Scraplifting myself

It is totally legal and I do it often!
I like to use old layouts as a jumping off point for new layouts.
Take this one for instance that I made with the Bedford Falls kit (hey there are a few left!)...
I really like how that layout turned out so I used it's basic design to make this layout using the Truly Scrumptious kit (you can still get the papers if you want!)...
{Everything is from the Truly Scrumptious kit except the background paper (Fancy Pants) from the Very Virginia kit}

And I love how this one turned out too!
:)
Happy Monday good people!

The Cupcake Thief

The Truly Scrumptious kit (2 left!!!) is the perfect fit for this story about Ariana stealing Atticus' cupcake. The colors remind me of everything decliciously edible!

The journaling reads: After Sabby's birthday, we had extra jumbo, chocolate with buttercream frosting cupcakes leftover. We were all about to enjoy them, and Atticus set his down on the edge of the table. (You see where this is going, right?!) Next thing I know, I see a giggling flash of pink go running by. By the time I caught up with her to snap this photo, the cupcake had been entirely devoured. (Atticus got another one. ;) )
I made a cupcake out of patterned papers, rhinestone bling, a 3-d sticker with a button with tulle added to the top, and the Liquid Pearls added around the edges. I think it gives a great effect!
I added a little scattering of buttons, white paint, and splattered mist to the top for subtle texture.

Truly Scrumptious!

Well, hello there friends! Today, I have a new layout to share using the "Truly Scrumptious" February kit (just 2 left!!!). The bright, fun colors in this kit have had me wanting to scrap spring and summer photos. These photos just crack me up = We Love Cheap Entertainment! A hot summer day = a day to stay in and enjoy the cool air conditioning. On this particular day, all we needed was a couple of cheap, plastic baskets and daddy to push the girls back and forth across the kitchen floor. The girls loved it (click on the layout to see their little faces)!

I made a patterned paper border using the Paper Crush collection by Sassafras Lass and the Fine & Dandy collection by My Mind's Eye.

Here are a few close-ups...I really love Sassafras alphabet stickers and the sweet treat stickers make great embellishments!

See you next week!

Stitched Heart

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I am going to show you a quick way to add a stitched heart onto your layout. First you will need to cut out a heart from a scratch piece of paper or if you have a heart template on hand, use it instead. Take a needle or paper piercer and poke holes around your heart template.

Next, choose the color floss that best coordinates with your layout and stitch away!

Viola! A nice simple addition that adds a little oomph and texture to your layout.

All items, except for the floss, are from the "Truly Scrumptious" kit. There are only two of these kits left so make sure you get yours before they are history!

Happy Creating!

having fun at Animal Kingdom!

I believe I mentioned last week that our family took a trip to Disney at the beginning of this month so, needless to say, I have a lot of photos to scrap! Don't be surprised if you see many more Disney layouts from me in the coming weeks!

I had some pics of Animal Kingdom & thought Noel's fall kit 'Dear Diary' would work perfectly. All of the browns, yellows, blues & greens work great with nature pics!

I love shaped papers...they kind of take the work out of designing a page, don't they?! For the bottom scallop I used my Sizzix die but you could certainly achieve the same effect using a punch of punched circles. Quite honestly, that's how I usually do it and always forget that I have a die to do it for me!

I am running a little low on thank you cards so I am trying to replenish my stash.
Thank you cards and birthday cards always seem to be the ones I need in a pinch so I like to have at least a few on hand at all times!
So I made this card...

A Gentle Reminder

Lately, I've been thinking about things. I've done something the last few months that I try to be very careful not to do... Get so caught up in doing things for others, that outside of my work, I don't really have down time for myself. Ouch. I thought I had already learned this lesson?! I guess sometimes we just need gentle reminders...

Always Come Home

I absolutely fell in love with the colorboard inspiration Amy provided us with for our current challenge. It wasn't hard for me to scrap, but it was hard for me to narrow down what exactly I would scrap with it! It's probably one of my most favorite color combinations to wear, to use in decorating, and to scrap with.
I used the "Very Virginia" kit which goes perfectly with this color theme. I created a base on top of the patterned paper for my journaling by layering strips of masking tape and rubbing ink pads on top. I love the simple pop of color it provides!
Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget about our blog hop continuing today- 3 lucky winners get $10 off their next kit!

You + Me @ the Bean

Happy Thursday, friends! Today I have a new layout to share with you for the Color Combo challenge over on the challenge blog. I used the "Very Virginia" kit  (1 left!!!!) on my layout and had fun creating a collage-effect layout while channeling my inner "Virginia". :) I used Poladroid to get that cool effect on my photo. It already has a "fish-eye" look to it because it's a photo of my husband and me at "The Bean" in Chicago a few years ago.

I ADORE the patterned paper I used for my background from the Curio collection by Basic Grey. I think I need another sheet or two of it!

Here's a close-up of my title using the Sassafras Lass alphabet stickers and American Crafts Thickers in the kit.

I placed several strips of masking tape on my background and journaled right over them.

I also placed several strips of masking tape on the left side of my layout to mask the busy pattern that was a little too much to look at in combination with the stickers I used.

Hope you can join in with our Color Combo Challenge and don't forget about the blog hop going on through today at all of the designer's blogs. The "Truly Scrumptious" February kit goes on sale TOMORROW!

Until next time,
Jill
