Greetings from Disney World

yep yep!!!! We are on our second day at Disney and right now I am at MGM Studios in Disney watching the Star Wars parade and tribute they have going on. Melana is such a Star Wars fan so I was so excited that this was happening right now. We are hoping to get a few autographs for her :) In particular Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

This was taken in 2006 when Melana was 2 1/2 and she just couldn't believe her eyes...all she could do was stare at her. :) This year I didn't tell them we were going. So you can imagine the excitement on her face when we drove up.

Anyway here is a quick little idea for you. Instead of buying postcards from the store how about making them yourself.

I don't know about your family but mine love to see my layouts so I decided that I would print a picture of a layout on cardstock(or photo paper) in 4x6 size and adhere it to another piece of cardstock with the traditional post card backing.

Here are a few of the backings of a post card for you:

If you are going to print on photo paper and you have a laminating machine
i would do your postcard and your writing and then laminate it. I did mine on cardstock just because I am cheap and didn't want to waste what few sheets of photo paper I have left. :)

Here is mine:

Before I go I just want to say that I have enjoyed the last few years on this team.
After looooooooooong and hard consideration I decided not to reapply because of personal reasons. I have been having some issues with my 6 year old and I need to get her back on the right track. Exhausting I tell ya.

I will still see ya'll on the boards when I get back on June 7th!

Happy Sunday!

2 Beauty's

I figured I better go ahead and get most (or at least try to get most) of my Disney pics scrapped that were left before we went back. I would hate to be 2 trips behind :)
I ran across this one when i was searching and it cracked me up because we were on day 3 there and this particular day were we eating lunch at Cinderella's Castle. She still could not get over that she was able to meet all the princesses.

Do you have any older photos from past vacations that still need to be scrapped?

Happy Sunday!

Playdate Color Scheme

I love looking at the 100 Layer Cake Blog for color inspiration among many other things. If you haven't bookmarked this blog I would highly recommend it.

If you noticed I wanted a layer effect to the scallop border at the top of my pic so what i did was take my ole trusty sharpie and draw the lines inside the edge a bit and then draw the scallop on the outside of the border and it gives that illusion there are to of them that I layered when in fact it is only one...love that. see if you don't have two of something then you just do it the "thrifty" way ;)

Ad Challenge

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! Hope you all have a relaxing day I know I am.
Today I have an ad challenge for you. I love google and searching for inspiration and I came across 4 ad's in particular that just stood out to me. But this one kept calling my name. It was a combination of the colors and the circles...

The ad:

Me Myself and I challenge page

I am so in love with this kit until i can't stand myself...the bright colors will suck me in everytime.
I added a bit of stickles on my cloud down at the bottom because he was screaming "bling me up a bit" as well as the sun. and I layered some stickers on stuff with pop dots.
In order for you do be able to do that if you sprinkle a bit of baby powder on the back of a sticker it takes the adhesive off and then you can pop it up with out it sticking to anything elseand possibly going flat on you :) I have been doing this for years with stickers. It works fabulous!

Maximizing chipboard

Have you ever mentally decided how many letters of each chipboard you needed for a title and then realize once you started sticking that you would not have enough?
Yea..me too.. grrrr!!!! It just happened to me.

Here is a quick tip I saw a while back to solve that problem

Peel apart some layers of the chipboard to make them thinner and VOILA!

You could paint, mist, or ink them..even run them through your cuttlebug for texture...whatever floats your boat.

So next time you are in a bind remember this quick fix or heck even if you aren't in a bind that is a sure way to make your chipboard letters or shapes last longer.

Here is a page I did using the Sold Out Sonoma County Kit.

and one I did using the Playdate Kit (Sold Out)

This was Mason's 1st day of Kindergarten...now he is goin in the 3rd grade...eeekkk... I'm trying to catch up :)

Last but not least if ya'll are still hanging with me... I saw a tutorial a long time ago on a purse made from a book and for whatever reason i remembered it. I cut out the pages of a Sue Grafton Book that I had double copies of and made this little purse for Melana...she thinks she is hot stuff now :)

After I took these pics I realized a few things needed fixing so I did that and also I know what not to do next time i make one. Which i am in the process of now because her little bff in the neighborhood wants one. We'll see if that one turns out a wee bit better in the inside...

Happy Sunday!! I wish i had some football to watch :(

Sunday Sketch

We had a fun message board challenge going a few weeks back so I thought I would share my sketch with you if you are not a member of our rockin community.

For those that don't know I am a HUGE Saints Fan and I am very lucky I live in Saints Nation so for me this was bittersweet. This layout was very very emotional for me to scrap. Quite a few tears were shed during this scrap session ;) Many Many saints memories with my paw paw. I have a lot more i want to say so i will turn this into a 2 pager but the second page is going to be nothing but journaling.

i changed it to an 8.5x11 and turned it a bit...

My Extended Family :)

Without revealing to much this is my layout for the new challenge that will be out tomorrow. Be sure to check back here and participate. I promise you it will be so much fun!

This is using the paper doll kit and a glimpse into some my sewing machines that respectively have names. Sergio and Ethel..poor Lucy was left out because i just use her now to sew with specialty threads. Thor was also left out because i am going to do a page specifically on him and my love of embroidering anything i can get my hands on. :)
