Madison

Hi friends!

I know we mentioned several times that the Mary Ellen kit and the Jump and Jive kit would go really well together.... well, today, I have an example of that for ya!
I was so excited as I was pulling pieces of paper out of the Mary Ellen kit and saw this piece of Crate Paper "Emma's Shoppe" paper. The colors in it matched this photo PERFECTLY! Love it when that happens! It was the perfect accent for this page about one of the girls in my church that I helped get ready for prom.

The pieces of bling and borders from the Jump and Jive kit blended right in!

Thanks for stopping by today! Oh and don't forget our newest feature: the Deal of the Day! Great sales on some of your favorite supplies!

Two Pretty Girls

I think this might be a personal record for me as far as timeliness in getting photos scrapped. My little girls turned two this past Sunday and I've already scrapped one birthday photo! And how could I not? The gorgeous "Mary Ellen" kit had perfect birthday colors for my girls' party pictures! (I used Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe collection to create the majority of their party decor...more on this another time). The Mary Ellen kit also has bits and pieces of Emma Shoppe in it and Noel has plenty of Crate Paper in the shop as well! Here is my first birthday layout: "Two Pretty Girls are Turning 2". I used a piece of pink ledger paper by Pink Paislee for the background and misted it lightly with white mist.

I created the title by piecing together the Cosmo Cricket yellow chipboard letters, a journaling card by Crate Paper, Sassafras Lass alphabet stickers (from a previous kit) and The Girls' Paperie chipboard letters (from my stash).

I cut The Girls' Paperie rosettes in half and made a banner with them. The Maya Road buttons were inked with old paper distress ink and then threaded with Martha Stewart twine. I used silver Stickles on a sticker by The Girls' Paperie, although a similar effect could be achieved by die-cutting a number and placing it on a ledger background.

I accented the number 2 with two yellow star pins by Maya Road and then added my journaling.

Finally, I layered paper by October Afternoon, an Elle's Studio tag, The Girls' Paperie brad and a little machine stitching for texture.

More birthday fun to come soon!
See you next week!

Corrugated Cardboard Embellishments

Hi Everyone!! I wanted to share with you all today a super easy way to make your own corrugated cardboard embellishments! :D I figured this out a couple years ago on accident and am so happy I did! :D

We all get drinks from Starbucks at one point or another right? Well next time you are there grab a few extra of the cup sleeves cause that is what you need to make these! (The staff at Starbucks may look at you like you are slightly nutty but if they knew how awesome and easy it is to use these things in other ways then they would be grabbing them too!) Now all you have to do is just fill your sink like half way or something with water, just enough to give these guys room to 'swim'. :D Doesn't matter if it cold or hot water. Put these guys in, and let them sit. For a long time. After a couple hours you can move them around and if the covers on both sides come off then your cardboard is ready to be taken out! :D It will leave behind the corrugated part, which you then can let air dry on a towel. This is so easy to use because it is sturdy but soft and light and it is thin enough to fit in your punch slots! :D

I found this out by avoiding to do the dishes one day and everything just sat in a bath of water, when I came back I found this awesome corrugated cardboard sheet! :D I hope you guys have as much fun with this stuff as I do!

Here are a couple projects I used these on:

A Happy Holiday Garland!
And close ups:

And a couple simple accents on this page:

and a close up:

I would love to see any projects you have made using your own cardboard embellishments! Be sure to link up in the comments or on the message board! :D

Take care! ~Amy

When all else fails

In my opinion, all layouts should contain some sort of journaling. However, there are times when I draw a blank and have no clue what to journal about. This is the time I will grab a quote or a line from a favorite song and use it was my journaling like I did for this layout. I used a line from one of Pink's current songs. It was perfect for what I feel about my daughter.

(all item are from the Mary Ellen kit)

So the next time you are not sure what to journal about, grab a quote from a book, song, or movie and use it on your layout.

Happy Creating!

i love...

Can I just say that when I watched the video for this latest challenge I had the song in my head, like, all.day.long! hehe Is it bad that I'm old enough to remember that song way back when??? I probably shouldn't admit that...

Anyhoo, here's my take on this latest challenge about scrapping things we love. I decided to go with the 'no picture' layout again (just like on the domestic goddess challenge layout in this post).
I used the Jump & Jive kit for this layout once again...such a fabulous kit :) Yes, my cardstock is bent. I dropped it. I'm pregnant...and clumsy. Enough said...

Now go scrap about the things you love!

Mother's Day is Sunday!

Don't forget to put a card in the mail this week!
I made one to send using the Mary Ellen kit...

Patterned paper: Crate Paper, The Girl's Paperie, Sassafras; "lovely lady" sticker: My Mind's Eye; Star pin: Maya Road
Everything (except the string) is from the Mary Ellen kit!

And I am putting it in the mail today!
(this one is going to my grandmother)
:)
Happy Monday!!

Nightly...

I wanted to do a layout about Madison's nightly conversations...each night she curls up and talks on the phone with her boyfriend... it's nice that in the day of texting they still take the time to actually talk on the phone... :)

I used all Jump and Jive kit for this:
with all the cool tags and embellishments in the Noel kits I have a hard time not wanting to use them all on one layout... lol... so instead I just do mini little collages... I love how they all group together and help to balance out the photos on the right. Here's a close up of the collage...

Thanks for stopping by! :)
