A Trio of Cards using Hello Sunshine

Hi everyone! I finally finished up the Hello Sunshine kit with this trio of simple cards.  I've loved this kit but I am REALLY excited to start playing with the Miss Nelson kit ASAP!

For this card I punched different shapes of butterflies and adhered them to my card along with the Prima butterfly included in the kit.

This card is simplicity at it's best, a few punched vellum hearts, a little sewing, a quick sentiment and done!

I loved the arrow stamp in the kit so I repeated that pattern to get the base of my card, which I reinforced with some stitching and washi tape.

My last Hello Sunshine Layout

Hi everyone! Cassie here and I'm sharing my last Hello Sunshine layout (I still have a few cute cards I made with the kit I'll show next week too).  I have adored this kit, the bright colors have been great for inspiring me to scrap all of my summer photos- even if I am a year behind!

These photos are from my son's birthday last year (when he turned the big 2!), and he just had his third birthday yesterday! Yikes!  He's getting so big, and I am apparently a very slow scrapper lol.  My hubby and I always take off Charlie's birthday from work so we can plan a super special day for him.  Last year was the CT Science Museum and playing in Bushnell Park!

I used lots of Veronica's amazing Chic Tags for a cluster along the lefthand side and my Cricut to cut a fun bracket shape to house my photos.

I also love the idea of framing photo's with twine, so I put that technique to work here along the top and bottom of some of my photo's.

I hope you like my layout and enjoyed the Hello Sunshine kit as much as I did!  I am on the edge of my seat waiting for my Miss Nelson kit to arrive :)  Looks like it'll be beautiful!  Happy Thursday ladies!

Today I'm sharing another layout with bits from "hello sunshine" kit. I'm pretty sure this kit has a LOT of life left in it. I am amazed at the amount of product that comes in each kit.
I just love this picture of my son on his handmade wooden go-kart. My husband and my then, 7 year old found old wood and made this kart in a day! SO MUCH FUN!!!

An Artsy Take on Julie's Sketch

Hi everyone!  I loved Julie's sketch this month, how about you??  I really loved the clustered feel of the photos and the title so I shrunk the sketch down, kept embellishments super minimal (I am at the end of my Hello Sunshine kit after all!), and decided to accessorize using mists.  I used 4 different spray mists to splatter the background of my white cardstock, wrote some loopy journaling around the photos and then added vellum to the top and bottom instead of along the sides.  Totally a departure from my normal scrappy style, I usually use splatters as a small accent, not such a focal point on the page, but I really enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone and creating something unique (for me) from this kit :)

I loved the wood title block in the kit that said "Life is Good On the Lake" but I haven't been to a lake in about 20 years so I thought I'd cover that little portion up with a Elle's Studio pennant flag housing the second half of the title.  'Life is Good in da' Hood' is a silly title that I think is double funny compared with my son scowling like a badass in all the pictures :P

Well that's my 7th layout from the Hello Sunshine kit, and I still have one more layout PLUS 3 cards to share! Boy do these kits last and last :)  Have a great Thursday!

Test Driving at Toys R Us

Hi Friends!  First off, your layouts and participation in the Summer Camp Crop totally blew my mind!! You guys are amazing, your layouts were gorgeous and I was so impressed with the talent PLUS the amount of layouts you guys were able to pump out in only 1 week!  I gotta admit, I could not have done 14 layouts in a week- wowzers!

Here's my layout for this week using the Hello Sunshine kit, number 8 so far, I believe :)  This pics were taken last summer at Toys R Us on a rainy day at an attempt to keep my 2 year old son busy hehe

Pinspiration and Hello Sunshine

Hi everyone! I'm here today to share a Pinterest inspired layout I made using the adorable Hello Sunshine kit.  Here's the layout I came up with:

and here is my Pinterest inspiration!  I loved the 'homemade' look of these triangles, especially how they weren't perfectly symmetrical so I decided to handcut the triangles for my layout to lend that feel.

Here are some more close ups-- I've been loving those enamel dots!  I also used the orange pen to write my journaling, in person it's more noticeable than in the photos (look along the tops of each row of triangles), but I like that it's subtle and doesn't distract from the design.

Julie's Sketch Adapted for My Project Life album

Julie posted her monthly sketch for us last week on the blog, and it just so happened to coincide with me receiving the new "Our Summer" kit, so I decided to see if I could adapt the sketch to my 6x8 Project Life album. 

One of the first things I pulled out of the kit was the lovely charcoal colored paper. It reminded me of a chalkboard and I knew that bright colors would pop against it. 

I also grabbed a few things from the Hello Sunshine kit- I always love how Noel's kits seem to complement each other from month to month.

Color Coordinating with Hello Sunshine

I've been LOVING the Hello Sunshine kit- how about you??  The kit is so versatile with all the fun and bright colors but I keep gravitating towards using the teals and oranges provided in the kit.  Vibrant orange can be cooled down a bit by using the more subdued teal/aqua color and I just love the result.  Here I chose to use orange as my focal color with teal accents to complement the blues in my photos.  I based the sketch from a layout I saw on the Crate Paper blog last week by Sandy Ang- which immediately caught my eye! I loved the dramatic diamond, the circular photographs, and the twine around the border so I knew at once I wanted to make it my own :)  I don't know about you guys but I love the look of embroidery on layouts but just don't have the patience to intricately hand stitch. This is the perfect way to add thread to a layout, just poke the holes, thread through, and tape it down on the back-- easy peasy!

We are lucky enough to have a huge dinosaur theme park only 15 minutes away that has an AWESOME splashpad-- Charlie had so much fun playing there last summer and I literally had to tear him away kicking and screaming whenever we needed to leave!

There's a giant dinosaur in the entrance (and scattered throughout the park as well), and they dress the T Rex up for the season.  During the summer he/she sports shades, an American flag, and a giant bottle of coke- ha!

I love these enamel dots, they add some whimsy and fun to the title!

Hello Summer!!!

Hi friends!

Well, summer is in full force here. The temp is ridiculously HOT, it's been 103 or higher. ugh! I captured our first week of summer around here. I photoshopped 6 pictures on one 4x6" print. I used up a ton of scraps from the last two layouts using the  Hello Sunshine kit. I had a lot of fun with this layout! I used some old chipboard alphas and masked them in the corner of my layout for a cool watercolor effect.

Hello Sunshine layout and a tour of my scrapbooking room!

Hi everyone!!  I'm here today to share my latest Hello Sunshine kit PLUS a quick (but really not quick and actually quite wordy....) tour of my little scrapbook room.  Let's start with the good stuff shall we?

I really love the bright colors in this kit and thought that they might help liven up some super cute photo's from the zoo last year, since all the main colors in the photos were grays and tans.

Of course Charlie was 2 at the time so he didn't care so much about the animals (and there were about one million meltdowns that morning) but he LOVED the splash pad at the Roger Williams Zoo!

I really enjoyed using almost every aspect of the kit for this layout: the vellum, flair, arrow stickers, stamps, 7 patterned papers, washi tape, both sets of alphas, and those great blank October Afternoon stickers (I could layer those all day long!).  I hope you like it!

I'm also here today to share a tour of my scrapbooking area!  I'm lucky enough to have my own room so I have LOTS of storage-- none of it is super beautiful like some rooms that I see but I love it just the same and it works perfectly for my needs (ahem-- and it's cheaper --ahem)

For those of you that don't follow my blog, I create a new blog header every year.  I always keep it on my door to 'mark my territory' lol if ya know what I mean....

Here's the view into the room.  The colors were left over from the teenage girl that lived there before we moved in, but yellow/green/blue aren't horrible colors for a creative space so we haven't changed it quite yet.  Maybe one day!

    

 One of the topics on the NM facebook page recently was storing your kits.  I use this organizer I bought at Walmart which has been PERFECT.  Each slot fits one kit perfectly plus I can write on the tupperware (I just use some stamp cleaner to erase when it's time). I keep it under my desk so I have easy access.

I also have a LOT of storage for kit leftovers and smaller non-kit items (for example, if I buy just one collection instead of a whole kit).  The scrapbooking 'suitcases', for lack of a better word, each house either a collection I decided to buy, rub-ons, left over label stickers, or left over themed supplies- like Christmas or Halloween.

 I keep my washi tape in a mason jar (at least I did until the last 3 rolls and now I need another jar lol) and my stick pins in a cute pin cushion I found at Michaels.

 You'll also see 9 labeled boxes that I got super cheap at Lowe's.  Once I get close to finishing a Noel Mignon kit I break it up into pieces. Almost every leftover piece fits into one of these categories (plus I have separate storage for stamps and patterned paper): Journaling Cards, Stamps and Ink, Brads/Buttons, Kit Leftovers, Ribbon/Twine, 3D stickers/Chipboard, and Spray Mists.  I also have boxes for Adhesive and my Instax camera and film.

This is the left side of my room that you can't see in the first photo of my room.  I keep scraps of paper in the small tupperware drawers, labeled by color blocks.  The paper organizer is from Michaels and I organize my leftover paper by color.  The white tub holds leftover kits that don't fit in my main organizer, or the three drawers above the paper organizer, which (surprise) i also use for my kits!

This is the upper view of that area, showcasing my floating shelves, where I store my mini albums (I need more of these! love em!), my overcrowded embellishment shelf, and some wreaths I made recently.

Oh! and I love this idea of using a towel rack to hang punches! I bought 3 towel racks 6 months ago and have so far only convinced my husband to put up one (grrr). I'm anxiously awaiting being able to use more because the storage is so handy and I have so many more punches to stow away!

Those punches need a home!  Tell my hubby to help a girl out, won't ya?

Lastly, I have a little area set up for my 2 year old to color and play while I do fun stuff.  Does this work to get him out of my hair?  Yes!  For 30 seconds only, but those 30 seconds are kinda nice....until he starts ripping apart the layout I'm working on....and making race tracks on the carpet with Sharpies.....I mean, that never happened to me, but I hear it happens....
