Flashback Friday Halloween edition

Happy Halloween everyone!! I'm super excited that it's finally Halloween. There's nothing like candy and good costume to make for a fun evening. It's also a fun time to look back at Halloweens of the past and see just how much the kids have grown and how their tastes in costume have changed. That's exactly what I did with my layout today. I flashed back to 2008 when I only had 2 sweet little girls (we've added a little boy since this pic) and they got to REALLY trick-or-treat for the first time.

I called my layout "Lovin' This" using the My Mind's Eye rub-ons that came in the kit. The arrow and little triangles are also from that sheet of rub-ons. And staying with the flash back theme, I dug deep into my Pinterest account and found a layout from a favorite designer, Jen Jockish, and used one of her layouts that I'd pinned (waaaay back) as my inspiration. Then I went with the "2" theme, because it's neat to look back and see what our family looked like minus one. Admittedly, I can't remember a lot from those days thanks to major sleep deprivation. To fit the "2" theme, I used the wood print die-cut that came in my kit as well as the "Admission for Two" Fancy Pants ticket stub. Then I added more rub-ons, some chipboard 3D stickers, my journaling, and called it finished.

Thanks so much for joining me today as I flashed back to our Halloween 2008.

Hope you have a fantastic Halloween tonight and make many memories!!

Happy Halloween!

trick or treat!

Hey guys! I have a Halloween layout to share today :)

Ever feel like all of your holiday layouts have the same title?? I think most of my Halloween layouts either say "happy Halloween" or "trick or treat"! haha Not too inventive when it comes to layout titles...but I'm totally ok with that :)

I'm loving all of the colors in the Early Autumn kit and what I'm finding is that they're perfect for a multitude of themes...not just fall or Halloween. But, of course, since Halloween is in just one day (eek!!!) I figured I'd share that one today!

I used one of those great printable cards that Virginia shared last week. I foresee using those on many pages! Originally I was going to color on it but then opted to print it on one of the patterned papers that had a grey side on the back. In doing that it gave the card a bit of color so I simply inked the edges and added some of those great "pop drops" stars to the top!

I was also inspired by Virginia's layout this week so I added some doodling around my page. Her pages almost always have some cute doodling on them!!

And now it's time for me to get cracking on finishing up this year's costumes and getting some Halloween treats ready for Friday!!

Fall and lots of Fancy Pants

Hey there!

I have another "Early Autumn" project to share with you today!

This kit is packed as always and this month features  lots of goodness from Fancy Pants' True Friend collection. Some of us on the Noel Mignon team were able to create a Fancy Pants-focused project for their newsletter this month and this is the page I made:

I used a metal die to cut the leaves for the background using a variety of Fancy Pants True Friend patterned papers. I used the mist included in the "Early Autumn" kit to add some droplets to my background before adhering the leaves.

I mixed in some of the True Friend sequins with the paper leaves and mist droplets.

I used some twine from my stash to wrap around one of the cute library pockets from the True Friend collection. I added some extra leaves and a sticker to the front of the pockeet before adding it to my page.

I added lots of other stickers to the page before finishing of with some handwritten journaling.

Ghoulies and Ghosties - Early Autumn Kit

For us in the South, Autumn has been very reluctant to arrive. Sure, we've had our chilly mornings, but there's been very few pretty leaves so far. I am a little surprised at what a green Halloween we might have this year! So the Early Autumn kit from NoelMignon has been lovely to work with this month to get my fix of fall colors!

I pulled out last year's Halloween pics this week to work with. It always takes me aback to see how much my kids have changed in just one year.

I was inspired by Deanna's post last week to crop down my photos with my trimmer... I so rarely do that these days because I typically fill my photographs the whole way and can't really lose any of the image, but I forgot how easy it is to just trim your photography by hand and not have to worry about ordering the right sizes! Since I was using photos that were the same size as Project Life cards, I went ahead and used one of the free printables I shared last week to balance it out. I loved how Deanna used it with watercolors and I wanted to try something else to color it- so I pulled out my color pencils. I love how forgiving they are and how they added just the right amount of color!

Be on the lookout for the Maple Creek kits to ship to your doors this week! There are still a few Daily Diary kits left- it's the perfect chance to get a taste of a NM kit with a lower price!

DIY Costumes

Hello friends! Today, I am going to share a fun little project that I made using the Early Autumn kit with you!
For Halloween costumes this year, we decided to use things we had around the house to make our own costumes. Our oldest daughter was easy, she wanted to me a mad hatter, so we went online and looked at some different costumes and put together a fun, bright, and very mismatched costume for her...she even ended up winning first prize in a costume contest at one of our local festivals! For our little guy, again, easy, he's just like his daddy, and loves all things trucks and tools...so of course, he had to be a little mechanic!
For our middle daughter, we had a bit of a harder time. We started out with her wearing an older witch costume that we had, but she was not happy with that one at all, so we started brainstorming, and she decided she wanted to be a scarecrow! Easy, a flannel shirt, some jeans, her cowboy boots and she was good. I wanted to make something a little fun for her to wear along with it though! So, in came my Noel Mignon kits!
I started off with the Fancy Pants burlap bow that came in our "Sweet & Simple" classic kit. Then using supplies from the "Early Autumn" kit, I embellished it and made a cute and simple bow for her to wear in place of a hat!

This was very simple to put together...but it made for a fun memory that I know have of this Halloween with my girl! She picked out the embellishments that she wanted, and helped lay everything together.,.,and she LOVES it! :)

Don't forget sub spots for the next term are still open, and the awesome new Maple Creek kit went up for sale today!! Head over and check it out!

Trick or Treat?

Trick or Treat? Well, TREAT of course!! And maybe a little trick too.

On Wednesday Virginia gave us all a TREAT by creating a free printable sheet of Halloween pocket page inserts. I took full advantage and immediately printed several copies of those babies. Not only do I plan to use them in my PL book, but I also thought it'd be another "treat" to show how I'd use them on a 12x12 layout, and here's how that turned out.

First, I printed Virginia's printable on cardstock. I coulda, shoulda, wish I woulda, printed them on watercolor paper too (note to self for next time) but the cardstock worked just fine too. After I printed the cards, I pulled out a couple of my favorite watercolor paints. I wet the entire insert with plain water first, then went back and added orange to the top and bottom of the card. I proceeded to play with the paint until it bled into all the places I wanted it to. And last I dried it with my heat gun.  One TRICK I've learned is that after the front is dry, you can wet the backside of the card and blow dry it too and then it won't be quite as warped. To embellish my newly painted card, I backed it with gray paper poked 2 holes in it at the top of both the gray and painted cards, and laced the gray ribbon from the Early Autumn kit through them and tied a bow. Easy peasy. This watercolor technique and embellishment could be use for either a PL album OR a layout. I chose to work it in to my layout.

I'd love to see how you use these printable tags! Be sure to share with us on the Noel Mignon Members Facebook page!

Happy Friday everyone!

Easy Halloween frame!

Hey there! I have a bit of a treat for you all in the way of a fun and easy Halloween frame idea!
I found this great burlap frame in the clearance section at Hobby Lobby & figured it'd be the perfect backdrop for a Halloween display.
I started with some vintage dictionary pages (if you notice, I did take care with which pages I picked...Halloween, vampire, etc!) Then I pulled out bits and pieces of a leftover Halloween kit & just began layering with the rub-ons & embellishments. I also added some orange inking around the edges. I also took out the glass of the frame so the embellishments would have room.
See? Easy peasy! You can create a similar frame with one of Noel's mini kits - like the Masquerade kit - over in the shop!

You can also Modpodge old book papers onto a plastic pumpkin. I thought I had a picture of the one I did last year but I couldn't find it :( But it was similar to this:
I just cut the papers into strips and attached them to the pumpkin with Modpodge. A little time consuming but very easy!

Here's another project I found on Pinterest using vintage book papers:

Dino Baby!

Trick or Treat? Well, today you get a trick from me. Not a terribly fancy one, but a nice and easy one, that's for sure!

Yesterday I finished up my son's Halloween costume, and snapped a couple of pics to remember him in it, before he inevitable barfs and/or poops all over it. I just love it. And he is, I have to say, the chillest baby ever. He crawled all over the house in that thing. Never took his hoodie off, waggling that tail up and down the hall. LOVE THAT GUY!

I jotted down a few thoughts about the day on one of those adorable October Afternoon journaling cards from my Early Autumn Daily Diary kit, and stole the "lovely day" card from my much-loved Tea For Two kit. I have a tendency to want to fill all empty spaces with journaling, so it is a real win for me that I was able to resist on that card.

As for my trick - I grabbed one of the 3x4 filler cards and the stamp set from the Daily Diary kit and went to town. I used a tinted embossing ink and white embossing powder to add as much contrast as possible. To finish it off I pop-dotted on that super cute "hello there" diecut. I love having a totally unique filler card every now and then. And it's so easy it feels like cheating.

I hope you're loving the start of our Holiday Season as much as I am! Happy scrapping, friends!

I'll Get You My Pretty

Hello and Happy Monday!! Today is the start of two fun filled Halloween themed weeks! We are going to show you some fun ways to use the Early Autumn kit to make Halloween themed projects!

I am starting out with a witchy layout for you today! I struggled a bit with what papers to use on this, her costume was only orange, black, and green, so most papers I tried clashed with the darker colors of her costume....but I was able to find some fun papers and embellishments that worked perfectly, and made for a fun layout!

I loved the little owl included with the Fancy Pants button pack, and knew that I had to find a spot of this layout for it! It went perfect with my witchy theme!

I have to say that I am loving that sequin pack from the Early Autumn kit! I haven't been a huge fan of them  in the past, but the colors and sizes of these are so fun, that they are making for the perfect embellishment!! Has there every been a kit item that you weren't a fan of, until it came along and fit in so perfectly with that kit??

Remember, that sub spots are still open for the next term! Make sure you head over here, and sign up for yours today!!!

Camp Covenant

Hi there friends! I'm so glad you've stopped by today! It's finally feeling like Fall down here where I live and I couldn't be happier about it.  The cooler weather arrived just in time for the Early Autumn kit. If you're like me, then the weather tends to affect what you want to scrap, and this cool crisp air is the PERfect time to pull out this kit.

This past weekend my family went up to the mountains with our church just to hang out and have a good time. I came away with such sweet memories with my kids and all our friends. It's my hope that this page reflects the great time that we had.

Thanks for hanging with me today! I hope that you too find inspiration in the weather! Happy Fall friends, and happy scrapping!

Halloween fun times

It is hard to believe that Halloween is almost here!

Can you believe how quickly this year is flying?

Today I have a fun Halloween-ish page to share with you that I made using the "Early Autumn" kit. This picture wasn't taken on Halloween but instead at a Halloween display at a local home store. I just couldn't resist taking this picture of my daughter and then scrapping it with this fun kit. She is normally pretty reserved so it was fun to capture this moment with her.

I started off with a white carstock background. I trimmed 1/4" from each side of the white and then mounted that on a sheet of orange cardstock from the kit. I added some blue and green Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist.

To create this background I just dipped a small paintbrush into the bottle of Studio Calico Mister Huey spray mist from the kit. I then added some more splatters with Mister Huey Dewey. After the ink was dry I added my title using a mix of the Thickers, alpha stickers and rub-ons from the kit. I also added a couple of October Afternoon enamel stars.

I have never done this before but liked the look of the sheet of brads- don't they look like a strip of candy dots? I thought so and since I tend to not use all of my brads and they pile up in my stash I decided to use the entire sheet of Chickaniddy brads on my page. I just added some foam adhesive dots to the back. I used foam adhesive on back of the picture and strip of star paper as well to add some dimension to my page.
I also used lots of little stickers here and there and finished it off with handwritten journaling around the edge of the layout.

Thanks for stopping by today!
