Cards, cards, cards with the Little Bird Classic Kit

Hey everyone!  I hope your week is going well.  Nicole here to share some cards I put together with the Little Bird Classic Kit.  I received in my kit the cork "Happy Birthday" and "Thank you" so I saved those for my sentiments. I LOVE making cards from the bits and pieces of kits.  I honestly could have made about 10 cards from all the wonderful product left, but stopped myself at four.  I always love having cards on hand especially thank you and happy birthday cards.

You'll notice I use layers and LOTS of foam adhesive when I make cards.  I rarely mail any of these out and they tend to be tied to packages or slipped into an envelope to hand deliver.  Because of this they get plenty bulky, the bulkier the better in my opinion.  ;)

This one I paired a die cut, some fussy cutting, ribbon flowers, and the wreath stamp to frame my sentiment.

The little teal pearls are from my stash.

I started this card base with a square punch to add in some of the different pattern papers from the kit.  More fussy cut leaves, ribbon flowers, and the vellum pocket under/around the sentiment.

teal pearls, tag, and seam binding from my stash

The Happy Birthday cork I used a white gel pen to trace over the sentiment to help it stand out against the black.  Everything on this card besides the baker's twine is from the kit.

My last card uses the stamp set from the kit.  I started by stamping the wreath with StazOn onto a piece of vellum.  I then used a watercolor brush to add color to the vellum.

The watercolor puddles up a bit on top but eventually soaks into the vellum.

I trimmed around the outside, stamped the sentiment, and attached to my card.

I started my base by adding ink over the stencil and then layered my pattern paper strips on top.  I fussy cut butterflies and added them with foam.  As a final touch of color I added washi tape along the top and bottom.

There you have it four cards to add to my card stash.  Do you use up the odds and ends of your kit up with any card making?  Share if you do over on the Facebook page, we would love to see.

Thanks for stopping over here on the blog today.  Happy Scrapping! :)

{Lovely Maddy} Layout with the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit

Hello Noel Mignon fans!  It's Meridy here today with a double page layout using the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit and the paper add on.  There are still a couple more of the "Little Bird" Daily Diary kits in the store, so you can still pick one up!!!

I decided to do quite a bit of fussy cutting on this layout since the Maggie Holmes floral paper in the kit really lent itself to this.  I started by picking the background paper, and then began building up my layers and matting the photos.

Before adhering any of the layers of flowers and leaves down, I placed them where I thought they would look good.  I was able to move the pieces around until I got an arrangement that I really liked.

I used 2 different thicknesses of pop dots to create depth in the various layers of fussy cut flowers, die cuts, and stickers from the Daily Diary kit.

I added a few heart stickers and the cut apart labels from the kit to finish off the clusters of flowers.

My titles are very simple.  I used words from the Hazelwood sticker sheet in the kit and paired the "lovely" sticker with some Thickers from an old Noel Mignon kit I had in my stash.

I didn't do any journaling on this layout because the photos were simply from a family photo shoot.  There was not a real "story" to tell, I just thought they were pretty pictures, and I wanted to use the pretty supplies in this month's kit to reinforce the look and feel of the photos.

I had fun working with the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit this month.  Thank you for stopping by!  See you next Monday with a layout using the February "Happy Together" Classic Kit.

Love at First Sight | Little Bird Daily Diary Kit

Hey there!  Laura here with  a new layout to share today using the Little Bird Daily Diary Kit.  The design team was challenged to use a sketch this week, any one of our choosing!  I opted for sketch #302 over at Creative Scrappers (see sketch below) and modified it slightly to make it work with the Daily Diary kit that I am playing with this month, which includes a lot of pocket cards and 6 x 6 papers.

If you check out the sketch below, you will notice that it suggests that the design encompasses the entire page, however, since I am working with 6 x 6 papers I needed to shrink it down for my interpretation of it.  So my focal area measures about 6 x 6 with a 3 x 3 photo.  I have matted this onto some white cardstock that I added some inks, paint and mist to in pinks and teals.  And then I matted that onto white cardstock and a large piece of patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes "Gather" collection that I had in my stash.

I swapped out the locations of both the photo and the title on my page as well.  I felt that I could only really pull of a single photo for my compact focal area.  I loved mixing up the stickers from both the Hazelwood and Echo Park "Just be You" collections to create my multi font title - which you know I love!  I added a bit of machine stitching just for fun and texture.

I also had to shift the embellishment cluster on the lower right of my page over just a bit so that it didn't cover my photo.  But I was still able to keep the embellishment triangle in tact!  This cluster combines layers of stickers, flowers and pieces cut from pocket cards with some sequins and a button added in.

The embellishment cluster on the lower left is much more minimal as is suggested in the sketch; sequins, a sticker and a cut apart flag are just perfect here.

The cluster on the upper left also got shifted over slightly and tucked behind my focal area.  This cluster also features layers of stickers, pocket cards, a hand cut tag and some sequins.

Here is a look at the sketch by Kristine at Creative Scrappers!

I had a lot of fun with it and knew that it could easily be modified to suit the products / kit that I am working with this month!

Supply List:  (from the kit) Echo Park "Just be You" and American Crafts"Hazelwood" stickers; Fancy Pants "Joy Parade" pocket cards; Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes "Gather" 6 x6 papers; Pretty Little Studios "Hey Heather" pocket cards and cut apart flags; Jillibean Soup pink grapefruit sequins; May Arts Ribbon; Prima flower. (from my stash) American Crafts Texture cardstock; Staples cardstock; Hemptique twine; misc. button and crochet floss; Maggie Holmes "On Point" paper from the Gather collection; Tim Holtz Distress ink; Mr. Huey's mist.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Adventure Awaits (Little Bird Classic Kit)

Hello, friends! Sherry here and today's layout is inspired by a sketch. We took a hike on Christmas Day and I had a beautiful panoramic shot that I wanted to include on my layout. As I was searching for a sketch, I made sure to look for one that would easily incorporate a panoramic photo. The following is the layout and the sketch I selected:
Since the photo has so many beautiful colors, I decided Fancy Pants Joy Parade (Wrap it in Color) would be a fun place to start. Even though the paper is really busy, it pops when using a small amount, such as the long strip in the center of the layout. The Fancy Pants puffy words were perfect for these photos. I can't wait to use more on another project!
I created a photo collage in PicMonkey to mimic the four squares on the sketch. Originally, I had planned to cut them apart but when I laid the photo down, I loved the way it looked, so I ran with it.
To balance the grid I cut a mat the same size and used it as a base for my journaling card and the fun globe from the Hazelwood paper. I also used the adorable heart washi tape from Hazelwood to border my mat.
If you're in a creative slump, a sketch is always a fun way to jump-start your creativity! As always, thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Getting so big!

Hey everyone, Michelle here! We're using sketches this week which I love because it's one of the easiest ways to create a layout. All the work has been done for you when you use a sketch, you just need your own creativity to make it your own!

I knew I wanted a sketch with just one photo so I started looking around on Pinterest, pretty much my go-to place for design ideas, and I came across this sketch.
Funny enough, it's from our own Laura Whitaker :)

So I used the new Happy Together Classic Kit to create my own version of this sketch.
I love the mix of blues, pinks, yellows, & reds in this kit. And there are tons of embellishments to play with!

The Illustrated Faith patterned papers are a definite favorite in this kit for me with the watercolor & splattered paint patterns.
If you don't have a Noel Mignon subscription and want to pick up this kit there's still a few available here!

Beautiful Zion with Little Bird Classic Kit

Hey Nicole here on the blog today!  As Meridy mentioned yesterday we are all using sketches this week to inspire us.  I chose a sketch that I found on my Pinterest sketches board.  It was originally posted on the October Afternoon blog.

This sketch caught my eye because of the number of photos used.  I wanted to highlight a recent trip my husband and I had taken to Zion National Park and knew I wanted to include quite a few smaller pictures.  This grid sketch was the perfect solution. You will see that I did flip the sketch upside down and played with the placement of my title.

I had a really hard time choosing from the Fancy Pants sentiment stickers and went back and forth with title options.  So instead of picking just one I used them all :).  One for my title and the rest on the top block of my layout.  The problem I ran across was when I got my layout all put together the stickers were too bright and seemed to distract from the rest of my layout.

My solution:  vellum.  I trimmed a piece to the same size and stitched it in place.  The result was exactly what I wanted.  The block was now a design feature, but doesn't draw too much attention away from my photos.

One thing I love about Noel's kits, versatility!  These pictures were taken in October when the leaves were still changing.  I easily created some fall leaves for embellishments by fussy cutting only the leaves from the Hazelwood pattern paper.  I then creased them and added ink to give an even more fall look.

And really this layout came together in a breeze thanks to using a sketch.  I love being able to have some of the design work done for me.  Do you use sketches?  If so we would love to see your projects.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! :)

*All items but the vellum and small date label are from the Little Bird Classic kit.

{Me & My Brownie} using the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit

Happy Monday, Noel Mignon fans!  It's Meridy here and I have a double page layout to share with you today using the "Little Bird" Daily Diary kit, along with a "Little Bird" paper add on kit.

This week the design team is using sketches as inspiration.  The sketch I choose is from Sketch Savvy, and it's called "2 page sketch #19".  Susan Stringfellow designed this sketch...

And here is my take on the sketch...

I started by picking out patterned paper to coordinate with each pattern in the sketch.  Once I got the "bones" of the layout adhered, it was time for me to pull out the embellishments.

I created a couple of different embellishment clusters on each side of the layout.  I started with the Hazlewood sticker pack, then fussy cut some of the papers (mainly the little bird paper by Crate Paper).  I also added some of the Reset Girls Label stickers, a journaling block, and epoxy hearts.  I finished off each cluster with a little strip of washi tape from the kit.

I took apart the glittered flowers that came in the kit.  I made them flatter, by peeling off the center layers, so they would fit better in the page protectors.  I replaced the centers with my own centers using a small flower punch.

I finished up my layout by creating a title and subtitle.  The subtitle "Me & My" uses letter stickers from the Daily Diary kit, I used Thickers that I already had in my stash to spell the word "Brownie".

One more close up detail of an embellishment cluster...

I would love to see if any of you work from the sketch I posted.  Stop on by our Members Facebook Page and share your creations!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!!
