My creative corner

This week, the design team is sharing their creative spaces with you guys. Whether it is a spot on the dining room table, a corner in the playroom, or a dedicated craft space, we all have that comfy place that we go to create. And it's always fun to get inspiration from others on how to get in that creative zone!

My crafty area is a corner of our play room. It's just the right amount of space for me, and for our family. I love being able to spend time with my kiddos while I try to sneak in a little crafty time here and there. The big windows I'm next to allow me to watch them if they are playing in the backyard, and also let in lovely light to create by! 

I have lots of artwork displayed in our playroom, made by friends and family. It makes me feel connected to other creative types! 

As you can see, I pretty much use every little spot I can to store things. The cart from Ikea is a workhouse, holding all my favorite mists, tools, stamps, and other frequently used odds and ends. The small Thirty-One caddy on the floor next to it holds my most recent NoelMignon kits, handy for being able to rifle through. 

My desk quickly becomes cluttered, and I'm constantly trying to keep it tidy! I try to only keep my true essentials on the desk.... but somehow a few other things always sneak on there. ;) 

In the picture above and the one below, you can see that I love to utilize old napkin holders for storage and display. The one above (with the wrought iron curlies) is great for tucking in tiny notebooks and notes, and the one below is currently serving as a standing for my metal picture display.

This baker's rack has been with me for 14 years. It's been used for all sorts of things, but as a piece of craft furniture it works awesome! The shelves are nice and deep and sturdy for all my drawers and containers that hold my supplies. 

Inside the drawers, I keep embellishments - once I've gotten a NM kit whittled down, this is where the extra embellishments go. 

It's not the prettiest space in the world, but it sure does work for me! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Summer Fun This Way!!

Hello everyone!!  Hope you had a wonderful, relaxing 4th of July!!  Today I'm excited to share my first layout using the Hello Sunshine kit :)  The kit is packed with fun, bright colors & LOTS of great embellishments :)  The combination was perfect for this layout of my son & his friends at the beach last summer . . .



To create this fun, "weathered" border effect, I glued 4 strips of patterned paper around the edges and sewed them down to the background.  Then, I lifted the inner edge up and tore every few inches or so.  A little bending here & there & ta da - fun & easy border!!!



With so many awesome tags in this kit, I had fun layering them on each of the pics.  Although, my favorite embellishment was that gorgeous wood chalkboard quote - love it!!!

Happy 4th of July!!

Hi everyone!  Cassie here- and I'm so excited to share my first Noel Mignon layout as part of the Design Team :D  Since today is July 4th I thought it would be fitting to make a 4th of July layout with the amazing Hello Sunshine kit!  I love, love, LOVE the bright and colorful papers and embellishments in this kit- a perfect summer kit.

Since I don't love using red in my scrapbooking layouts I thought I would create my own color scheme to do a non-traditional 4th of July layout.  I chose to use aqua, yellow, gray, brown, and orange.  These colors make a perfect summer layout without being overly '4th of July', which is just what I was going for.  I really loved the Jillibean Soup polaroids included in the kit and decided to use them to house my photo's but also made little mini collages in the layout.  If you look closely you can see the plethora of kit items layered and housed in each little collage :)

I hope you like my first layout and more importantly I hope you have an awesome 4th of July!!!  Here in CT I'm hoping for just one more day without rain for a family cookout on the beach :)

I've got another layout to share with you using the Beach Blvd kit. 

The other 2 layouts I have done with this kit have been pretty girly. 

So I decided to change it up a bit and make something a bit more masculine. 

AND I don't know if my brother would appreciate me putting flowers & hearts all over a layout with his picture on it!

Project Life- journaling June

I've been having fun- legitimate, no pressure, enjoying the simplicity- fun! 

Summertime was, for me, the perfect time to start Project Life. 

Here's some more of what I've been working on (using the new NoelMignon Project Life kit!). 

I had a little bit more to journal with this week, but also had a lot of pictures, so I was trying to figure out where to fit in my journaling. I ended up using the 2x8 slot to journal some on my computer. I don't usually use my computer to journal, but I can see that I'll be using it more with PL just because I can fit more words in this way! 

Don't be afraid to draw and write on your photos! 

I didn't really have anything else I needed to add to this page, so I just did a strip of embellishments on the backside of the journaling. I love the happiness it adds to this page.

I'm so excited to be here! I have been a long time fan of Noel's kits. Her kits are beautiful and packed FULL of goodness. You really only need her kit each month because it's like having 4 in one!
When she asked me to join her team, I squealed! Her and I have known each other since I first started a small etsy shop. It's been a long time!

I just love all the orange and aqua in this month's gorgeous kit!
