Summer Reading with the Study Guide Classic Kit

Hello everyone!  I am always amazed at how fast little ones learn to read.  At the end of kindergarten last year my little guy was reading.  I encouraged him through the summer to practice and did so by only allowing him the use of his kindle after doing his to do list for the day, which including reading.  It worked pretty well except he only wanted to read three books. 

At least he learned how to read those three books really well, right?  ;)


I started with #23 Pink Paislee pattern paper.  I love that it includes all the colors from the kit.  I then cut a piece of white cardstock and laid that on top.  I decided to choose a center weighted design and cut two more pieces of cardstock to fit the space above my picture.  Both patterns really help support my reading theme for the page.

Once in place I started on the title placing my chipboard stickers right above my picture and then chose to add the small Pink Paislee stickers to the chipboard flag.




I cut the "R is for Reading" from pattern paper and paired it with two shipping tags from my stash.
I layered these together and added a few stickers on top.  

The white space around my title seemed very empty and I filled it with a few of the star chipboard stickers from the Echo Park sticker sheet and a few of the Prima Sugardots.

I thought I was just about finished and felt like I needed a darker base.  I then took my trimmer and trimmed off both sides of my layout and backed the whole thing on a piece of Kraft cardstock.

This months kit works great for school themes, but also if you love reading, learning, or even want to record a few of those long ago childhood memories.

{Back to School} with the "Study Guide" Kits

Hello Friends!  It's Meridy here with you today, and I have a layout I would like to share that I created with the "Study Guide" Daily Diary kit and paper add on.  As soon as I saw this kit, I KNEW that it would work with the Back to School 2017 photos I had taken this year.  The colors were amazing together.  In this particular layout, you cannot see the whole "set" of the photo shoot, but I plan on using more of the photos throughout the month.

I wanted this photo to be the star of the layout, so I decided to make a single photo layout.  I started with this great star patterned paper and built up a couple of layers of cardstock to mat my photo.  Next I added one of the tags from the kit and used that for a journaling block.  These multicolored Thickers are just the best part of this kit in my opinion, so of course I had to used them for my title.

I still felt like my layout needed a little something else, so I decided to do some machine stitching.  First I stitched across each row of stars with a red zig zag stitch.  Then, I stitched around each photo mat with a very dark aqua green thread.  Then I felt like the layout was complete.

All in all, this was a fairly simple layout to execute.  Since the background paper was so busy, it really didn't call for too many more embellishments.  I love the way it turned out.  Thank you for stopping by today!  The rest of the design team will be back each day this week with more inspiration to share.

Love Our Library: Study Guide Daily Diary Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with a book-ish layout about our local library.  I'm very vocal about how much I love our library and libraries in general.  I'm even going to graduate school to become a librarian.  Seeing all of the book themed supplies in this month's Daily Diary kit, I knew I'd be scrapping about it.

That Fancy Pants star patterned paper...it's beautiful!  I loved being able to highlight it by keeping all of the layers centered so it can shine.  I used two strips from the awesome book themed papers by Jillibean soup that have both a shelf of books and library cards.  Those were my favorite!

Up in the left-hand corner, I cut out a banner from a Pink Paislee cutapart sheet and added a little scrap of books from the strip I used down below.  

I used a couple of the banner stickers from Echo Park to add some interest to the top of the picture.  I took off the pearl from the center of the layered flower and added a geotag sticker.  I also cut a 6x6 paper from Fancy Pants in half and used it as a layering piece.

The beautiful Thickers are just perfection!  I added some October Afternoon Mini Market from my stash to help out my title.  My journaling went onto a Project Life card.

Good morning!

I have another project to share with y'all today using the super cute, brand new Study Guide Classic Kit. This kit is such a fun mix of back to school and fall and a great combination of hues for layouts about boys OR girls. I love it.

Today I am sharing a layout about my third daughter. Lately she doesn't much like to have her picture taken. She's almost 10 and is very self conscious as a lot of kids are. This particular day, though, as she was excitedly waiting for time to go to her dance class, she let me take her picture, even asked for me to do it. Of course I took full advantage of the opportunity ♥

For this page I used a few strips of the Pink Paislee washi tape. I love that it is cut to 12" so that it's perfect for adding across a page like I did here. 

That cute paper with the words on it was begging me to cut it out for this page. I found some sayings that went well with what I wanted to say to my girl ♥ I loved that cute cloud clip, too. I used a few of the Fancy Pants clips but took the clip off of the back of the "dream big" and bird ones and just  used them as extra embellishments on my page. 

I love this star paper and can't help but cut them out to use as embellishments.

first grade

My youngest daughter started first grade this year! It's getting harder and harder to watch my kids grow up since there's no more 'babies' after her, she's the last one! So I'm cherishing all of these last 'firsts' and the new Study Guide Daily Diary kit. I paired it with the Study Guide papers which can be found in the classic kit or purchased separately.

I absolutely adore that alpha ribbon & all of the Jillibean Soup stickers in the kit! This month's kit is packed with lots of embellishments for traditional and pocket pages. And those thickers...so cute!!!

Kindergarten with the Study Guide Classic Kit

It's that time of year when all the students are headed back to school.  This months kit is such a great mix of school themed and non school themed products.  I decided to document a few things about my littlest from last year when he was starting school as a kindergartener.

I started with the yellow cardstock and cut about an inch off two sides and used the black script pattern paper underneath.  I then started cutting strips of pattern paper to go on top.  I ended up three different patterns and lined up on top of the cardstock.

I cut a strip of pattern paper for the top of the block and placed ribbon underneath.  I then decided to use the Heidi Swapp stamp on to of one of the cardstock stickers and placed that on the upper left corner.

I then used the thickers to spell out my title and added the pictures and journaling block underneath.  I cut one of the library cards from pattern paper and added his teacher, school, and school year with the American Crafts marker before tucking it behind the picture.  

The final touches were some enamel dots, flair, and cork stickers.

{First Day of Jr. High} with the "Study Guide" Kit

Hello friends, it's Meridy here today with my first layout using the "Study Guide" Daily Diary Kit and paper add-on.  In 1 1/2 weeks my kids will already be done with their first quarter of this school year!  We started school in mid-July, so I already have my "back to school" photos from this year printed.  They worked great with this month's kit, and I decided to make a double page layout...

I started by choosing some pictures of my daughter and some of my favorite Daily Diary cards from the kit, and built my layout around those.  I choose papers that pulled in colors from both the photos and the cards.  

After I got the base of the layout in place, I decided to add some "notebook" punched navy strips of paper and washi from the kit across the bottom of the layout to ground it.

I started pulling embellishments that worked with the daily diary cards, and that's when I KNEW I would use the great multicolored Thickers on the layout for my title.  

I stamped some red triangles near the title and used the mini alpha stickers that came in last month's kit to spell "first day of" on my title.  I added a cute paper clip tag and a die cut to finish off the title area.

Next, I embellished the other card, added the date, added a journaling card, and one of the flowers from the kit.

I thought the layout still needed something to draw your eye towards the top, so that's when I pulled out my star punch and grabbed scraps in various colors.  I decided to line the stars up right across the top of the pink cardstock background layer.  But there was still something missing, so that's when I pulled out the sewing machine and machine stitched right across the row of stars.  I also sewed around the entire layout with a subtle light mint green thread.  It added just a little bit of texture, without overwhelming the layout.
