Not Again!!

Hi everyone! Amanda here with a layout to share with you!

I really loved this chevron paper from Fancy Pants that was included in the Our Summer kit. The colors were awesome, and I really wanted to use it. I couldn't bring myself to cut it up though, and its way out of my comfort zone for a background. I decided to just go for it though!!

So since I was already out of my comfort zone,  I decided to just have fun with this. I literally just started adhering, and went with it! I really love the way it tuned out too! I might have to try this method more often! :)

I thought all these fun bright colors went perfectly with my photo and story. We were at a skate party this past winter, and my youngest daughter wanted to get out there and skate so bad, but she had never been before. So, of course, she never got very far before falling. Every time she went down, her hands would go to her head, and she would give and frustrated "Not Again!!" lol. I loved how even though she got frustrated with it, she had a blast, and never gave up!

I have had so much fun being the guest designer this month! Thank you to Noel, Virginia, and the rest of the team for welcoming me in with open arms...and thank you to all of you for all the sweet comments you left for me! :)

Try and Try Again

Hi everyone! Amanda here with you again to share another layout using the Our Summer kit!
Do you ever have those times, when you get this picture in your mind of how a layout or project should go, and you get so excited about your "vision" that you can't get past it? That totally happened to me on this layout. Would you believe that I actually tore apart and reworked this layout 3 times!
Usually I am a glue and go girl, but apparently not today! lol

Here is my layout, which never did quite live up to the picture I had in my mind, but that cute baby makes it all ok! ;)

I'll be back next week, with my final project for the month! Thanks for the warm welcome you all have given me, and all the sweet comments! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend, and take some time to create something you love! :)

Still crafty

Hi there and good morning!
I've got another layout to share using the "Our Summer" kit.
I'm telling ya...this kit is packed full!
I think I've made 2 double-page layouts, 4 single-page layouts, & 4 cards and I've still got a 4 sheets of patterned paper that I haven't even cut into as well as lots of leftover embellies!
Love that!
Anywhooooo, back to my layout...

This one is kind of a "therapeutic" layout if you will.
I've recently cut back on some of my "crafty" obligations (some by my choice; some not).
And that is probably good because I sure have been spending a lot of time on my bike!
:)
Regardless of what happens in the scrapbooking world and in other areas of my life, I will always love making stuff!
OK enough of my rambling!
:)
Here are a couple close-up shots of the page...

I *heart* those corkboard Thickers!

Some times I get on a kick with my heart punches.
This is one of those times.
:)

Thanks for looking and thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Squirrelly Girly

Hi everyone! Amanda here again with my second guest designer layout!

While I was going through photos for my book theme layout last week, I stumbled across this oldie of my daughter. Its an adorable picture, of course ;), but what stood out to me the most, and brought back a fun memory was the little squirrel on her shirt.

I'm not sure how or why it started, but from the time she was about 6 months old, my husband nicknamed her squirrelly. It actually started out as squirrel, but it changed over time, as nicknames tend to do, lol. When I saw that shirt, it instantly made me think of that, and I realized that I had never scrapped anything about it. This was something that he still does on occasion, and she still gets a kick out of it, so I really wanted to get it documented.

The photo was taken in the fall, but I still thought that the colors in the Our Summer kit worked perfectly with it. I just picked up on all the shades in her shirt, and layered them up adding in hints of the brown and kraft. I found that cute little squirrel border in the silhouette store, and it of course had to go on here!
Everything on this layout is from the Our Summer kit, except the mist and enamel dots. Two things that are go to's for me on most every layout! I am having so much fun with this kit, and can't wait to share the rest of my projects with you!
Hope you all have a great weekend, and take time to create something you love! Link me up in the comments, so I can be inspired by your recent creations! :)

A couple of cards

Good morning!
I've got a couple cards to share with you using some of my scraps from the "Our Summer" kit

I am kind of obsessed with that red & pink chevron paper from Fancy Pants.
I think I have ~1/4" scrap of it left...but I am not throwing it away!!
:)
I added some patterned paper behind the openings in the "Os" and "R" in the sentiment.
I thought it helped the chipboard letters stand out better against the chevron paper.

Then I got a little more colorful on this card and pulled out my trusty butterfly punch!
{i could not find it for a couple of weeks and i was pretty devastated}
:)

Aren't those candy dots from Queen and Co. so fun??

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

The Babysitters Club

Hey there and good morning!
In keeping with the theme this week, I too have made a layout that somehow incorporates children's books.
Well I used the "Our Summer" kit to make a page about some of my favorite books growing up.
Anybody else read the The Babysitters Club series??!

I loved these books!
I remember there being like at least 40 books in the series.
And this girl read them all!
They were so fun to read and quite educational if I do say so myself!
:)
Here are a few detail shots of the page...

a 2-pager!

Good morning!
I've got a 2-page layout to share with you today.
I find that I end up making a lot of 2-pagers because I take too many pictures & have a lot to say about them!
The page I've got to share with you today is about a trip I got to make out to Utah back in April.

{click on it to see larger}

I used the "Our Summer" kit to make this one.
I really didn't even use a lot of product on this page.
I used cardstock as the background, some patterned paper, chipboard letters for the title, and then a bit of twine.
Sometimes there is just not room for too much product or else it starts to look too busy!
Here are a couple close up shots of the page...

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!
Have a good one!

Don't LICK me, Ariana!

I try to get a picture (as most moms do) of their kids on their first day of school. Even my littlest, who is in MDO (where I also work!) wants her picture done.

My dear friend is her teacher this year, so my kids have grown up always knowing her... so they are very comfortable with her.

When I went to get the shot of Ariana with her, after we did the regular pose-y one, then my goofy little girl made things hilarious! I'm so glad I got the shot!

(For some reason there is a funny glare on the photos on this layout, but it doesn't look like that in real life.)

I had fun playing with the beautiful patterned papers in this kit. My main question that I started asking myself years ago with layout creations was, "What else can I add or take away?" In this instance, my addition was the strip of red & pink chevron paper behind the yellow chevron. I love the added "oomph" it gives to the bottom and how it grounds the page.

I've had a lot of fun playing with the "Our Summer" kit this month! I can't wait for Miss Nelson to arrive!

Fun stamping technique!

Hey! Good morning!
I am not much of a stamper so it is a bit shocking that I am actually sharing a "stamping technique" today.
Well pick your jaw up from the floor because I am doing it!
Disclaimer: I am pretty sure this is not some earth-shattering, never-done-before technique but I am sharing it nonetheless.
:)
I am going to show you how to make the flower on this card using the teardrop-shaped ink pad in the "Our Summer" kit.

Hint: If you don't have this kit or an ink pad like this, you can also use one of the cateye ink pads.
Then all you need is that ink pad, a sheet of white paper/cardstock, pen, & scissors.

And this is what you do...
1). Stamp the ink pad all over the white paper. These will be your "petals". I use 5 petals for my flower but I stamped a few extra so I could choose the ones I liked best.

2). Outline the petals with black pen. Don't worry about outlining them perfectly. Sometimes the messiness is more fun!

3). Now cut them out. Once again, don't worry about cutting them out precisely.

4). Arrange them like a flower and add a fun center!

Done! Now you have a fun flower to add to a project!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Julie's sketch + my Daily album!

Have you checked out Julie's sketch for this month? It's a really fun one! I wanted to adapt it to my Daily Life album, and because I had several photos to use, I decided to try to give a two pager a try. I know, living life on the edge, hmm? Hehe

I started off with Julie's design, but then kind of just went with it and adapted it for my photos. (P.S. I love having a Selphy printer... I took those pictures yesterday morning! It's wonderful being able to print things quickly at home!)

Because of the size of my pages, I don't want to overload them with product, but you also know that I love to layer! I love that I can still focus on some smaller areas to layer by adding in pages like this that are more like traditional scrapbook pages, mixed in amongst all the pocket pages.

That little wood veneer banner from the Our Summer kit was too cute. I just love it.

Make sure to keep an eye on the official NoelMignon.com Facebook page- "Miss Nelson," the September kit, has been making some sneak peek appearances there!

Running Mix

Hi!
Gretchen here and I've got another layout to share using the super fun "Our Summer" kit !
There are a couple of cute "musical" papers in the kit so I thought it was time to do another "running mix" layout!
Just for fun, here are a couple of ooooooold layouts I made about the music I was listening to at the time.

Hey, quit laughing!
They aren't too bad!!
:)

But I think it is time to do a more up-to-date layout!
:)
"Our Summer" to the rescue!

Apparently I still love strip journaling.
That hasn't changed in 6 years!
*****
These chipboard Thickers from American Crafts are rad!
The size is smaller than a lot of other Thickers and that comes in very handy sometimes.
And I love the "cork" look!

Here are a couple more close up pics of the page...
