Myrtle Beach: June "Dive In" Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with my last layout using the June classic kit.  This week, we are challenging everyone to work with sketches.  I found one on Pinterest that I liked and used it to make this layout.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

I loved the large banners and knew it would be a great way to use up some leftover strips of paper from the kit.  I took advantage of the flamingos as well being that these are beach photos.

I used the sunglasses in place of the circular sun in the sketch.  The quote is from the cut apart sheet.

The chipboard flamingo was screaming at me to use it.  I love how it snuggled up next to the title.

Some die cuts, puffy stickers and enamel dots helped to finish up the layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I have loved working with the bright summer colors in this kit!  I hope you will use this sketch as well!

Another sketch layout with the Dive In Daily Diary kit

Hello again!

I hope that you are enjoying the sketch layouts shared so far this week and that perhaps you have found some inspiration to create!

I did a Google search for sketches and found some great ones and decided on this one from Shimelle.com.  It is an older sketch but the great thing about sketches is that they can be pretty timeless. I really liked this one and the challenge that it presented for me to do a more simple page design.

This sketch design calls for a large photo on the lefthand side of the page. I opted to fill that space with patterned paper instead, and used a bit larger photo than the sample. One thing to remember about sketches is that you don't have to follow them exactly. Use them as a jumping off point to inspire your project. You can use them as-is, rotate them, change elements around to suit your preferences.

I kept the title and journaling block on the right side of the page as in the sketch and instead of stars did some handcut hearts that I added to my page. Because I am down to the end of my Dive in Daily Diary kit, I made good use of the scraps I had left.

The "love you" is cut from one of the 4"x6" cards in the kit.

Because I am on a bit of a gold kick lately I added some gold glitter washi from my personal supply as well as some of the striped washi from the kit.

I finished off my page with this cute flair and handwritten journaling on a 2"x3" card.

Happy 6th birthday!

This week we're working with sketches so I decided to scraplift this page I found on Pinterest. It's not a 'sketch' but using a sketch to create a page is really no different than taking the ideas of someone else's page and making it your own.
I loved the idea of the circles on the page so I set about cutting a couple photos from my daughter's 6th birthday, cut with a 2.5" circle punch, along with a few of the patterned papers from the Dive In Classic Kit
Once I had the circles where I liked them and adhered down I added embellishments from the kit to complete my page. That ferris wheel was a perfect addition to my page because of it's shape! I also added some stamping with that great alpha stamp set that came in the kit which I just can't get enough of!

Willard Bay with the Dive In Daily Diary Kit

Hello everyone!  Nicole on the blog today to share my layout.  This week the design team used sketches to help aide in their designs.  I used a sketch I was drawn to on my Pinterest sketch board.  I really like the center weighted design with the circular photo at the bottom.

I decided to use photos from our camping trip to Willard Bay a few years ago.  I had a couple of photos from this trip I wanted to use and after looking through the pattern papers I decided to cut into the Crate Paper with the swimming suits to create frames for these photos.

I used a ruler and pencil to trace a border around each swimming suit.

I cut the frames from the large pattern paper and then placed these on my background cardstock.  I backed the frames with pictures, stickers, and clips of the 8x8 pattern papers in the kit.

Following the center weighted design I kept the photos in the middle and then found a sunset picture of the bay and printed this for my large circular photo at the bottom.

I used my Silhouette to cut the title from the pink chevron 8x8 pattern paper and added "Bay" to one of the brad elements by My Mind's Eye.

I printed my journaling and placed it on the other side of my photo and then placed a word sticker strip below it and stamped the date.

I finished off my design by punching the corners from pattern paper and placing them on both of the upper corners.  I know I varied a lot from the original sketch but, hope you can see the elements from the original.  If you decide to use this sketch be sure to share your results on the Noel Mignon Facebook page.  We would love to see!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

{Flip Flop} Home Decor with the "Dive In" Classic Kit

It's OFFICIALLY summer! This week the design team is sharing our creations from a sketch, and I had a layout from a sketch all ready to share...and then yesterday I stopped by a crop that some friends of my were hosting to say hello.  When I got there, my friend Sandra was working on a super cute "SUMMER" flip flop sign.  When I saw her finished product, I knew I had to use her project as a "sketch" and recreate it using the papers and embellishments from the "Dive In" Classic Kit and the "High Five" Classic Kit.  This is what I came up with...

I started by purchasing 3 pairs of flip flops from Dollar Tree, Walmart also has flip flops for 98 cents.  I bought two 5 gallon paint stir sticks from Walmart for 37 cents each to use to adhere the flip flops to.

Next, I decided to cover one pair of flip flops in the Hawaiian floral paper from the "High Five" Classic Kit.  I traced the bottom of a flip flop and cut that out, and cut a small slit and circle where each of the 3 flip flops straps fit into the base of the shoe.  I glued the paper in place with Glossy Accents.

There were 2 paper rosettes in the "Dive In" kit, I decided to use those and create 4 more from various scrap of paper I had left over from the "Dive In" kit.  The strips of paper for the rosettes were 1 1/8" wide, 12" long, and I scored them every 1/4 inch.  On top of each rosette, I layered a 2" scalloped circle punch in white paper, and a 1.5" scalloped circle punch in pink paper.  I backed the Thicker letters to spell out S-U-M-M-E-R with the green paper, fussy cut around each letter, and adhered that to each of the rosettes.

I cut apart the flamingo trim from the "Dive In" kit and placed one on each of the letter rosettes.  Then I pulled some of the ribbon from both the "Dive In" and "High Five" kits and adhered it to the back of each rosette, I left about 2 inches peeking out from each rosette.

After I had everything embellished and ready to go,  I hot glued the paint stir stick to the back of the row of flip flops.  I placed one towards the top and the other towards the bottom of the row.  I used 2 because I wanted it to be fairly sturdy.  I am going to stand my sign up on my mantle, so I didn't put a hanger on it.  But if I had needed to, I could have added a ribbon to the stir stick to hang the sign.  Finally, I used a hot glue gun to adhere the rosettes to the flip flops.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you are having a great SUMMER!!!

Dive In Daily Diary- Beach Trip Mini Album

Good morning! I finally was able to have all my technology cooperate so I could share with you all this mini album I made with the adorable and beachy Dive In Daily Diary kit! I also supplemented this with a pack of extra paper I purchased in the shop, and I'm so glad I did... it all came together so wonderfully!

My idea for this album was so that it was a small enough size so I could slip it into my pocket album for the year... check out the video at the bottom of the post to see how I did that, and a whole flip through of the album!

Shrimp & Grits: June "Dive In" Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with a layout using the June classic kit.  I wanted to document one of my new favorite dishes to order at restaurants, shrimp and grits!  So yummy!

I wanted to bring out the green from the dish in the layout.  Using the Crate Paper background and green floral paper really helped highlight it.  I chose pink as my secondary color by bringing it in with the Echo Park flamingo print paper.  Using the Project Life gold rub ons, I brought in the gold from the die cut.

The Dear Lizzy Thickers were great as the title and the Elle's Studio tiny alphabets were perfect for my subtitle.

For my journaling, I used strips of the Jillibean Soup pink paper to help bring in the larger layer and to stand out against the floral paper (also Jillibean Soup).

I finished it off with cameras cut out from the Jillibean Soup paper and some enamel dots.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  I can't wait to see what you guys are making with this kit so far!  Happy Scrapping!

Hello, everyone!

How are you enjoying your summer so far?

What are you doing to stay cool?

It's Becky here with you today to share another project made with the Dive In Daily Diary kit.  There are still a few of this kit as well as the Classic kit and you can find that cuteness in the Noel Mignon store.

For my layout this week I started with a sheet of white cardstock cut down and mounted on this cute striped sheet of patterned paper. I misted the cardstock with a mix of blues and greens and added little bits of pink and some orange in there as well. There are lots of mist colors available in the shop

I used a Silhouette file for the big sun and #loveyou diecuts and used bits of patterned paper to fill in some of the spaces. From there I added my photo and cut down a journaling card that I tucked under the picture.

These little pennant stickers are so cute! I added some foam adhesive to the backs and strung a piece of twine from a previous kit across the top and tied it at the ends.

To finish off the page I added the black and white tape (also from a previous kit), a brad and the cute little pink alphas to go with my journaling.

Come back tomorrow for more inspiration from the design team.

Traveler's Notebook prep using the Dive In Classic Kit

Hey everyone, Michelle here! Today I wanted to share with you a traveler's notebook I prepped for a trip that I'm taking this week so that I can record all of my fun memories. Whenever I use one of these notebooks for a trip I'll do a bit of prep beforehand, do a bit of journaling during my trip, and then finish it up when I get home. I've found that if I do a bit of journaling during my trip it helps with remembering the little things that I might have forgotten by the time I get home (you could also carry a small notebook for this as well).

So I started with my TN that you can pick up on Amazon and even at Michaels now. I started with just a few elements from the Dive In Classic Kit - mainly that great alpha stamp set - along with another stamp set from my stash. I stamped a few basics on the days that I knew I had plans. The others I'll leave blank until I get home, or fill in a bit when I have some down time during my trip. I skip every other page because the pages in a TN are typically very thin (and the stamping bleeds through) so I'll actually end up attaching those pages together which I will share in a later post.
I have an Instax printer which I love for my travel TN's. Sometimes I'll bring it along with me on trips & print photos as I go. I also like to use a little zippered bag to carry some of my scrappy supplies with me (I believe I found this one at the Container Store).

I also like keeping some kind of little zippered bag to keep little papers I collect during the trip, this one I found at Michaels. This one fits right in my TN.

Side note - I save just about every little paper & "souvenir" from my trip. They're fun to use when embellishing traveler's notebooks :)
I'll fill in and embellish my album and I will share the finished TN when I get home!

So Much Fun with the Dive In Daily Diary Kit

Hi all!  Nicole here on the blog today to share a layout I put together using the Dive In Daily Diary kit and the Dive In Paper Pack.  As I was trying to find more of our photos from last summer I remembered photos that my sister took with her cell phone while we were at our local aquatic center.  The photos aren't great in quality, but it was a fun day I wanted to remember.
I printed the photos small so they wouldn't be grainy and used elements from the daily diary kit to frame them.

I then decided to cut down the teal pattern paper and mount it on the color blocked pattern paper from the paper pack.  I cut down a few pattern papers and tucked them behind the main photo block and added the letter stickers.

I fussy cut a few flowers from pattern paper from My Mind's Eye Palm Beach pattern paper.  I placed these on the bottom right corner, one next to the letter stickers, and then placed another piece on the very top of my layout to tie it all together.

As a few finishing embellishments I added the brads as well as the sticker on the bottom of my title.  I cut the "So happy together"  in half and added "together" to the bottom of my title block.
Just a reminder to make the products work for you even if that means cutting stickers apart.

I just love the colors in this kit!  They are so easy to pair with all of the bright summer pictures.  Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Happy Scrapping!
