Catching up with Hello Darling

Happy Tuesday everybody !!

For this weeks project I decided to go back to 2014 and finish up some pages.
The colors of the Hello Darling kit were just right too !

As I was looking through my pictures from last May I realized that I didn't have enough pictures to fill up 2 full weeks.

One of the things that I love about pocket pages is that there are no rules. I have the option to combine weeks if I want. Or to skip weeks. I could even do it monthly if I wanted to. There are so many options.

As you well know I love to cut up pieces to use as embellishments. I cut the documented banner out of one of the 4x4 cards. It is a fun way to personalize your cards.

This week on the blog we are featuring a lot of "Cut and Color". Which means cutting things out and vibrant colors, whether it be with a cutting machine or with your hands. Another reason why I cut this out to add to my title card.

Here is a closer look at some of the journaling cards. The blue arrow was cut from another journaling card and added to some of the patterned paper from the kit.

A closer look at some of the journaling cards and photos. I just love that Say Cheese card with the camera. I added a photo of my son after he had gotten a haircut. He loves to get his hair cut because he gets a sucker afterwards.

For this card I used the top part of the Document banner (added to my title card) and added it to the side of my journaling card. I also used my cutting skills to cut out the word happiness and add the bottom of this card.

Don't you just love that pie chart card !! I used my pen to doodle around it to make it stand out more I added some letters to spell out YOU. I took a bunch of funny photos of Maddie brushing her teeth one night. She was cracking me up the whole 2 minutes !! On the bottom of the card I added a wood arrow to point to the photo.

More cutting up journaling card to make custom ones for this photo. I cut one of the journaling cards in half and added it to another. I finished it off by adding the pink sticker in the middle.

On the next card I cut the top off of one of the existing journaling card because i loved the number pattern and wanted to use it on top of the photo.

Don't afraid to make your rules when it comes to pocket pages. You can do whatever your heart desires. That is what I love about pockets. You can add a whole bunch of photos together and make it look like it all belongs.

Another tip is to cut up those cards and papers that you have. Make something unique and new with them. Trust me, it's lots of fun !!

Happy Scrapping everyone !

Documenting Easter with "Hello Darling"

Good morning everyone !!

It's Mindi here with you today sharing some pocket pages from last years Spring break. If you tuned in last week I started our families Spring Break trip. This week I finished it using more of the Hello Darling DD kit.

I kinda have 2 different pages to show today.  During our trip we did lots of stuff but we had 2 major events that we did. The first one was this smaller first page. The shared the other side last week.

Unfortunately I got sick last year and my father took the kids out for the day. I was so grateful and he did not mind at all.

With this 4x6 journaling card I cut the top part off of a journaling card and added it to some of the paper in the DD kit. I cut some of the paper up and used two of the boxes on the bottom as embellishments.

I added a few pictures on the bottom part of my page and then made a few filler cards.

Lets move on to the second page. This page is all about an Easter Celebration we went to with grandma and grandpa.

This title card was fun to put together. I first doodled around some of the hearts and then added the embellishments on the bottom. Then I cut out those adorable mason jars and then added them to the corner of the journaling card.

I cut up more of that bigger paper in the Daily Diary kit and made a 3x4 filler card. I have to say that I am loving those great gold rub ons that came in the kit !

Lots of photos and journaling cards on the bottom. I love to use this pocket page protector if I have lots of pictures, I can fit a lot of stuff on one page.

A few notes about these photos and cards. We had lots of fun at the Easter Celebration. The kids got their faces painted, the rode the ponies, had sack races, met the Easter Bunny, and of course had an Easter Egg Hunt. Lots of fun.

And with that our 2014 Easter and Spring Break of 2014 are now documented ! Yeah ! The Hello Darling kit was perfect for these memories. Not to mention the colors are gorgeous and some of my favorites right now. Thanks for coming by ! See you all next week.

P.S. Don't forget that kit subscriptions are now open. Be sure to sign up before time runs out !! You surely don't want to miss out.

Week 13 using Hello Darling...

Hi :) I'm back to share another spread in my project life album. I have used the gorgeous Hello Darling Daily Diary kit to document week thirteen.

I love using wood veneers in my albums because they add so much texture and was thrilled to find a big 4x6" veneer card in this month's kit.

I backed the cutout hearts with a subtle pattern from one of the cards in the kit then lightly colored inside each heart using water color pencils. I added water to create a soft color wash then attached a mix of stickers over the front to create a fun title card for the week.

Creating layouts in a weekly format often makes it difficult to predict what sort of colors my photos will feature, but I have learnt to work around this by focusing instead on the colors that I select for my journal and filler cards and then find accent pieces to match.

I wanted a clean fresh look across the page and kept my embellishments to a minimum, focusing on a few key pieces and mainly used simple journal strips and stickers to help tell the story in each photo.

With another mix of random colored photos on the second page, I kept my palette colors concentrated towards the center of the page which helps draw the eye to this point before moving across the rest of the layout.

It's always fun to include a few focal pieces and here I cut around the camera image from a filler card to create a big bold accent paired with a smaller photo.

Don't forget that the Jul - Dec Subscriptions are now open so be sure to secure your kits before they are all gone. Thanks for stopping by xx

Pocket Pages with Hello Darling

Good afternoon everyone, Brenda Smith here. I received my April Daily Diary kit, Hello Darling, last week and was so excited to see all the yummy cards and embellishments in there. If you'd like to see the video I made of myself going through the kit, you can find it here.

There are several fun horizontal-oriented cards in this kit that I wanted to play around with so I found the perfect page protector in my stash by SEI. It's 10x12 and includes three horizontal 4x6s and four horizontal 3x4s.

It's been a tough couple of weeks with my kiddos. Both have been extra wild and ornery so I've been trying to keep them busy. But with the extra attention I've been paying them, I've also been slacking on picture taking. The pictures that I do have are not perfectly composed or well-lit but I think they still do well to tell the story of these days.

I love the subtle dimension that the doily gives when placed under the photo. I topped it off with some of the striped washi and that perfect wood veneer.

My husband and I went on a little mini vacation with some friends and had the best time. It was just what we needed to refresh after the chaos that is our everyday lives. I wanted to keep this side somewhat simple to allow the photos to shine and tell the story.

Since I am lacking in photos to represent a somewhat eventful week, I made sure to journal a lot to tell the part of the story that was not represented by photos. While I love to photos to look back on, I am trying to be better at not getting consumed by the notion that every event must be fully documented by photos. I think I'm getting better at enjoying the moment while I'm in it, but that doesn't mean that I don't sneak in a few photos here and there.

Make sure you share with us everything you are making with your Hello Darling kits. And if you have not already, join the NoelMignon Facebook group for more inspiration from the design team and subscribers alike.
