Swans: Vintage Spring Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with my first layout using the April Vintage Spring classic kit.  The sticker with the swans on it called my name and I knew the exact picture I wanted to use.

The GORGEOUS Maggie Holmes Flourish paper jumped out at me since it is teal and black.  Both of those colors are in my photo so it was perfect.  I didn't want to cover much of it up, so I kept the embellishing right around the photo with a little in the upper left corner.

I loved the swan banner in the Flourish embellishment pack and it's perfect since I have two little Swanns...  I used the Maggie Holmes rose gold washi to help ground my cluster along with stickers and enamel dots.

The washi is echoed here as a shelf for my photo.  I used a tag, an Amy Tangerine bow and a flair all from the kit to help around my photo.  The large doily is from my stash.

For my title, I used the Pretty Little Studio alphas above a Maggie Holmes sticker.  Enamel dots helped to finish it off!

Good Characters: Study Guide Daily Diary Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with my first layout using the September Daily Diary kit, Study Guide.  Obviously, I wanted to start off with a school layout.  Last school year, both of my girls ended up getting the "Character of the Month" awards for their classes.  They came home with a medal, a water bottle and had their names on the announcements and their pictures up in the hallways.  They were ecstatic!

I love the ledger paper by Echo Park and it's the perfect background to hold the other bolder papers.  The orange paper is also by Echo Park and the pushpin paper is Jillibean Soup and the two 6x6 papers are from Fancy Pants.

The Thickers from Shimelle's new line are so cute!  I love how they are solid on the top and dotted on the bottom.  I was careful to be sure to space out the colors, with the exception of the year, I love how those are the same color. I used some stickers from Jillibean Soup and used my distress ink from Tim Holtz in Hickory Smoke (not included in the kit) to ink the edges of all of the papers.

The school themed ribbon was a perfect shelf for my photos.  I cut down one of the tags from the kit to do my journaling and used one of the flair badges to cover up the awkward space where the tag and ribbons overlapped.  My notebook paper edge punch was perfect for adding a little extra school aspect to the layout.

I love how the bulk of the layout is concentrated here.  This kit was the perfect way to document this memory!

Workspace Hustle: August "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with this week's challenge: share your workspace!  I thought this would be a great opportunity to also make a layout about my creative process.

I love the Heidi Swapp watercolor paper and wanted it to be featured.  The Maggie Holmes arrow paper is so beautiful as well and I used a big piece to highlight it.  

The title is from a Thickers pack from my stash - it was the perfect title for this subject.  I love how the epoxy ribbon snuggles right in with the title.  I used the last piece of doily from the kit and the other black and white ribbon and I love they way that they look layered together.  

The house paperclip from the kit was perfect for this layout since my workspace is in my home.  I used the Freckled Fawn vellum butterfly stickers to help bring attention to the watercolor paper without being too overwhelming.

I fussy-cut some of the flowers from the Maggie Holmes paper to use on either side of the photo.  The flair badge from the kit was a nice little detail on top of the floral piece.  And the black rub-on from my stash was a great addition and helped bring out some of the black in the layout.

And now....here are some photos of my workspace!  I have a room in my house that is dedicated to my scrapbooking and it is my safe space.

 

I have two Ikea shelves that house my albums and some of my supplies.  And a big tower of Iris containers hold supplies for projects that I'm working on or themed supplies like holiday or military things.  

On this shelf, I keep my patterned paper and cardstock along with scraps and some random bins full of things like Thickers and stickers.  

And my desk.  It's an Ikea desk with a row of drawers.  I love my space and I'm happy to share it with you.  We'd love to see your spaces in the Facebook group!

"Oh, they're teenagers." - Little Bird Classic Kit

Hello all!  Nicole here this week to share a layout that I put together to remember a conversation my youngest had with my husband.  I overheard them talking and after having a good laugh I quickly pulled out my phone and typed it up in a memo.  I love doing this and have a place in my memo lists for each family member.

I feel like this layout needs a little explanation and why I might find this funny.  We have a unique situation with our kids because of their age difference, they are nine years apart in age.  The younger just started Kindergarten and the older is in 9th grade.  The little guy gets to hear us blame a lot of the older ones mumbling, grumbling cave man noises (please tell me this is normal!) and other random weird behavior  that he and his friends do on them being "teenagers".  The little guy has now decided that he himself doesn't want to become a teenager and basically thinks being a teenager is something he should avoid at all costs.  The hubs and I did explain that no matter how hard he tried that one day he also would be a teenager. ;)

Part of the journaling:

Overheard as we were getting ready to go to the summer concert in the park
T:  Are Jake and Shane going to be there?
B:  Yes they are coming
T:  (laughing to himself) Oh . . .  they're teenagers.

I started by arranging part of my title and journaling in Photoshop.  I measured for the photo and then printed this out on white cardstock.  Since this layout was based on a conversation and not an actual event I went through some photos and picked ones of the people that were mentioned in the conversation .  I happened to find the main photo as an outtake from our family photo shoot and knew it would make a great focal photo since the three teenagers are looking at the little guy.

After getting my title, journaling, and pictures printed.  I then just played around with lots of the different pattern papers in the kit until I was happy with the mix.

I placed the epoxy stickers to draw attention to my title.

I used the Distress Ink to tone down the outside of my white cardstock to help it blend into the background cardstock.

Overall, I was going for a bright and fun layout that documented this little conversation and I'm very happy with the results.  Everything on this layout in exception of the red shipping tag is from the kit.

 I have a few more conversations like this one saved on my phone that I hope to get documented on future layouts.  I love that modern technology can help make this process of getting things recorded a breeze.

High Five Challenge Continues with Summer Lovin' Daily Diary Kit

Hello and Happy Tuesday! Lynn here with another project life page using the gorgeous, summery Summer Lovin' Daily Diary Kit! I'm continuing with this week's High Five challenge. The challenge is to use 5 different manufacturers on our projects OR create a page documenting our 5 favorite things about summer. I chose the 5 manufacturers challenge! Here's my page featuring Elle's Studio papers for the cards. 

I printed my photos using the Collect App and sized them to fit the pocket. I scaled the photos down to allow room to decorate each photo. I also typed on my journaling cards this week. I used Echo Park, A Flair for Buttons, Imaginisce and Simple Stories on this page. Here are some close ups!

I added some enamel dots from my stash for more color. Here's my title card.

I added a few wood veneers included in this month's kit for dimension.

I LOVE using my vintage typewriter to add journaling and it coordinated with the font on the photos and on some of the cards. The green card below also fits the High Five Challenge - my five fav's of the summer!

Homemade Happiness

Hello everyone! I finally got to dig into the May kit, Country Lane. It is gorgeous and was perfect for putting together a layout that celebrates my Mom. She provided her own version of the perfect June Cleaver home. I had a happy childhood with lots of wonderful memories...she is my everyday hero!

I used a candid shot I found of my Mom sweeping out the garage in a dress and apron back in the late 60's with her car in the background. I love how a vintage photo can literally transport you to another era!

 I love the Elle's Studio stamps included in this month's kit. I can see using this one a lot.

To tie into the home (homemade) theme of my layout, I pulled a couple pieces of chipboard homes and home brad from my stash. They complemented Country Lane, so well!

Country Lane is sold out, but you can pick-up the Country Lane Papers Only that were in the May kit.

To all of you mothers out there I hope you have a wonderful Mother's day! What will you be doing to celebrate?

Hi everyone! A couple weeks ago my son's wrestling team had their awards banquet. They had a recording breaking season both as a team and individual wrestlers. After recognizing them for a job well done they hit the games. I captured a couple of photos that show their fun but yet competitive side off the mat!

I used Julie's sketch for my layout. I think this one is really versatile, I'm anxious to try some more ideas with the sketch.

I added punched circles in three sizes onto each upper color blocks. I really love what it added to the layout.

 The journaling is tucked behind that photo on the Take Note card.

Really Bad Photos, But Scrap Worthy

Hey, Everyone!  Hope your week is going well.  I always love Julie's sketches, and she has a new one up.  

I LOVE LOVE circles, and especially in a design.  But I had very limited time, about an hour to get this done.  Using the Daffodil Hill kit, I decided to cut different size circles from a few sheets of the pattern paper as a start.  I picked patterns that were not too large and added some contrast, and texture.  The circles were looking good, so decided I would layer some of the October Afternoon circle labels as well.

The flair was a perfect touch to the design and since this layout was starting to look a little modern and a little officey, I cut a piece of the Webster's Pages paper for the typewriter.  This "lovely" photo with me looking VERY orange was not only taken by my 4-year old daughter, but she picked the filter and uploaded it to Instagram.  I had some scrap friends say that I had to scrap this photo because of her doing this herself, so I took a screen shot on my phone to include all the little gibberish she put in the title.

So the layout is named "Eoscblop."  Typed on the Elle's Studio journaling spot, added a few more embellishments and splatters.

I kept this simple.  The photo would have gotten lost if there was too much on the background since it is sooo orange and dark.  But I felt like I needed something else to finish it off, so I added handstitching in orange to help make the orange photo look better, and then the green twine.

I love that this is documented and that is what I love about scrapbookers...it was a shock that my daughter did this, but it's a scrapbooker to realize that this has to be scrapped.
