My take on it

Don't forget about the latest challenge here!
That means that everything on your layout has to be done in twos.
If you use one of something, you have to use two.
And you can't use more than two of anything.

Now I present to you the layout that took me a full week to complete...

Supplies: Most everything here is from the Truly Scrumptious kit but I did pull the striped paper, silver alphas, and silver stars from my stash
2 pictures
2 pieces of cardstock (red & kraft)
2 patterned papers (that scalloped border came off the striped piece of Sassafras)
2 chipboard stars
2 alphabets (red & silver)
2 brads
2 photo corners
2 pieces of masking tape (overlapping each other on top of the big picture)
2 staples
2 types of journaling (written & typed)
{i didn't plan that but it works!}

This was officially the hardest {scrapbooking} challenge I have ever completed!
But it was a fun one and you should play along with us!
You can see everybody else's layouts here.
Seriously, play along with us!

Everyday Love Notes...

Here's a great idea to use up the little tidbits of your oh so yummy Truly Scrumptious Noel Mignon kit.... I cut small strips of white paper and decorated them with scraps from the kit... these would be quick and easy notes to leave your kids or your hubby... just something to brighten their days!

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Time Out & It Takes Two Challenge

I've been playing around with some of the extra stuff I still have from my Truly Scrumptious kit while I wait for the Delightfully Domestic kit to come my way!
I made this layout about my silly little girl putting her toys in time out. What a goof!

The newest challenge for NoelMignon is called "It Takes Two," and here's what we are challenged to do:

All you have to do is follow the rule of twos. ;)Anything you put on your LO you have to put two of. So that means if you are using Patterned Papers, then you must use two and only two. (Tip: Definitely pick double sided papers as you get more to work with that way!) Or if you are using Metal in some way (brads, stick pins, plaques, or flair buttons....), then you must use two pieces of metal, and only two. Does that all make sense? :D I hope so!

So this is what I came up with, using the Truly Scrumptious kit.

I fudged a little bit with it, because I'm sneaky like that. ;) But here's my "twos":

-2 pop-dotted, fussy-cut banners
-2 blue rhinestones
-2 highlighted words
-2 "photo mats" ;)
-2 photo corners
-2 die cuts
-2 cute pictures

I thought I would struggle more with this one, because I tend to think in threes with scrapbooking & design, but it came together pretty quickly!

Make sure to go check out the other girls' layouts, and join us in this challenge!

Love Being Your Mama!

Today I have a new layout to share with you for the "It Takes Two!" challenge over at the challenge blog. I used the "Truly Scrumptious" kit for my layout and the rules for this challenge basically state you can only use two of everything...

I used: 2 cardstocks, 2 patterned papers, 2 transparencies, 2 dimensional stickers, 2 Martha Stewart twine bows, 2 heart stickers, 2 kinds of alphabet stickers, 2 stick pins, 2 photos and I was maybe stretching it a little to put two knots in my piece of yellow tulle. :) The photos are from Mother's Day last year.

And finally, the March kit "Delightfully Domestic" from Noel Mignon is up for pre-order sale and will ship out later next week...

Isn't that gorgeous? And it will be full of lots of new product!

Have a great day! :)

New Source of Inspiration

Hi Everyone!!! I am going to be sharing with you the newest place I go to for inspiration. This place is amazing, and is never ending with gorgeous images and ideas! It is called Pinterest! If you have heard of it-awesome! If you have not, pm me your email on the message boards and I will send you an invite! It is amazing!

I did not realize though that I would be getting so much more from this site than just inspiration. This tool allows me to pin the things that I really like, that really speak to me, and gives me a glimpse into who I am and what I love. Looking at my boards I am able to see exactly what styles and colors and textures I really love! It really is an amazingly helpful tool! On top of that the site is full of ideas and colors that have my mind spinning with projects I am now wanting to do! :D You really must check it out! Here are a few things below that are my favs from the site so far (I included below each photo a link to the original pin and the source where given)....

Well what do you all think?!! I love this site! In case you want to follow my pins my username is 09122007. And I would love to follow you all too!! It is seriously an addicting site!
Hope you all enjoyed!
Take care!

Fussy Cutting

Today I am going to show you a couple of things you can do with fussy cutting.

I used several papers from the Truly Scrumptious kit. First, I cut the large flowers from the Pink Paislee paper. Next, I cut out the word "Love" from the Sassafras paper. Last but not least, I cut out a few flowers from the American Crafts papers. I layered them all on my layout, some with pop dots and others just directly on the page.

What fussy cutting combinations can you come up with? I'd love to see them!

Happy cutting!

Mojo Low? Make a card!

I have been mojo-less lately. Mostly because of work and deadlines, which has left me not much time for scrapping. I did, however, find time to play along with the It Takes Two challenge.

Instead of doing a layout, I do what always helps when I'm a little low on mojo - that's making cards. My cousin is getting married next month and it always helps to have the card ready when it's time.

(Truly Scrumptious)

I used two fabrics, two patterned papers, two die cuts, two rub ons, two pieces of chipboard and two pins.

So if the idea of doing a layout overwhelms you, take a few minutes and crank out a card, then give it to someone you love.

xoxo,
Steph

after school buds

This is an every day occurrence in our house during the week. Tucker (the pup) is my bud all day long until the kids come home from school. He is so excited to see the kids but most especially for my son to come home.
He will bug him, jump on him, nibble his fingers and sniff his head until Ben plays with him. He won't stop...it's quite hilarious! And only right after school. This pup definitely loves his buddy Ben :)

Very Virginia kit used for this layout

ETA - Thanks to one of my blog readers I realized that I goofed up the last line of my journaling. I blame pregnancy brain! ha! But all is fixed now :)

This layout is based on the 'It Takes Two' challenge over at the challenge blog.

The challenge is to use 2 (and only 2 ) of each item on your layout...i.e., 2 patterned papers, 2 metal embellishments, 2 flowers, etc.
Use whatever you want but you can only use 2. I found it to be a bit challenging at first but then when I figured out everything I wanted to use it was pretty easy! It actually forced me to create a pretty simple layout that I'm quite happy with.
So here's what I used:
2 pictures
2 cardstock (yellow for background & white for journaling)
2 patterned papers
2 buttons
2 metal brads
2 alphas
2 stickers
2 threads (white & blue/white in buttons)
2 die cuts
2 inks (black for date & brown for distressing)

Be sure to try this challenge & head over to the challenge blog for more details!

Support Layout

Here's another layout I have done using the Truly Scrumptious kit... I have really loved this kit and still have so many more planned in my head to use it up! (now to just find the time... isn't that always the case?) lol...

(sorry for the glare on the photos... I forgot my good camera and had my husbands not so good one... so these were the best of the pictures that day! :( )

and a close up... I used the Liquid Pearls to decorate and give dimension to the large doily heart!

Thanks for stopping by!! :)

6x6

Do you ever make 6x6 pages?
I am usually a 12x12 girl with the occasional 8.5x11 thrown in.
But over the past several months I have been making 6x6 pages for some of the races I have run.
I am compiling them all into this 6x6 album by Pink Paislee.
Bluecanvas
It has a ring binder so I can add pages as I go!
6x6 does not leave alot of extra room so I usually do a double-page spread.
I use a single picture and make sure to include just the highlights in my journaling: date, location, and my time.
Now I usually end up doing a 12x12 page about the run also {well, if it is a fun one!} and use it to include all the pictures of the day and more detailed journaling if needed.
But I think it will be fun to have this album where I can keep a record of all my runs in one place!
{you know, so when I am old & have bad knees, I can pull it out and be like, "See what I used to be able to do!!"}
Here is the latest page I added to the album...
Supplies: most everything is from Truly Scrumptious but I pulled the chipboard letters from Very Virginia & the chipboard stars are from my stash
For good measure, here are a couple other pages from my album too... Small pages + simple design = quick pages!
I really wish I had started an album like this for some other things like Nascar races we have been too, Disney trips, etc.
Maybe I will eventually get around to it!

Don't forget that the newest kit {Delightfully Domestic} is up for pre-order today!
Get yours while the getting is good!!
Happy Monday!

bokeh my heart

I had so much fun playing with my camera just a little bit when I was putting away the Christmas stuff.. If you've never heard of the term "bokeh", plug it in on flickr and you'll see some really lovely stuff. It's essentially that gorgeous background blur that you get with a shallow depth of focus in your photos. Some of the images you pull up may even have shaped bokeh like what I have pictured! All the little hearts in the photos are just a pile of Christmas lights photographed out of focus, with a heart shaped bokeh filter over my lens...

If you're interested in trying it out, Photojojo has a great bokeh filter kit on their site! It's so much fun to play with...

This was my take on the sketch challenge that's up right now! More deliciousness from the Truly Scrumptious kit... ^_^

Shifting gears...

I'm usually a layout kinda girl, but lately I'm finding the instant gratification of cards veeeery intriguing. This box base idea was originally designed by SRM stickers, and I've used it to make quite a few samples for them. BUT THEN I got the new Anna Griffin in the mail a couple of days ago, and I haven't been able to keep my hands off of it!! It just called out to me, "Make me into a cute gift card box!" Literally, you should have been there, it totally happened...

So I've fallen madly deeply in love with both the box idea and the Carmen line of goodies, and here's what their love child looks like!

Does that not just make you want to dig out all those purty papers you've been hoarding because they're too precious to use and make something great?!? Oh, and I also used my new favorite stuff - Viva Decor Pearl Pen in cream for the pearl dots you see on the outside of the box. FABULOUS STUFF!!
