Using Your Stash

Let's just admit it...most of us probably have a huge stash of scrapbooking supplies. I know I have been "collecting" products for years!!!! :) One of the things I try to challenge myself to do each time I create is to use something - ANYTHING - from my stash.

Another great way to use up your stash and all those scraps laying around is to create cards. I created a set of masculine cards using the new "Office Party" kit and tried to incorporate just a few items from my stash into the cards.

For this first card, I made a quilt block using 1-1/2" squares of patterned paper. The ticket die-cut is from the kit. I grabbed a couple buttons, rub-ons and some twine from my stash.

On this card, I used a Martha Stewart starburst punch and cut the starbursts in half to make banners. The twine, rub-on and rhinestones are all from my stash.

For this card, I used a label sticker, twine and rub-on from my stash. Everything else came from the kit.

On this card, I used a button, twine and brad from my stash.

Be sure and stop by the message board to participate in all the great crop challenges this week! My challenge today is to create two masculine cards and I would love to see what you create! :)

Use Your Stash

Do you have lots of bits and pieces left over from different paper collections and kits? I know I do!

One of my favorite ways to use up my extra supplies is by participating in a color challenge. I recently joined the team at Color Combos Galore and have really enjoyed taking a color scheme and inspiration photo, collecting supplies from all around and my scrap room, and combining them in a new way that I wouldn't have thought of on my own.

Here is the latest page I created for Inspiration Board #149.

The background paper is My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus. The Pink Polka dot is from the baby themed "Ducks in a Row" collection by October Afternoon. The green paper is from the Monster-Themed "Night Light" collection by October Afternoon. And the wood-grained paper is an older piece by Pink Paislee.

Who knew I could combine all these papers together to create a soft, girly page?! I certainly wouldn't have thought to do this on my own.

So next time you look at your stash of supplies, and you're not quite sure what to do with what you've got . . . try a color challenge that will help you to combine your existing supplies in a new way.

Also, this week, I wanted to share with you the page I created for the Independence Challenge on the Noel Mignon Challenge Blog. The first time I started to feel "independent" in my life was when I learned to drive and purchased my own car. :)

I loved feeling a bit of financial freedom from my parents and proud of myself that I was being responsible paying for my own car. I loved that I got to choose this big ticket item myself, and I felt like I could now go anywhere in the world, anytime I wanted. It was a very liberating experience for me.

When was a time in your life that you felt independent? Come on over to the CHALLENGE BLOGand play along with us!

Happy Thursday!

Using Your Stash!

Okay, I admit it. When it comes to a scrapbooking I am through-and-through a hoarder of supplies and tools, a "collector" if you will. :D Sound familiar?! Hehehe! ;)

Well, today I wanted to challenge myself to incorporate items from my stash onto my current page. I decided to pull out my acrylic stamps. I went through a feeding frenzy stage of collecting them, but rarely make myself pull them out. It's time to put those babies to good use!

I used stamps to create my title, star page accents and a star border. And you know what?!! I had a blast with them! I need to make myself pull out my stamps more often!

How about you? Do you have a stamp stash that could use some dusting off?

Have a creative week!

P.S. DON'T FORGET to get your DT Applications in for the best kit club EVER!!! :D :D :D Just reminding you that the due date is May 10th . . . just a week away!
