Making Trading Cards

My son has been into making trading cards. They are for some game, but I don't know what game it is.......cuz I am not a 12 year old boy apparently! It is kind of cute, because he will head up to my scrap room, sit at "his" table and cut "cards." He used markers to draw his images and places values on each card. I especially love when he tells me it is a "rare" card! I documented this creative side to him using Noel's Five Foot Two kit (sold out!) and some 7 Gypsies.
I snuck a few of his cards (Don't worry I didn't take his "rare" cards! LOL!) and made a little booklet for them. I tucked an envelope behind the photo to put the booklet in.
See? And the kid has no idea I have his cards in my scrapbook........: )

Hope you have a fabulous Friday!!!

Happy Thursday!

Oh, can't believe this month has come to an end. I made this layout using five foot two kit, this was such a beautiful kit! I had so much fun.
I just love that Ethan says wips instead of lips. I've corrected him several times, but he can't pronounce the "l". I find it adorable. I just had to create something to remind myself of this cute speech.
Have an awesome week!

Vintagey Sign and B'day Card

Last week was my dad & mom's birthdays. (Yes, they fall a day apart!!) I made this little card for my dad using the Jenni Bowlin bingo card and Maya Road sheer from the Eyes of Blue kit (5 left!) and the red twill from the Five Foot Two kit. The letter stickers & white chipboard are American Crafts from my stash.

I also made this "vintagey" sign from bits and pieces of the same kits, along with some things from my stash. The base of the sign is actually a metal serving dish that I've distressed with white paint and sealed with Acrylic Sealant.

I used a whole bunch of different things here, including some Jenni Bowlin Chalkboard Alpha Stickers and October Afternoon Cherry Hill Word stickers.

Miss Easy Going

So I have had these pictures printed out for a couple weeks know what I was going to do with them - but I just got around to working with them this past weekend! I used both the Eyes of Blue kit AND the Five Foot Two kit. These prima papers were so bringht and perfect.

You see, my daughter loves to hug and carry princess around. Well I have had cats for many years growing up and really not one of them would have been so accomidating for so LONG! But so far so good with Princess - she basically lets alyson do whatever she wants - even put her in a shopping cart - and only lets a little squeal out when she wants to be left alone! So you see it was very important I take these pictures as alyson was showing me how princess was letting her push her around in the cart - but also important that I document it in a layout - because really? Who knows how long this Miss Easy Going will last? She may go postal one day!

The orange letters are from sassafras and are not in the kit. As is the large orange stamped image - that is from Elle's studio.

Off to see what they are up to now.....

A Couple More Rise & Shine Projects!

I've been playing with my Rise & Shine kit . . . I just love the juicy summer colors . . . and have a couple more projects to share with you!

This page is about the potty-training struggles we've been having at our house lately. LOL! The Scenic Route chipboard numbers were the perfect way to show how many times we've tried to introduce this concept to our little one. :) I used Shimmerz paints to change the color of the Jenni Bowlin stickers for some added interest on my page. I also used them to change the color of the center of the Jenni Bowlin pearls. FUN! I grabbed a rubon from the Five Foot Two kit to add to the plastic circle.

I then made a card using some scraps from the Rise & Shine kit. I used spray ink (Shimmerz Spritz) on the bookpaper to give a bit of color & shine. The stamps are by Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker. I used my computer to type the sentiment.

Have a great week!

Bookpaper

I have had such a thing for BOOKPAPER lately! I love that it's another "neutral" I can add to my pages to give the eye a rest. Next time you go to reach for a sheet of black, white, cream, or kraft cardstock . . . try replacing it with a sheet of bookpaper and see how you like the results!

I have used it for a background:

To cover chipboard letters:

Layer punched circles behind other accents to give them more visual weight:

Punch (stars) or cut it (clouds) into accents:

Layered it as part of a flower:

Spritzed it with spray inks or color washed it with paint:

It's fun! And it's also an inexpensive way to add a sense of "history" and texture to your pages. I bought an old book at a second-hand store for $2. That book will last me a long time.

Give it a try and have fun!
I can't wait to see what you do with bookpaper!

City Park N.O. Louisiana

This is by far my favorite city (next to Chicago)
I am so lucky to live so close and have family there as well.

When i took off for spring break mom and i took the kids to city park to play and then we went and helped my cousin clean her empty house after the contractors so she could move in.

I used the Sold out 5'2 kit and the Eyes of Blue(which there is only a few left)

Tomorrow is a new challenge over on challenge blog. Be sure to check it out and play along with us.

See you next week!

P.S. If you haven't signed up for michelle lanning's photoshop cheat class you still have time. You can go here to see what it's all about.

Beach Babies!

I love going to Michigan for the 4th of July because I get a chance to see my nieces and nephews. They are just the cutest! Katie and Alex had a blast playing on the beach! My favorite pic is of Katie with her life vest on and the inner tube......doesn't she look like she is having fun? LOL!

I used Noel's Five Foot Two (sold out) & Eyes of Blue kit ( 5 left!)for this. I did a bit of stitching to bring out the red a bit. I created the sandy beach with strips of paper, texture paste, and sand. After it's dry glue down to LO. I did the same with the letters. I tucked a few stamped images into my "beach."

Have a great weekend!!!

1970-something

Hello happy Thursday!
This challenge was definitely a challenge. I am not a 2 page scrapper and boy did it show! I struggled, but finally made this:

I found these 2 pictures in a file cabinet while looking for some documents. This is Albert and I at 1-2 yr old. It was 1970 something.... It was nice to find such priceless pictures.

Backyardigans

I don't know about y'all, but at our house, I feel like I watch more Nick Jr. and Disney than anything else! LOL

Of course, I'm constantly looking for inspiration, and I have always loved the words to the theme song for the show "Backyardigans." That's where I got my journaling & title for this layout I made for the two-page layout challenge!

I used that cool die cut paper and a page from the Maya Road album (to make the tree)
from the Eyes of Blue kit. I love how the die cut paper has the holes already punched in the scallops!
I was greatly inspired by Gretchen McElveen for this layout... she rocks the two pagers and I figured- why try to reinvent the wheel when I can get ideas from the creative genius?! I love how she often backs her letters with pieces of patterned paper, so I had to tr that this time around too.
(This was created with the Five Foot Two and Eyes of Blue kits! There's still a couple of Eyes of Blue kits available, if ya want to snag one up- they are super cute!)

Were you one of the lucky ones that was able to grab one of the "Day By Day" kits? If you were, you might want to think about signing up for my companion class.

I'm providing you with instructions and techniques, ideas for how to record your year with detail (but also with ease!), and some exclusive printables. This is so much more than a planner- it's a memory keeping device and organizer for all those layouts about moments, events, and day to day living. I have some fun ideas and techniques to help you utilize this planner to its extreme!

(Scroll to the bottom to click the "Buy Now" button to purchase my class)
The class will include printables (even some hand drawn images!)for your planner, lots and lots of ideas & inspiration, a system for getting your 2010 events & memories recorded, and some other fun surprises!

2 pager??

Well I don't know about you - but 2 pagers are a little hard for me. I mean it requires a little more thinking and planning and lately that has not been my thing - LOL! But I do forget that when you do a 2 pager you get to add many more pictures without the layout looking crowded which is awesome! So my contribution to the newest Noel challenge is this layout. I used all Noel kits except for alphas and journal spot. Thanks for checking in!

Last Day

Here's a 2-pager using the 5 Foot 2 kit. :) (the cardstock and pearls are from my stash). I pieced together strips of the patterned paper, Hambly and cardstock, hiding the "seams" behind other elements so you wouldn't know I didn't use continuous sections of them. It worked out great! (click on pictures for a larger view)

Be sure to check out the New Noel Mignon Challenge going up on Monday!

Baby Blue Eyes

Here is a LO I finished up this morning after having it sit on my desk for nearly a week...(don't you hate when that happens)! ;-)
I used papers from the Five Foot Two and Eyes of Blue kits and added in a couple of AC photo corners, some Hambly rub ons, Blue and Silver thickers, and then used the brand new Melissa Frances Gems to border my circles! I wanted to play off of the "sparkle" in his eyes with the gems and tinsel thickers. This is from 52 sketches #27!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekends! Be sure to check back tomorrow as the August kit goes up for sale bright and early! This is a special kit for August...the first project kit I have ever put together, and it is pretty awesome. I had direction from our DT member Virginia, and as you can see from her work, she has quite the eye for detail and "special touches". Grab one for yourself, or to put together and give as a gift. The recipient will be a happy camper! :)

See you tomorrow
