Happy Thursday!!!

G'morning everyone!

It's almost Friday....YAY!!!

Did everyone order their Student Council Kit yet?  I hope you did because it's FABULOUS!!!

I used this kit to create the lo for today.  I love, love, love this kit.  I adore anything that is school supply/office supply related and this kit is absolutely perfect for this.

I did a simple little layout using a picture of Bella with her teacher from last year and the little goodie we gave her on the last day of school.

I cut out the "W" using the  Jenni Bowlin Studios-Stencil Lettering Guide and matted it to help make it pop.
I also used one of Bella's American Girl punches (can you believe they make punches?) to create the star border at the bottom and then to use the punched out pieces for various lil groups of confetti on the page.

So what have y'all been creating with your new, fabulous kit??

Student Council Kit!!!!

Photobucket

Okay, I couldn't wait for October, I dove into that Student Council kit as soon as I got it :)  Such a fun mix of bright, cheery papers & then the ledger paper - love, love, love it!!!  I recently snapped a pic of my little man reading on the way home (no worries - I was in my driveway when I snapped it) & wanted to document our ride home from school on Tuesdays.  See Tuesday is library day at school, and  this guy LOVES him some books :)

Photobucket

I was a bit nervous on how I'd use that Jenni Bowlin stencil paper, but once I tried out that bright red Studio Calico Yearbook paper behind it, my crafty light bulb went off :)  You can also see the Heidi Swapp Color Shine included in the kit splattered about here & there.  The photo doesn't do it justice, the the shine/sparkle on this stuff is amazing!!!

Photobucket

There are so many awesome tags and stickers in this kit, especially the Lawn Fawn "reading is dreaming with your eyes open" one - just perfect for the theme of this layout!!!

Photobucket

Alright, if you have the Student Council kit in your hands already get busy - it's AWESOME!!  If not, there are still a few left HERE :)  Happy Wednesday!!

**EDITED TO ADD - The Student Council kit is now sold out, sorry guys!!**

Flying the coop!

Hi everyone! I'm back with one more vintage layout using the Evening Stroll kit. I told you I was going to using lots of vintage photos with this kit...the colors and embellishments are just perfect for it! I have a couple photos of my mom when she was a little girl that would work great with the included hexagon stencil as a chicken wire.

Here is what I put together...

And a few close-ups...

I love the mists that are included in the kit, but they can be intimidating to use, even for an experienced mister. The outcome is always a little unpredictable. I want to share a few tips that can help you get the results you want and make it a little less scary to get them out and use them. Ready? Let's go...

Rule #1...let go of your expectations and go with the flow (or the mist because they have a mind of their own), lol!

Rule #2, place your layout inside a box when misting. I keep a box slightly larger the size of my layouts by my desk and place my paper inside of the box when I want to mist.

Rule #3, wipe the outside of the nozzle before misting. Sometimes they become clogged which can cause a problem when you mist. I keep baby wipes in my craft room. They are very handy for this.

Rule #4, test your mist on a scrap piece of paper first. Always! I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from disaster.

Rule #5, mist away and embrace imperfection.

Here are a couple tips to help you get the look you are going for on your layout.

Tip #1, it is best to spray lightly, let dry then add additional layers of mist for more intensity. This will also help keep your paper from getting over saturated and warping so badly. However, some paper warping is to be expected when misting.

Tip #2 hold you mist high above your paper when misting for a softer effect. You can always add more.

Tip #3, for the splattered effect, take the cap off the bottle, hold it over your paper and tap the cap until you get mist drops on you your paper. Again, embrace imperfection, you can never anticipate exactly where those mist drops will land.

Tip #4, use your mists to color the wood veneers that we have in the kits. Give it a try on the birds from the Evening Stroll kit or on the super fun speech bubbles that are in Student Council kit.

Tip #5, lay your photos and embellishments on your paper, without permanently adhering them to get an idea of the empty spaces where you want to mist. Make a note of the general area, remove all items and spray your mist. Let it dry and then proceed with attaching your items to the layout.

I hope I have provided some tips that can help you overcome any misting fears you have. If you have any questions, post them in the comments and I'll be sure to answer them!

Thanks for coming by!

Hi friends, Happy Monday! I hope you've had a great weekeend!

assignments yet - you have until tomorrow! yeah! Bonus Points!
No...I mean, Extra Credit!
(score for you that haven't started...the teachers wouldn't even know! hahaha!!)

Today I'm just sharing my layout I did for my class Friday morning:
Math (Pre-Algebra) -

I added the Boardwalk kit along with the Evening Stroll kit together to create
this page. I found this fabulous "bingo" card at a local antique store. I wish I'd bought more now! I only got 2 of them. What's so unique about it - it's chipboard! Added depth, a little 3D action going on my page.

To see how I created this, what my inpsiration was & the class in general -
check out my Pre Algebra class (and don't forget - your homework is DUE by tomorrow!)

here's a couple of detail shots:

Have a GREAT week,

Brightening up the Bedroom with a NoelMignon kit!

How much do you love NoelMignon kits? Enough to decorate your home with them? LOL I do!

I love a bright, whimsical, happy look in my home, and my bedroom needed a few more touches of that.

The piece you see in the picture below was just a boring ol' nightstand, but with a little yellow and white Valspar spraypaint and primer, I was able to transform it quickly. One final touch of some My Mind's Eye paper and some Mod Podge, and it turned a regular piece of furniture to a custom boutique piece!

I added wiped on bits of espresso brown acrylic paint to act as a stain on the paint... I love that aged look.

If you've ever seen one of my kit review videos, you'll see the horrible eyesore in the background... an old brown bookcase with a clumsily tacked up curtain on it to hide the stuff set on it.

I got the organizing bug a week ago and headed to Target to get a few bins and baskets and frames.

The two teal frames were a set for $3 (college product clearance!) and I customized them with papers from the Evening Stroll kit- a perfect match!

This is SUCH an easy way to give a "big mat" look to a frame. Plus, it makes it way easy to change pictures out!

I added some letter stickers from the Evening Stroll kit and a small cut out heart on top of this picture to make it even more special. :)

My hubs and I always have a big mess of library books, so these baskets with Silhouette labels worked out perfectly to contain them, and look cute to boot!

I hope this gives you some inspiration for a few easy ways to make some seasonal or permanent changes to your home! You could adapt these ideas to Christmastime decor, or to a child's bedroom... the ideas are endless. :)

Happy Thursday!

Hey Everyone!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week :)

I dunno about y'all, but in a world of emails, blogging, tweeting, etc., I still love to send and receive regular ol' snail mail.

Around the holidays and certain times of the year, I try and send some of my most favorite people a card.

I decided to use the ever fabulous Hudson Valley Kit (can you believe after all the times I've posted about this kit, that there is still some leftover??  That's why Noel's kits are the best.  JAM PACKED full of goodies!).

When I make cards, I like to keep em simple.  So I just used my Silhouette to cut out a doily type of shape using one of the kits solid pieces of Cardstock, punched some leaves out of the various different pieces of patterned paper, made a banner with a solid piece of Cardstock, my typewriter, a toothpick, and some twine and voila!

A set of very simple but sweet cards to send to some of my favorite people.
