element.

Finally, I added some fun elements to my page by hand-cutting the quilt circles from the My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday papers and layering Maya Road transparency snowflakes on top of them. A "cozy" twist to the chilly snowflake. :)

Make a simple winter wreath- with the Cabin Fever kit!

Hi friends!

I'm here today with a little project to spruce up your house in these cold winter months.

Since the Cabin Fever kit (4 left!) is a great mix of rustic and feminine, I went that route with my wreath. I started with one of those cheapo vine wreaths

(mine was actually from the thrift store for $2).

Then I clipped off a couple of glittery decorative floral picks from the Dollar Store. These were left over from Christmas and I've got a few more hoarded back. ;) Place them near the top and bottom of the side you are going to decorate and then glue them on.

Pinch and bunch the back of a coffee filter 'til it fans out pretty. Staple it together in the back. Do three of these and hot glue/staple them together to create a flower. These are also really pretty misted, but I wanted to stick with the simplicity of the color.

Hot glue it into place on top of the glittery leaves, and cut a couple of more leaves from cardboard (you could even use that priority mail box that your NM kit comes in!).

Tuck in one of the Maya Road button pins with some twine through it behind the flower.

Then add a MME sticker on top of the flower.

Create another flower with the wire rimmed burlap ribbon by putting it into a loose circle and pinching the middle together. I stapled/hot glue the back to hold it in place.

Sew a canvas button to the center.

Cut some of the fabric to about 2 inches wide. Fold it in half (like a hot dog).

Cut along the fold edge small fringe all the way across the fabric.

Roll up, hot gluing as you go.

Fluff and add this cute little flower!

Drape some of the cute tiny MME garland from the kit through the top of the wreath.

It's really easy to tuck through the vine wreath.

Tuck in a leaf or two cut from the text patterned paper in the kit. I also added in a clear snowflake (you can see it in a picture down below).

And there you go! A simple and chic wintery wreath!

Hello to all my favorite crafters!

Kimberly here to share some more Cabin Fever Love! :)

I'm so in LOVE with this kit! I can't get enough of all the goodies in it!

Today I want to share a layout I created using the kit with a few little extra's from

Elle's Studio. We have some great Elle's Studio products in this kit too that work so perfectly with all the papers. Loving all the blues and kraft colors!

I used a small circle punch and pop dots for the smaller circles around the page for some dimension. I took a q-tip and sprayed it with the Mister Huey Dewey and highlighted the #4 on the calendar, which was the date the picture was taken.

Tuesday Sketch - Cabin Fever Style

Hi everyone, Lisa here today!

Last year was a record setting snow year in West Michigan. As much as I dislike snow come, it sure is pretty when there is a lot of it! We had so much snow in our yard that you couldn't even walk through it without falling down. It was over my knees!

I had a ton of pictures from one afternoon when we were snowed in and there was no chance of going anywhere. I wanted to fit as many of them as I could onto one page so I created this sketch and I'd love to see how you all use it!

This is the page I created with it using the Cabin Fever kit. The square pictures are 2.5 x 2.5 and the little bit larger focus picture is 3 x 4.

And here's just a close up because I love those snowflakes and the Jenni Bowlin brad!

Snow Canyon

We have been having lots of fun discussions on the Noel Mignon message board with the turning of the year, and one of the questions that was asked was which Noel Mignon kit from the last year was your very favorite? That's like asking a mom who her favorite child is, don't you think? :)

But it got me thinking about one of my very favorite Noel Mignon kits from the past year, the Hudson Valley kit. I LOVED the colors in this kit and the combination of manufacturers that Noel pulled together. It's one that makes me ooooh and ahhh every time I sift through it's contents to play. (There are even a few more left in the shop, if you're interested. YAY!)

I decided to pull out the Hudson Valley kit again this week and create another page with is. Here is what I came up with.

I used a circle to house one of my photos and then continued that theme up into the top of my page by housing my page accents on more circles.

Anytime I see a circle or a dot on a scrapbook supply I see it as an opportunity to add dimension with buttons, brads, gems, or pearls. In this case, I pulled a few orange mini brads from my stash and used them to add detail to the border sticker accenting my page title.

Making Project Life Work For Me- NoelMignon style

So I've done it. I've jumped on the bandwagon and decided to do Project Life.

After being on Instagram for a while, several of my scrapbooking friends on there would be posting little updates to their Project Life albums. I was intrigued and I loved the artsy look to theirs... I had originally discounted the idea of doing Project Life because the main examples that I had seen looked really rigid and not really up my alley. Plus the whole idea of documenting every week of our life for a year?! That sounded OVER.WHELMING.

A discussion was started on the NM message boards about it, and in no time at all, I found myself saying that I was going to jump in with it this year!

This is how I'm making it work for me.

1. No fancy boxes of product for me... in other words, I'm not buying the pre-set Project Life products, other than some of the page protectors. I'm pulling from my stash of stuff. I have a drawer system for my PL, and one of my drawers is just for stuff that I'm going to use. So far I have the Lily Bee Memento line and Elle's Studios products in there, along with some Authentique die cuts. My main plan is to use my NoelMignon kits each month. The Cabin Fever kit is the perfect start to my album. Noel's kits are always seasonally appropriate, so I can make each month stand out in my album... I know how I am, and I will want a large variety of product in my album or I will get disinterested quickly.

2. I'm keeping organized via social media...a large portion of my life is simply documented through twitter, facebook, and instagram. They are all, unfortunately, not very easy to search for. Enter Memento, a journaling app. You can write daily entries, add photos, and most awesomely, import feeds from all your social networks.

Then you can go to your calendar, click on a day with a blue dot underneath....

And see your entries for that day. It has become a lifesaver for me, with scrapbooking in general, with my December Daily, and now with Project Life. I can very easily track what we did each day, photos snapped, and things we're interested in with this little app.

3. I'm not going to make this more complicated than it needs to be.

Last night I made my cover page for the album. I printed off several shots that we used for our Christmas card.

Culled a pile of goodies from the Cabin Fever kit.

Cut and laid out the photos/paper.

Starting adding some embellishments.

And slid everything into it's spot. I actually added some items on top of the

page protector for a little dimension.

And here's the final product. Simple, easy, and definitely my style!

Technique Thursday by Kimberly

Hi everyone! :)

I'm so excited to share this fun technique with you all...

I created this card based on a sweater I found on line that I LOVE! I just love to find new techniques to try from different venues other than the scrapbooking industry.

I also LOVE to use fabric with paper for a great texture to add dimension.

Here are a couple of close up shots to show details.

This is the sweater I found, that inspired this fun technique to try.

Here are the steps to creating this look for yourself.

First I took fabric and cut strips about a half inch thick and then used a fabric glue to make a tube.

You want to let it dry before arranging it on your project. I let mine dry over night.

In the meantime, I picked the papers I wanted to use for my card to go with the fabric. Once the tubes were dry and ready, I used adhesive to place the fabric down in the design I wanted.

Once I had the tube placements down, I started hand stitching it into place to mimic the design on the sweater. I didn't want perfect stitches, so I used my hole piercing tool to make holes more random before stitching.

Products used to create this card are from January's Cabin Fever kit...

I hope this card and inspiration draw some creative ideas to try. I look forward to seeing this technique duplicated. It takes a little time with the stitching and drying, but I do love the results!

Tip: If you are using fabric, be sure to use a fabric glue.

Now I've got CABIN FEVER!!

Now that the holidays are over, I have finally gotten a chance to play with my Cabin Fever kit!
Poor kit was stowed away in my scraproom all alone for the past couple of weeks!

I've got another layout in the works, but here is one that I have finished.
I was inspired by the fun tickets in the kit to make this layout about all the tickets we have accumulated by going to a state park near our home to ride our mountain bikes.
These are just some of the tickets I have saved since we started going regularly in September!

I do think it is time for that annual pass!!

Making Snowmen with Cabin Fever

Lisa Day, here today and I'm so excited for my first blog post here. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome so far!!

This Cabin Fever kit actually has me in the mood for winter...CRAZY! I'm not a fan of winter at all. But I am a fan of this kit! It's the prefect combination for winter. Not to cold, not to warm.

How cute are these canvas buttons to make a snowman. I love the texture and cuteness they add to the layout! I am so happy that there's some fabric in the kit. It worked perfect to make a scarf for the cute snowman! He wouldn't be complete without it!

The fancy pink letters mixed with the wood grain make the title work perfectly! I used the wood doily to mask a snowflake behind the photo block/title to make the focal point pop a little bit more.

I can't wait to see what you all do with the kit!

Coloring with Cabin Fever

Happy New Year, Everyone! Jana here with a sketch and a Cabin Fever Kit layout to share with you today.

My 5-year-old daughter is constantly drawing pictures & notes for everyone in our family and making little books. I love it, because she hangs out with me in my scrapbook room a lot. We have a great time chatting about her stories and creations while she sifts through my scraps looking for new bits to play with. On this particular day, we cut several scraps down for her to put in the sleeves of an old 4 x 6 album. She was as happy as could be!

I used the soft neutrals of the Cabin Fever kit as the base of my layout, adding in a bit of the Fancy Pants floral patterned paper and blue spray ink for color. The reds and dark browns ground the elements together and the cream Elle's Studio tags/banner pieces add some detail without overpowering the rest of the design.

A little bit of the My Mind's Eye yellow baker's twine and yellow October Afternoon label sticker tie into the yellow shirt my daughter is wearing in the photos . . . keeping the focus on her. :)

Happy New Year's Eve!

It's the Eve of a new year... what does that mean for you?

I think it tends to excite us all in some form or fashion. It's like a brand new notebook with all those empty pages, waiting to be written on. You may have big or small resolutions; grand plans or intentions in the details. In whatever way, I hope that the community here at NoelMignon can be a support and encouragement to you!

My current goal is to try to finish up my December Daily and to record those precious, fresh memories before they are faded. I recently discovered some pictures from last Christmas when we had an actual, honest-to-goodness white Christmas... in Alabama, no less! I decided to scrap them with the Mistletoe and Holly kit.

The white mist in the kit is phenomenal! I love how it looks against kraft.

I used the wooden "snow day" shape as a mask against some woodgrain patterned paper and the mist. I loved the affect!

Here's a few pages from my DD... I will get it finished! I even have all the pics printed... it's just a matter of getting them into the album now! :)

Well, this is my last official post here at NoelMignon.com. Sniff. I have had such a great time here. I have loved getting to know all the awesome ladies in the DT with me, and on the message board. Talk about inspiration!

I’ll still be around the message boards, soaking up all the good ideas from the new team, and what a team it is! You’ll definitely want to stick around to get to know the new girls on the team, and see all that they have to offer! I can’t wait to see what they come up with!

You Hold My Heart

Hi everyone! Jana Eubank here to share with you my first page using the delicious NEW Cabin Fever kit. Kraft paper . . . delicious kraft paper! How do I love thee . . . let me count the ways! I am completely in LOVE with this kit with it's beautiful soft hues of pinks, blues, creams, browns, and even a splash of green and red, this kit has stolen my heart.

This kit seems to have all of my favorite things in it and I couldn't wait to combine them together on my first layout! Kraft paper, text printed paper, TWINE, Woodgrain alphas, felt and buttons. Swoon!

And the snowflake transparencies?! Just look at what a beautiful, soft touch they add. I need to order extras! I can see myself using these on every single winter page . . . they are FUN!

I have a confession...

I have officially given up on my December Daily 2011. I know.... But really, it's December 21, and the last completed page is the fifth. It's like beating a dead horse, to use one of those country bumpkin phrases I feel that I should, as I am now a country bumpkin.

To clarify:

Bumpkin

noun.

an awkward, simple rustic; yokel.

synonyms: clod, boor, hillbilly, hayseed, rube, hick, yahoo.

"awkward country fellow," 1560s, probably from M.Du. bommekijn "little barrel," dim. of boom "tree." Apparently, though itself Dutch, it began as a derogatory reference to Dutch people as short and dumpy.

So yeah, that's me all right.

Instead of trying to patch together this dead book, I've decided to focus my energy on my Project Life 2012. I started it last week in my Mini Madness class, and am super excited to get all the prep work finished so that I have ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE to keep up on it. I am determined. I will do this. Mark my words. Did you mark them? You should, because you'll have to throw them in my face at some point when I'm dragging my feet and bitching about how I just don't have time to keep up with my PL12. Oh, by the way, I'm also one of those super annoying people who are referring to their Project Life 2012 in the shortest terms possible. Hence, PL12.

And so I can include a picture in this post, here is what I have so far:

I'm using a recipe box instead of the album, because I say screw buying a thousand sleeves and inserts. To keep myself organized, I made a little accordion album to store each month's little accessories.

All of my pages are individual little cards - the perfect amount of space to fill up once a day. This was also the perfect way to finish off a bunch of old kits and make things all nice and tidy again in kit land.

Each month gets a little intro card with some sort of embellishment at the top that peeks above the other cards to mark the beginning of each month in the stack. Keepin' things simple this time around. Me thinks this is the key to keeping up with it all.

December Memories: 13-16

I'm back with the next four spreads of my December Memories album. I have fallen slightly behind again as I have been fighting off a cold the past week but I'm still plugging away at it trying to record and preserve our memories!

13) Family letter - Every year we put together a short letter to update our family and friends on what we have been up to in the past year. We also try to include a few photos of our family. The pocket page in the Fancy Pants album was the perfect place to add the letter.

14) New Christmas Pajamas - One of our favorite traditions is to buy the girls new pajamas each year. This year we went with super cute "Frosty" pajamas, and the girls love them!

15) Baking is Joyful - We had a baking morning with Grandma Mary and made cut-out cookies that we frosted. The girls had a great time baking with their Grandma. Lily was especially into rolling out the dough and cutting out the cookies. With the girls' food allergies, I was especially excited to find a mix that we could put together so they could have cookies!

16) Anticipation - The photo on the left has to be one of my all-time favorite photos and you will definitely be seeing it on a layout sometime in the near future! You can just tell by both of the girls' body language that they are just dying to ride that train! The "anticipation" of Christmas fun and activities has been so amazing to experience with the girls this year!

Christmas Memories

Hi Everyone! Jana Eubank here back with another project using the Mistletoe & Holly kit. One of my favorite things about the Christmas season is watching the joy and excitement through the eyes of my children. Every activity, decoration, and glittery detail is something they cherish and celebrate. My daughter couldn't wait to decorate gingerbread houses with her class this year and proudly posed with her creation before gobbling it up.

I used the Basic Grey Nordic Holiday paper as the background of my page because it reminded me of a decorated gingerbread house roof with it's scallops and dots. I layered together paper strips along with the Crate Paper border stickers along the bottom of my page to anchor the other page elements. The gingerbread house was cut using my Cricut machine.

I added a candy feeling to the title by decorating some of the letters with the My Mind's Eye rhinestones.

December Daily Update!

I'm busy working away at my December Daily! I'm hoping to finish it all up this afternoon so I can be current for this upcoming week. :)

I'm including all sorts of stuff in my album, whether it is Christmas related or not. This page is how I got the crazy bug to paint my kitchen one day.

The next day, we didn't have really anything major happen, so I made sure to include these cutie pie pics of my youngest in some Christmas pjs and my slippers. :D

Some more just "daily" type pages... a playdate and then the next few pages are about the MDO where my two youngest attend and I teach.

The last spread is about the teachers' Christmas party. I had quite a few little photos, so I decided to create a little flip up feature for those with masking & decorative tape.

2012 Project Planner

I've been wanting to do this project for such a long time and I finally did it! I always wind up having about 30 different little post-its stuck everywhere about deadlines and projects I need/want to do, and I lose track of them way too easily. SO. I decided to make an album that is like a day planner to help me keep track of all the projects, deadlines, and design teams that I need to stay on top of.

And this is it.

I used the Hudson Valley kit for this album. I made the covers with chipboard and bound them with ribbon. That little frame is from Michael's - I ripped it apart and stuck it down!

Each month has a calendar on the right, and a page to stick notes, assignments and ideas. Not a lot of decoration - wanted to keep it simple so that I can add to it as I go.

And here's the very back cover - I made a couple of list pads and tucked them in a pocket so that they would be close at hand if I need them.

December Memories: 5-12

I'm back again with more pages of my December Memories album...please settle in for a photo heavy post! :)

5) Buddy the Elf - We introduced a new tradition with our new Elf-on-the-Shelf this year. The girls named him "Buddy". We might have just watched "Elf" so the name was conveniently fresh in their minds. :) We also picked up the animated movie that goes along with this tradition and it was fabulous in introducing him to our family. (There were even twin girls in the movie). We have been having a blast coming up with crazy things for Buddy to do each day (I don't know who has more fun with him - the girls or mom and dad!) Ha!

6) Decorating the Tree - For this page, I took advantage of the pocket to add a few more photos to this memory. The girls had so much fun decorating this year! Glen could barely get the tree started before the girls were trying to hang ornaments.

7) Coffee - I have a slight obsession with specialty drinks around the holidays but I do limit myself to one (or maybe two) a week. My favorite places to go are Panera, Caribou Coffee and Starbucks and I love that each place has pretty cups to go with their festive drinks. I used the actual coffee cup sleeves for each place on this entry.

8) Gingerbread House - We put together a gingerbread house this year. I discovered as I was mixing the frosting together that it had egg in it but we decided to put it together anyway. (My girls are both allergic to eggs). We had a minor incident with hives and red eyes but they were otherwise okay. It's a little difficult to stop two-year-olds from tasting the frosting but it was a fun time, nonetheless. :)

9) Snow? - Yes, that is snow with a question mark. If you are my facebook friend, you might have watched a little video of two little girls who created their own snow from the stuffing of my giant couch pillow. Take pictures first, right? Then discipline. :)

10) Special date - This past Saturday Glen went around town with Lily and Nora ran errands with me. It's not something we get to do very often so it was a fun memory to document. A little one-on-one time is wonderful!

11) Around the house - I've added some new decor this year. I have a couple projects I created myself (the Santa and Merry gift boxes) and then I picked up the Santa pitcher and record at an antique store. I also added some new vintage books to my collection as well.

12) Holiday Twinkle - This year we took the girls to Jolly Holiday Lights for the first time. They loved seeing all the Christmas lights and were quick to pick out the "car carts" at Hy-Vee, the gingerbread house and all the great tunnels we got to go through.

Slowly But Surely

The Christmas season has started full swing over here and I am in a mad frenzy baking all sorts of yummy goodies. This time of year many of us don't have as much time to scrap as we would like but that is ok. I sneak in a few minutes here and there when I get a chance. It is amazing what you can accomplish when you sit down for just a few minutes at a time to let your creativity flow. I, like many of you, am working on a Daily December album. I am taking notes as to what happens each day so that when I scrap, I don't have to worry about the details as much. Having the journaling already written out helps tons! 12 Days of Christmas

Hi Everyone! Jana Eubank back again with another project idea using the fabulous Mistletoe & Holly Kit.

I wanted to do something extra special for my kids this year and decided that I wanted to do a 12 Days of Christmas for each of them. I thought to myself how fun for them it would be to find a little trinket or treat each morning as they woke up with a note from me and their dad. I came up with the idea to make doorknob hangers to hold their treats so that they could find them before leaving their room each day.

There are several templates available online for doorhangers, but I actually cut this one using my Cricut machine and the Art Philosophy Cartridge. This particular design had a box or pocket attached to the front, which I thought would work perfectly for holding the "12 Days of Christmas" treats for my kids. To make your own, simply add a flat square box to the front of your doorhanger shape. For strength, I adhered a couple of layers of cardstock together on the back doorhanger section so that it would be able to handle the weight of the wrapped treats I will be tucking inside each day.

First, I created the doorhanger box with cardstock, then I used the My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas papers from the kit to cover two of the panels. I added a piece of diecut border along the bottom of each panel to anchor my label design (also cut with my Cricut machine) and other embellishments.

For depth, I embossed each label shape with my Cuttlebug machine and Swiss Dots embossing folder before adding my child's name with the Crate Paper letter stickers from the kit. I used the My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas dimensional stickers and gems from the kit to accent each name. It was easy and fast! LOVE that!

Finally, I added a bit of the green ric rac trim to the top of each doorhanger accented with the Pebbles wood buttons. Waaalah! They are ready to go! Beginning tomorrow, I will place a goodie or small trinket in the box each day for 12 days . . . that means the final day will end the morning of Christmas Eve.

This idea would also be fun to do as a secret for a neighbor or co-worker! If you don't want to commit to a 12 day time period, it would be a fun way to surprise someone with a special treat even one time. Or maybe you want to use a decorated doorhanger as a special way to present that first "clue" for a Christmas Scavenger Hunt leading your loved one to the grand prize at the end. You could even tuck this idea away to use for a future birthday or even Valentine's Day. The possibilities are limitless.

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!

Happy Saturday, friends! I hope today is NOT full of you have to rush around and go to lots of stressful stores, and more full of making fun memories with your family... or maybe just cuddled up on your couch with some hot cocoa and a fave Christmas movie. :)

I've also been busy catching up on my December Daily. It's been so enjoyable to capture these memories as they happen. I feel like it helps me to stop and reflect on what's happening around me rather than just checking things off of the calendar.

I've been using the brag book from Fancy Pants and the Mistletoe & Holly kit.

I also added some vintage numbers from Elle's Studio.

One of the fun things about this album is that you can just tear a page out if you need to- which I did! I didn't need an extra page in there so I pulled it out and saved it for later. Easy peasy.

I love that already my album has fun bits sticking out. I can't wait to work on it some more this afternoon!

Trimming the Tree

Ehem....sorry 'bout that. I just get so carried away with the holly-jolly-ness of things. I can't help it. I look forward to this month eleven months of the year. I'm fueled by the thought of Christmas. The baking. The music. The smell of Jo-Ann's when you walk in and are inundated by Cinnamon-scented pine cones. And the decorating and tree trimming. Oh yeah. All of it.

I decided to make some ornaments this year and I thought I'd share a few of them with you.

The first I made is a super beyond simple glass ball dipped in loose glitter.

All I did was to buy pre-packaged plain glass ornaments, remove the tops, paint them with a thin coat of Mod Podge, and then pour glitter over them. I used two different types of glitter - fine gold and coarse clear. I used a metal frog and some skewers to help them dry, then sprayed them with a coat of Gloss Finish Mod Podge to seal the glitter in.

The second type of ornament is also based on a clear glass ornament.

This time, I coated it in a layer of Mod Podge, and then covered it with "antique" tissue paper. To make the tissue paper I just spread out sewing patterns and stamped with music notes and script stamps. Be sure to use an alcohol-based ink like Staz-On or Versafine so that it doesn't smear when you go back over the top with another coat of Mod Podge. You can stop there if you like, but if you're me, you just can't leave well enough alone. Nope. If you're me then you coat the wet ornament in another layer of coarse clear glitter. It's perfect. Dry these the same way as the first ornaments.

The third ornament is made entirely of paper.

Make an accordion-folded paper circle, coat the outside edges in coarse glitter - of course! Cut a strip of tissue paper a little narrower than the width of the circle and about twice the length. Accordion fold the tissue, staple in the center, and then fan out. Glue to the center of the the circle. Make a banner that is about as wide as the tissue, doodle around the edges and glue to the tissue. Spray the wood snowflake from the pack of Pink Paislee Wood Shapes in the Mistletoe & Holly kit with the Mister Huey's Calico White Spray, also from the kit. Once the snowflake is dry, spray with a coat of Mod Podge and cover (of course) with some coarse clear glitter and glue over the center of the banner. Cut the prongs off of one of the tiny enamel brads from the kit and hot glue it to the center of the snowflake. Punch out a small pink star from the sheet of punch-outs and a small striped star from the 3-D stickers and glue to the snowflake. Now the base of the ornament is finished and all you have to do is make a hanger. I cut an 8 inch piece of baker's twine from the kit, fold it in half, and glue it to the back of the ornament.

How about another paper ornament?

Cut 8 strips of paper, .75"x6" and staple in the middle. Put a glue dot on the inside of the top of the first strip and fold into the center of the stack. Repeat with all of the rest of the strips. You can stick your finger in each loop you make to make them a little fuller if necessary. Use some iridescent glitter glue on the edges of the top of the ornament. Once the glitter is dry, glue a 1.5" scalloped circle to the center, and then layer a Santa sticker from the Melissa Frances sticker sheet over the top. To make the hanger, punch a small hole into the top loop of paper. Cut about 8" of baker's twine, fold in half and tie a knot, then slide up through the bottom of the hole you made.

And the final paper ornament is so simple it's ridiculous.

Punch out the blue ornament from the sheet of punch-outs and doodle around the edges. Stick down some red gems over the little blue circles, and then stick down the "Seasons Greetings" punch-out with a couple of foam dots. Punch a small hole in the top of the ornament, cut 8" of baker's twine, fold in half and tie through the hole.

Voila! Lots of ornaments all hand-made up special for your tree, or to give to friends and family for theirs. OR you could use the paper ornaments as gift tags - they'd be great for that!

December Memories: 1-4

Happy December! I decided last month that I wanted to create a December Daily album but when I actually sat down to work on this project, I knew that wasn't going to work for me. We are several days into December now and have already done so much for Christmas around our house that the idea of a daily album honestly stressed me out. So I decided to take this project and create a "25 Memories of Christmas" album instead! That way I am not restricted to keeping what we do on specific days and make it more about the memories we are creating. I have four memories to share with you today and I'm hoping to be "caught up" on the rest of them by this weekend.

I am using a combination of the brand new "Mistletoe and Holly" kit and some older product in my stash from past Noel Mignon kits. Call me silly, but some of the products in the kit I can't stand to use yet because they might make it into my regular family albums, and I want this album to have more of a journal feel to it. I also picked up the Fancy Pants Brag Book from the shop in red to use as my album.

1) North Pole Breakfast - We started a new tradition in our family this year by bringing in December 1st with a festive breakfast. Buddy the Elf made his first daily appearance and we also started our Advent calendar tree (both of these events will have their own pages so I mainly shared about the breakfast itself.)

2) Cinnamon Ornaments - We made applesauce cinnamon ornaments for our tree and to give as little gifts to family members. The girls had fun rolling out the dough and cutting shapes - a preview to cookie making later this month.

3) Christmas Countdown - I shared a photo of the actual calendar itself and then us opening up the tree the first day and the little treat inside. (By the way, I love the pages in the album with the swirls - they add so much to the album).

4) Grandma's Cream Wafers - I do A LOT of Christmas baking each year. And this year, I got it started by making my Grandma's famous cream wafers. They are so much work but sooooo worth it. I'm happy to be carrying on this family tradition.

So, there you have it! Four Christmas memories preserved in a very simple, journal style. As soon as I'm "caught up", I plan on working on this each night and it shouldn't take me more than a half hour or so. By the way, I should also share that I have not yet completed the cover for my album. Anytime I create a mini album, I save the cover for the very last. I just seem to create better that way!

Christmas Crafts

Happy Wednesday everyone! Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? I know I am as well as my girls. Since the temperatures have been steadily dropping outside, I have been coming up with fun Christmas crafts for my kids to do. This past weekend, we made fun and simple Christmas ornaments for the tree. I had my girls punch out circles and snowflakes. I cut the twine for them and they glued on their embellishments.

I am also working on a December Daily album. Have you started yours? If not, it is not too late to start your own. It is now the 7th day of December but I am already behind on some of my pages but that ok. Do you know why? I make sure to take a picture each day and then I write a little tidbit about what happened that day in my notebook. That way when I have time to scrap I will not have forgotten what I wanted to scrap about for that particular day. Snow Day

Hi, Everyone! My name is Jana Eubank and I am so excited to be Guest Designing at Noel Mignon for the month of December! I have been a long-time fan of Noel Mignon kits, and in my opinion, they are the only kits you will ever want or need. Noel has such a talent for combining the latest and greatest products together in such a way that gives me my monthly "fix". She always seems to read my mind and include the exact products I have been pining away for, as well as new ones that I wouldn't have thought to try . . . and quickly become new favorites! She has such a talent for making me feel creative with her kits. Thank you, Noel and the rest of the team for having me!

Today I have a scrapbook page to share with you using the brand NEW Mistletoe & Holly kit (Hurry! Only two left!). The first snowstorm of the year is always a magical day. My kids can't wait to don their snow clothes and head out for some slippery fun with their sleds. It doesn't matter if there are only a few inches on the ground, they find a way to make a snowman and take several rides down the hill before it melts away again.

For the color scheme on this page I decided to pull out the white, kraft, pink and blue colors from the Mistletoe and Holly kit. These colors look great with my daughter's snow clothes and portrays the ice-y feeling that I was going for. I used my Cricut machine to cut a few snowflake accents from the white cardstock and added a My Mind's Eye pink gem to the center of each one to make them sparkle and tie in with the rest of the page.

I am in love with the Pink Paislee wood accents included in the Mistletoe and Holly kit. They have such a great vintage feel about them with their cream color. I gave them a "dusting of snow" by adding glitter to them. I also added glitter to the pennant border strip, as well as the top edge of the blue patterned paper layer at the top of the page. I love the way glitter always adds that perfect wintry touch!

Hey friends! I am not done- in the least- playing with my Hudson Valley kit. I love the combination of colors in this kit! I think I'll probably be reaching back for this kit a few times this month to give myself some variety from Christmas colors. ;) I still have so much left from this kit!

I had these great pics of Atticus at the pumpkin patch with his Kindergarten class and I wanted to get them scrapped before we move all the way into the holidays... I knew if I didn't go ahead and do it, I'd forget!

The Pick of the Patch

Before we dive right into Christmas and holiday projects, I have one more layout I want to share with you using the Hudson Valley kit. I still have plenty of fall photos to scrapbook so this certainly won't be my last project with this kit. Today's photos highlight a trip to a pumpkin "patch" near our house. We always photograph the girls in the same spot each year and I love looking back to see how they've changed.

I created the title by using stickers by Crate Paper (in the kit) and American Crafts (from my stash).

For my journaling, I did something a little different and wrote it on cardstock strips and then machine stitched them to the page.

I layered a Crate Paper sticker, October Afternoon sticker, Jenni Bowlin flower and Crate Paper brad.

Well, things in my Mini Madness class are going waaaaaaay longer than I had planned, but it's been lots of fun so far and I love all the projects we have made. Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I hope you are enjoying your time with family!

Today I have a two-page layout to share with you about the girls' very first Thanksgiving at just 6 months old. I used the gorgeous Hudson Valley kit from Noel Mignon to create my layout. These photos are only a couple years old but wow, did I ever go down a walk on memory lane as I was looking through them and editing.

Here I created a block of patterned paper squares and stitched an "X" through several of them and then embellished with items in the kit. (Look at those little girls!)

I carried the squares and stitching to the other page and embellished with an American Crafts leaf embellishment and then a Melissa Frances rub-on I had in my stash.

All of my journaling is housed on an Elle's Studio "gratitude" tag.

Don't forget to stop by the shop tomorrow as you start all your Christmas shopping and pick up the "Mistletoe & Holly" kit! I'm actually going to attempt a December album with mine!

Hudson Valley- Frenemies and Community

I have been LOVING playing with the gorgeous colors in the Hudson Valley kit. It's really gotten my creative self going again and it's felt great.

I loved reading this step-by-step tutorial from Georgia Keays on the Lily Bee Blog and used some of her tips on this layout about my youngest and her "best friend."

Since they are both in the terrible two stage, sometimes their friendship turns a little ugly, hence the title. hehehe I am hoping to catch a photo of their true nature sometime soon so I can document it. ;)

In the photo below, I used that adorable stamp in the kit. I will be using it a ton!

I also created the layout below using the Hudson Valley kit, and this one is for our current challenge.

2 sheets of card stock (the vanilla and kraft)
3 sheets of pattern Paper (the apple print, the strip below it, and the woodgrain)
1 ribbon (the brown grosgrain)
1 twine (strung up over the banner)
4 stickers (the round label sticker, the label with pointing hand, the strip above the vertical photo, and the strip below the word community)
2 different alphas (thickers or stickers) "fall" and "community"
A pinch of stitching (I did faux stitching up the side!)
A dash of rub ons (the branch)
a smidgen of fabric (the red ticking I used as a base for the banner)

I Love You Sis!

I was so excited to dig into my beautiful "Hudson Valley" kit with these photos of my girls hugging each other this fall. I feel so blessed to be able to witness the two of them develop such a loving relationship toward each other. I have two sisters myself but there's something about seeing twin sisters together that is so unique - I hope they always have the type of relationship where they are best friends!

Here I layered a transparency by Hambly, banner stickers by Crate Paper and a label sticker by Mind's Eye.

I love all the alphabet stickers included in this kit - here I combined almost all of them!

The tag, twine and "Together" sticker are by Crate Paper and the label sticker is My Mind's Eye.

Hudson Valley- Review Video

I got my Hudson Valley Kit in the mail yesterday and was so very excited to open it up. It's like "Autumn" in a box. The colors and textures are completely up my alley. I made y'all a little video so you could get a peek at the insides!

Remember the Halloween display I made? I just revamped it and added a simple little banner made from the Hudson Valley Kit for my Fall decor. I see all sorts of gorgeous mantles online, but for now, simple is really good for us. :)

I just love the versatility in the September kit, "Study Hall"! My girls aren't near school age yet but they are certainly learning new things every day and this layout celebrates a unique chance for them to learn from a talented artist right in their own family - Grandpa Pete! Here Miss Nora draws with Grandpa on her Magna Doodle and I captured their special time together on this layout.

I created a little badge for my title using a chalkboard sticker and star rub-on by Fancy Pants, Amy Tangerine thickers and burlap trim by My Mind's Eye.

Try using the Study Hall kit to capture family relationships where one person learns from another!

Mini Madness is Getting Closer!!

That's right friends!!

Noel and I have decided to push the class back one week so that we all have more time to get that suuuuper adorable Hudson Valley kit in our hands before we get to work on all of our class projects. And I for one am so excited to be using it for the class! I have a stack of seven mini albums/journals/notebooks that we'll be making together in the class, and this extra week just gives me some extra time to make another project to add to the class! So we'll have at least eight projects to make together and I'll be showing TONS of others and explaining how to make them all yourselves. It's gonna be so fun!

It is at this point that I am channeling Agnes in the video below about how much I LOVE what we've got going on here!

We are going to have so much fun learning all kinds of different techniques to make your own mini albums - bindings, materials, long-term and event-focused, project types, and just general awesomeness!!

I am going to be using lots of different materials - many from the upcoming Hudson Valley kit that begins shipping tomorrow, and believe me, you're not going to want to miss it!!

There's nothing I find more satisfying to make than minis, whether they are completely made by hand or start with a pre-fab book. I'll be covering both types, but of course, you will always put your unique spin on it. We'll be doing a little mixed-media, a little stitching, a little padding, a little of everything!!

This will be a great opportunity to make some fun albums for yourself or gifts for friends and family.

I'll be giving out some awesome printables for not only theme albums, but also to-do lists and calendars - you won't want to miss it!!

OK if I tell you a secret will you promise not to say anything??
I have a bit of insider info I am willing to share with you.
Here's the scoop...

There is a new challenge going up next week.

And it is a tough-y!

But I am going to give you a head start.
It is going to be a "recipe" challenge.

That means you have certain "ingredients" you have to use to make your layout.
Wanna know the ingredients you are going to need??

I just so happen to know them!
Here they are:

2 sheets of card stock
3 sheets of patterned paper
1 ribbon
1 twine
4 stickers
2 different alphas (thickers or stickers)
A pinch of stitching
A dash of rub ons
a smidgen of fabric

And here is another secret for you.
I've already made a layout with the recipe that might help you out a little!

Here is how I used the ingredients:

2 sheets of card stock: pink & kraft matting the photos
3 sheets of patterned paper: background paper, pink paper that I punched the butterflies out of, stars cut out of a sheet of pattered paper
1 ribbon: scalloped
1 twine: pink/white
4 stickers: the pink circle stickers (i cut the largest circle in half & used it on the top & bottom of the page
2 different alphas: "Grandpa and Grandma with Thickers and "with" with My Mind's Eye tiny stickers
A pinch of stitching: around the pictures
A dash of rub ons: the "&" in the title
a smidgen of fabric: burlap

{Iused the Study Hall kit to make this layout! However, everything pink I pulled from my stash of Pebbles products. The round stickers are Jenni Bowlin and the "&" is Hambly}

Finishing Up Something Wicked

I am not a chronological scrapper. I'm rather haphazard in both my style and my perspective in scrapping. I sit down and work on what's fresh on my mind, whether it's something we are celebrating in life, worrying about with a particular child, a routine we've picked up, or a holiday we are in the middle of. I've still got Halloween on the brain (I need to take down my decorations!!!), so I wanted to see if I could use up the Something Wicked kit (7 left!) on some of our pictures from last weekend.

I was inspired on this layout by a layout I'd pinned on Pinterest by Wendy Sue Anderson. I loved her quick and easy banner and created my own. I think I have all the papers in the kit represented in this banner!

The next layout is just a costume layout of my youngest, in her "ghostie" costume. I loved the shades of blue and of course, the fun ghost elements in the kit.

The last layout I made was this one of our group of friends that we trick-or-treated with. I have pictures from my childhood like this and I love looking back at them! I hope my kids have good memories of Halloween that these pictures trigger. :)

I've created 6 layouts, one home decor piece, one card, and one tag from this kit so far. And I still have PLENTY to finish up my Halloween pics with. I. love. it! Get yours now!

Cards with Study Hall!

I've barely begun to delve into my "Study Hall" kit from September so this week I thought I should make a few cards to show the versatility in this kit. I chose a common design element - stars - and made two different cards.

For the "Joy" card, I started punching out stars and embellishing them and putting the whole card together. I knew I wanted the sentiment to go on the blue star but I wasn't sure what it was going to be until the entire card was finished. I decided the colors looked decidedly "Christmas" so the card quickly became just that.

I knew going in that this would be a "Happy Birthday" card and used the tiny My Mind's Eye stickers to put the sentiment on a chalkboard label sticker by Fancy Pants.

I added a little machine stitching for texture to both cards and that was it! Quick and easy!

Just One More

Halloween may be over but I am still in the mood to scrap Halloween layouts. I just can't seem to get enough of the Something Wicked kit! There are still a few left. I highly advise you to add this awesome kit to your stash! Here is a layout of my youngest as little red riding hood. I can now say that I am officially done with my 2010 Halloween pictures and I can start on the 2011 ones.

Gettin' Some Inspiration!

Hey all!

I hope you had a great Halloween! This year I made the trip down to my Mamala's house and we spent a laaaaazy day around the house and then handed out candy to the kidlets. Can I just say for a second though, that it's just ridiculous how many uncostumed teenagers came begging for candy. One guy was even talking on his cell phone! UGH! But we also got quite a few ADORABLE little ones with great costumes and that totally made up for it.

So now that Halloween's officially over, I'm on to Thanksgiving. I LOVE this time of year and all the warm and cozy smells and foods and all the family and candles burning and the smell after it rains. YUM. So I'm in a totally nesting mode. I spent four days cleaning out my studio and purged a TON of stuff! I am exhausted from it, but it just feels so much better to have things all nice and tidy again, and I've got a three foot tall stack of paper and several big boxes full of crafty stuff to show for it. And now that my space is clean, my mind is cleared to gear up for new projects.

I've got my Mini Madness class coming up to prepare for and I can't wait! The projects are looking awesome, and I can't wait to get my hands on my Hudson Valley kit (hurry, only 11 left!!) to finish them all up!!

But now is also the time of year that I get into planning mode for the year to come. I start to think of all those things I want to do and being collecting new products and ideas and there's nothing I love more than surfing around the web to find inspiration.

So I thought I'd share a little bit with you:

Tricks or Treats This Way

This week I have a Halloween layout to share using the "Something Wicked" kit and a great sketch by Gretchen on the challenge blog. We got the girls some super cute Halloween pajamas this year and I just can't resist a pajama photo shoot especially when they are cooperating so well! The ribbon and bow on the left of the photo is actually a piece of cheesecloth that I cut up and distressed with black ink.

I dug into my Halloween kit from last year too and cut up a mini Jenni Bowlin bingo card. The leaf punch is by Martha Stewart.

Down the Rabbit Hole

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's only 5 more days until our little ghosts and goblins get to wonder the streets in search for candy. Today I am going to share with you how I interpreted the sketch for this week's sketch challenge.

I kept the basic design of the sketch but instead of keeping my pictures in a row on the bottom, I bunched mine on the right side. The stars in the sketch are the flowers and circles in my layout. What I love about sketches, is that you can interpret them how every you like. For me, my layouts hardly ever look exactly like the sketch. I have a habit of throwing a little curve in my design to fit my style.

So don't worry about whether or not you are following the sketch exactly. Let your creativity flow and see what happens. Now stop hesitating and come join us in the sketch challenge.

Sketch challenge!

There is a new challenge up today!

And this is an easy one!

It's a sketch challenge!

Here's the sketch:

I stayed pretty close to the sketch when I made my layout, but I did change a couple of things.

I only used 1 picture instead of 3.

And I really tried to use stars but I couldn't make the stars look right on a "nature-y" layout!

But the sketch was a good jumping off point for me and this layout only ended up taking me about an hour.

{and that is really good for me!}

I used the Study Hall kit for this layout.

{once again, not just for school pages!}

Displaying Halloween Memories of the Past

We've been having a great time at Spooktacular Week on the message boards... come join us if you haven't had a chance to pop in yet!

I wanted to be able to display Halloween pictures from the past years in my home during the month of October, but because this ends up being an insanely busy month for us (as I imagine it is for you too!), I needed to make something simple and that perhaps could be used for other projects down the road.

I had a couple of old wooden frames in my trunk (what-- isn't that where you store random stuff?!). These are actually supposed to be canvas stretchers, but I just used what I had on hand. You could use old thrift store frames or whatever works for you!

I spray painted them with this paint- it was just a couple of bucks at Walmart and I still have plenty left for other projects.

Then I hot glued on some twine & buttons from the Something Wicked kit. Make sure to lay these flat to do that and to hold the twine taut as the glue dries.

I used odds and ends of stickers, brads, and patterned paper from the kit to lightly embellish photos of Halloween from the past 6 years. I found all of the photos by going through my blog and just downloading the pictures straight from there, rather than going through all my backed up photos on cds. It was a lot easier since I know my blog is archived and I can just click on the month of October! I turned all the photos black & white and upped the contrast a bit in Picasa to make them bolder. Next time I go home I plan to get some old photos of myself from Halloween to add to our display.

Tiny clothespins from the craft section hold the photos up. You can stack the frames like this....

Or do them side by side! Whichever way appeals to you more....

The great thing with this project is that I can change it out for Christmas time as well! :)

Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying Spooktacular Week on the message boards and all the great projects from the design team! I LOVE scrapbooking Halloween and something I've done every year now is to create a recap layout with my favorite photos.

First I'll show you my recap layout for 2010 and then what I did the previous year. I used the "Something Wicked" kit for this layout. I printed out 14 photos that are 1.5" squares and then printed a larger photo (about a 3" square) but when I cut it, I left about an inch border on the bottom to make it look like a Polaroid. This larger photo is THE costume photo I sent to family, etc. I decided to place all the photos on black cardstock because I wanted them to just pop off the page. The rub-on in the corner is by Fancy Pants.

I embellished several of the photos with the Authentique Paper word stickers and a Fancy Pants button (with twine) and an American Crafts rosette.

The filter circle is by Fancy Pants, American Crafts dimensional felt sticker and Authentique Paper alphabet and word stickers.

And here is the Halloween recap layout I did for 2009 using Noel's Halloween kit from last year. You can see I repeated the square grid design but changed it up a little bit.

This type of design would work well for any event or holiday you have a lot of photos from and would be fun to look back on as well from year to year!
