Classroom Decor

I had an old window painting that a friend have me that I had decorated a few years ago with some scrapbook papers... But in getting my MDO classroom ready, I realized I needed something to hang above my sink area and this would work perfectly! I pulled off the old papers... 

(You can see why I had the original art covered- not my style!) 

And then I covered it with papers from the Boardwalk kit. It's not the most elaborate or original idea, but sometimes you don't need to reinvent the wheel!

I think this will be a perfect happy spot in my classroom!

Hi friends, Happy Monday! I hope you've had a great weekeend!

Did you enjoy the Back To School crop last week at Noel Mignon?
I did! I'm sad it's finished. Lucky for all of you that if you haven't finished your

assignments yet - you have until tomorrow! yeah! Bonus Points!

No...I mean, Extra Credit!

Today I'm just sharing my layout I did for my class Friday morning: 
Math (Pre-Algebra) -

 

I added the Boardwalk kit along with the Evening Stroll kit together to create

this page. I found this fabulous "bingo" card at a local antique store. I wish I'd bought more now! I only got 2 of them. What's so unique about it - it's chipboard! Added depth, a little 3D action going on my page.

Teddy Bear

Hi everyone! I hope your week got off to a great start yesterday. I dug into the Evening Stroll kit over the weekend for my second layout kit. Last week I shared my layout "Baby Doll" that featured a photo of my mom holding her doll when she was little so I thought it would be fun to follow that up this week with a photo of my dad from his childhood holding his stuffed teddy bear.

To add some visual interest and contrast to the repeating pattern in the yellow Studio Calico paper, I cut out some of the centers of the paper and backed it with coordinating papers.

For some dimension I placed the blue Queen & Co. goosebumps in the center of the flowers and then popped up some of the yellow cut outs.

I trimmed my patterned paper with a strip of blue paper and scalloped tissue paper.

For my title, I used various embellishments and stickers along with the Prima label stamp and ink. The journaling is included on the "noted" die-cut and tucked under the photo.

All supplies for this layout are from the Evening Stroll kit except for the blue mist, which is from the Boardwalk kit. I hope you are enjoying the super versatile Evening Stroll kit as much as I am. Make sure to share your layouts with us on the message board.

Hi everyone! Happy Monday!

hope you've had a fantastic weekend!

I'm here to share a quick layout I made this weekend of my 2 kiddo's using
the gorgeous August West Coast kit:

That kit is now totally sold out but Noel packed a limited edition West Coast kit

you'll want to get your hands on fast!

Noel sure knows how to pack a huge, delicious, amazing kit!
I've only made 4 layouts with this kit this month & could go on and on making

so many more!

I also used some elements from the July Boardwalk kit such as the mask, ink & rub ons.

I loved Echo Parks Everyday Eclectic by Allison Kreft. Especially the hot air balloons.
I thought they were perfect examples of my kiddo's heading off to college again for their 2nd

and 3rd years.

 

My title represents the one sound they could recognize from miles away. Me clicking

my camera. They're so used to it, they automatically know what to do. Well most of the time.

ha!

 

I hope you've enjoyed the examples from this kit.
It's such a great one & I sure hope you were able to get your hands on it!

Just wait until you see next month's kit. I just got mine & am already diving into it.

Getting the most from you punches!

Hi everyone! I'm back this week with a layout using the July Boardwalk kit and I have a fun little tip for getting more from your punches. You do have a punch or two laying around, right? I know I do! :)

Have you ever thought about using them to make a shape other than what the manufacturer originally intended? I did just that when I pulled out my beloved Jenni Bowlin Blue Ribbon punch. Obviously, its intended for making ribbons with these pieces.

It is great for that, but I noticed how the flowers in the Pebbles paper were almost the exact same shape as the medallion part of the punch so I switched gears and started punching the shape in various colors to make flowers.

For the leaves I punched the shapes in a green paper and rounded the square edge of each piece to make leaves, then I attached the leaves under the flower.

Once they were assembled I scattered them on the page for a whimsical look.

They look almost identical to the smaller flower in the Pebbles paper, don't you think?

Hi everyone! I'm here with a layout using chevrons for our Monday Inspiration. I carried the chevron design through my layout in my shapes and the pattern of my paper!

I used the July Boardwalk kit...the bright colors are perfect for summer photos!  The flair button can be found in the shop. Here are a couple close-ups for you.

In home decorations, on clothing, on scrapbook pages. 

EVERYWHERE. I ♥ it!

I'm a fan. BIG fan. Especially when arrows are part of the mix.

Today I'm sharing a layout I made with arrows & chevrons.
It's part of the Monday Inspiration over at the Noel Mignon board!

I had so much FUN making this layout.
Adding elements from the kit really tied it all together.

Getting sketchy with Julie!

Here's my take, using the Boardwalk kit:

I loved how the pearl stickers added a bit of a reminder of "splashes." 

I wasn't sure how I was going to use the cute little "Boardwalk" card when I first got the kit, and I kept saving it for something special. I think it fits right in with our splashpad pics! 

I can't wait to see how all of you interpret Julie's sketch! 

You're Still the One!

My husband and I celebrated 23 years of marriage earlier this month. I thought it would be fun to put together a layout that showed although a lot has changed over the years we've been together, one thing remains the same...he's still the one!

I used the July Boardwalk kit. The butterflies and bright summery papers were perfect for the occasion.

The butterfly button was designed and made by Shelley, our guest designer last month. This button and many more can be purchased in the shop.

Sometimes I like to incorporate my title right in with the journaling, like I did here. I stamped my journaling first and then used the Pink Paislee alphabet stickers to create the title at the end of the journaling block. The larger size helps to put an emphasis on the title.

The girl with kaleidoscope eyes...

Elizabeth posted a fun vintage circus themed "Inspiration Monday"  this week, and that theme has been bouncing around in my head this week. When I began working on my layout for today's post, I naturally went to our Inspiration Monday pinterest board  for a little jumpstart. 

I loved all the bright happy colors, the stars and banners, and the stripes. This particular image jumped out at me:

So it was the jumping off point for this layout- can you see the inspo?

I cut apart the piece of Echo Park striped paper and formed rays out from my picture. I worked hard at being bright & colorful and staying true to my style, without getting too busy looking. Part of the way I did that was by keeping all of the embellishing pulled in close to the picture, including my misting droplets. 

My photo was one I originally instagrammed, but I cropped & printed it at 4x6 instead of the standard instagram square. The lovely sparkles on it are actually a digitized bokeh that I made with an iPhone app filter (picfx).
