A Closer Look

This past week the Noel Mignon Design Team had the opportunity to play along with the sketch at Creative Scrappers. I loved the sprinkling of design elements on the sketch and decided to play with that a bit more on my page using the Primrose Lane Kit.  Here is a closer look!

My page is slightly different than the one I submitted to Creative Scrappers . . . I decided to add a bit of spray mist after staring at it a few days. Do you ever do that?! Stare at a page and still feel like it needs "something". This time around, I added the spray and felt happy with it. :)

I used the stamps from the kit to create some page accents. I stamped the clothespin with black ink, cut it out and used it to "clip" my journaling block to the envelope. I also used the circular heart stamp. I stamped it in three different inks on the newsprint patterned paper from the kit. I outlined the heart with a black journaling pen, cut out the open space of the heart and then mounted them to my page using foam adhesive. To call a little more attention to them, I used my paper piercer to "outline" the stamped shapes again by adding a pierced circle around each of them. Finally, I added a sprinkling of sequins from my stash and a gold Making Memories bird cut from an older Noel Mignon kit.

Thanks for stopping in today! See you again soon!

My take on the Creative Scrappers Sketch

The gang at Creative Scrappers has teamed up with us with a great sketch:

I decided to use the new Jack & Jill kit for my take on it.

I loved this gorgeous background paper by My Mind's Eye, and it already had elements on it that went along with the sketch design. I didn't want to overload my layout with too many embellishments; I was afraid it would get TOO busy since I was using such a bold & bright color scheme. I added in paint splatters, small brads, and rhinestones from the kit to add in the small elements that the sketch called for.

I love seeing how everyone interprets the same design differently and can't wait to see all of y'all's take on it! Make sure to go join in on the fun by May 1st and you can be entered to win a $20 gift card to the NM shop

Technique Thursday with Kimberly

Hey everyone!
Happy Thursday to you all!
I hope you've had a great week this week!
I'm here to share one of my Primrose Lane layouts I created and share a fun little technique!
With Chevron's and banners being a hip, and fun design to add to our creations, I decided to create a fun background with a banner/chevron style with different patterned papers.

On the edge along the bottom, I simply bent the papers slightly to create a drop shadow effect with the design. I love how this give a dimensional look.

A simple way to alter the doilies, is to cut the inside out and use the center. This give a whole new look to them, with little effort at all.

You can also pinch the center of the snowflake to give a pleated effect too. I love how this looks too.

A few extra products I used to create this layout:

Have fun creating! Enjoy the process...and THANK YOU for stopping by!
I hope this helped to get you all inspired to create something beautiful for your family too!
xx

Creative Scrappers & NoelMignon Team Up!

We teamed up with Creative Scrappers this month and got to use one of their fabulous sketches as inspiration! They have such great sketches and our design team had so much fun working with them.

This is the sketch we got to use:

Now head on over to their blog for a look at our interpretations of it AND for a chance to win yourself a $20 gift card to the NoelMignon shop! :)

Thanks Kristine & the team at Creative Scrappers! We had a blast working with you!

Halloween in April??

Yep!
And with the fabulous Primrose Lane kit too!
Crazy, huh??!
OK so last Halloween my husband and I found this super cute hot dog costume for dogs at Target.
It was too fun to pass up!
Well our dog does not like to have anything on her (like she even hates her collar!), so she basically kept the costume on just long enough for me to snap these pictures.
I printed these pictures out a while ago thinking that I would find some fun Halloween paper to scrap them with.
But these pictures don't really go well with traditional Halloween color schemes so I never got around to scrapping them.
Until now!

Reds and yellows in the Primrose Lane kit jumped out at me and I thought I finally had something to work with!
Now I did grab some extra red cardstock and the black stickers accents and yellow journaling blocks are from my Bella Blvd stash.
(I did want to make it a little bit "Halloween-y")
The red and yellow patterned papers, the circle patterned paper, Thickers, and Jenni Bowlin round alpha stickers are all from the Primrose Lane kit.
Yep! Halloween in April!

Have a great day!

Meeting Rapunzel

Several weeks ago, my family and I snuck away to Disneyland for Spring vacation. Our last day at Disneyland we were caught in a downpour and ran into a restaurant to take cover. My kids were delighted to find out that their favorite princess, Rapunzel, and Eugene were right next door!

The pictures of my kids meeting one of their favorite movie characters felt so dark that I knew I would need to brighten them up with pastel or bright colored papers. The Primrose Lane kit fit the bill perfectly!

I used my Cricut Expression machine and the cardstocks from the kit to create the hanging lanterns along the top of the page. I used my Cuttlebug machine to emboss one of the layers for more dimension.  I added some Mister Huey's Spray Ink (from the January Cabin Fever Kit) to represent all the rain we experienced that day!

I used the pink baker's twine from the kit to hang each lantern, tucking the end of the string behind the page and securing with a piece of masking tape.

The blue letters in my title are from my stash. I wanted the word "Rapunzel" to have more of a regal feeling, so I used a font from one of my Cricut cartridges and used three layers of cardstock.

If you have a little princess in your home, the Primrose Lane Kit has the perfect colors to scrap her special moments.

Have a great day!

A little Jack & Jill sneaky peek!

I got my Jack & Jill kit in the mail yesterday so I whipped up a quick layout to share with you guys!

If you are not a subber, this will go up for sale on the 25th... but there are only a handful of kits, so you'll need to be quick about it! Noel will be opening up new subscriptions soon, so make sure you're on the wait list!

I added the big tulle bow from my stash, but the rest of this is from the kit!

How much do I love those thickers?! A LOT!

There are a lot of fun "bits and bobs" in this kit- you can see some in this little snippet of my layout... the kraft flags, the butterflies, the washi tape, the label stickers, and the yellow ink!

I even stamped! That little yellow birdie is a stamp in the kit. SOOOO cute!

Birthday cards!

OK I am in need of a couple new birthday cards to send to friends here in the near future.
So of course I went to straight to my Primrose Lane kit!
The 12x12 sheet of Crate Paper stickers in the kit is perfect for sentiments for birthday cards!

And viola!
Here are a couple of fun birthday cards!

They aren't too "theme-y" or "cute-sy" so these will make for great "grown up" birthday greetings!

So there you have it!
A couple of easy, fun birthday cards!
Have a great day!
And thanks for stopping by the blog today!

5 things challenge

Hey there! Lisa here today! I totally love the Primrose Lane kit. The soft colors melt my heart! And the awesome combination of all the textures. LOVE!

Playing with the kit gave me the idea to challenge you all with this...use the following 5 things on one layout...1. Stamps 2. Rub-ons 3. Metal  4. Wood  5. Bling/Pearls

In this closeup you can see where i used stamps, wood, metal and rub-ons. I loved this challenge because it forced me to keep layering and I ended up loving this layout SO much.

I love the girly paper here...I wasn't even sure I'd use it when I got the kit but I'm so glad I had it. It was perfect for this layout!!

And the cute paper clips...LOVE!!!

I hope you find this challenge as much fun as I did!!

Friendship

Hello, Noel Mignon lovers! I have another page to share with you today using the Primrose Lane Kit. This kit is so beautiful for Spring and inspired me to pull out some snapshots of my daughter and her friend from last year.

We have a small courtyard in front of our house where we have set up a small metal table and chairs. My youngest daughter has dubbed this the "Friendship Table" because we like to sit out there in the sunshine and chat with each other. She especially enjoys eating lunch out there with her friends when she is having a playdate. I used the number two sticker to symbolize these two cute girls.

I love the coral color of the pearl butterfly from the kit and used it to frame my title.  You gotta love the way those yellow letters just POP off the page!

It's been a long time since I have written my journaling in a color besides black. This time I decided to try using the blue journaling pen included in the kit and I loved the result! The story is there, but it almost fades into the design, allowing the photos to really shine on their own.

I've been playing with stamps on my pages lately, and I couldn't wait to try out the phrase stamp included in the Primrose Lane kit. I stamped the word "cute" on the journal tag, and then used it again to create a stamped border. I also used the Jenni Bowlin Ticket Please Border Punch on this page. I can tell this punch is going to be used again and again . . . such a great classic shape for all types of pages.

I hope you will get outside soon and eat your lunch in the spring sunshine. It's such a small thing to lift your spirits in the mundane routine of life. Be sure to snap a few photos and use them to record your feelings about Spring.

See you again soon!

More Primrose Lane Layouts!

I told y'all yesterday that I'd been on a roll with the Primrose Lane kit

It has a great sheet of Crate Paper alphas and stickers that I happen to notice had several party  & birthday themed stickers... perfect for a couple of birthday layouts I needed to do!

The first one is about my daughter's birthday that was just a week ago... I had a lot of photos I wanted to include. It's so hard to edit down and figure out what best represents the event! Thank goodness for wallet sized photos!

It was hard to not make this layout look too busy, what with all the photos and the small scale collage details already on the background paper, however, by keeping the color scheme soft, I think I managed to pull off a good balance.

I loved the touch of layering the border stickers from the kit underneath one of the photos. I also added detail by cutting out some of the side banners from one of the journaling spots and then tucking my photo behind them.

The second layout was one of my third child's birthday, from back in December! I didn't want it to look Christmassy, so I'd been waiting 'til all the fun, girly products came out this spring. This kit was perfect for it! I played around with the layout design for a bit, pushing around items, until I found this simple design. The large piece of design cut from the chevron paper grounds the entire design, and the backwards "L" shape on the right side keeps your eye moving back to the pictures.

Seven

I got a big creative boost over Easter weekend and whipped out a bunch of layouts from the Primrose Lane kit. Noel's kits are so great to just grab on their own because there's SO much inside... I hardly EVER add anything else to my layouts other than what's in the kits, other than perhaps a different alpha here and there or some mist. It's so convenient and inspiring!

My oldest turned seven last week and we commemorated it with some "style" shots. Um, can we say that she LOVED it? Ha! She is such a girly girl!

I wanted to keep the focus on the photos in this layout, but at the same time, add some whimsical elements to enhance the feeling of the whole layout.

The already collage-designed MME paper started it off great for me, and made it easy to layer a few more accents seamlessly into the design. The envelope holds a special note.

I added some hexagon MME paper that coordinated, but cut it out randomly. I love the bit that is the same notebook paper design; I love layers like that.

Are you a kit subscriber yet? A little birdie told me that Noel will be opening up new subscriptions soon, so make sure to get your name on the waiting list now
