Flu season

We're dropping like flies at my house! And what does a scrapbooker do when the flu hits her house? She scrapbooks it! lol So far only my youngest daughter has gotten the flu but 2 of us have had some kind of virus that we're working on getting rid of. So I'm hoping that'll be it and we can all get to feeling healthy again!

I pulled one of the last patterned papers I had left from the Gingerbread and Peppermint Classic Kit and paired it with journaling cards and even some of the 6x6 papers from the She's Crafty Daily Diary Kit for my layout today. You can see those 6x6 papers peeking out from behind my photos.

I printed my photos in black and white since they worked better with my layout (the orange walls at my daughter's doctor's office just didn't go with my page!) And sometimes I just really like the look of black and white...it draws your eye right to the subject of the photo rather than getting distracted by the background.

Christmas Morn

Hey all! I wanted to finish up one more project with the Gingerbread and Peppermint Class Kit before moving on to more January projects. I know a lot of people feel the pressure to be "caught up" with scrapbooking but I don't. I mean, if we were all caught up what would we scrapbook about, right?! But when January rolls around I like to complete at least one layout about Christmas morning knowing that I can go back later and finish up any other layouts for the month (I'll share more about my process for that later).

I already had an idea of how I wanted the layout to go - one larger photo with 3 smaller ones. This page is more of a snapshot of Christmas morning and I'll go back and do another page (maybe a pocket page) with more photos and journaling later.

Winter: Gingerbread and Peppermint Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with a layout from our Christmas card photo session.  I decided to use these pictures to talk about how crazy the weather here in New Mexico is.  It actually snows here!!!  We were shocked when we first moved here and it snowed in the winter.  It still blows my mind.

I knew I needed to use some of these gorgeous papers for this layout.  The plaid paper just plays perfectly with the plaid in the picture of my girls.  

The puffy sticker pack had the perfect title for the topic I was documenting, so I used a few stickers to create the title.  The little snowman was just too adorable!

The large flower was the perfect color to accent around the photos and help bring them together.  

The little bird with the scarf is just the cutest and my journaling on the bottom helped to finish it off.

Power Rangers: Gingerbread and Peppermint Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with a Christmas layout for you using the December classic kit.  This picture was taking a couple of years ago.  My little Layla is normally a girly-girl...and then she will do something like ask for a Power Rangers playset for Christmas.  She also loves Ninja Turtles and Batman.  Whatever floats her boat!  She asked for a playset, she got a playset.  And she still loves it!

I went with the red and pink from the kit since the toy in the picture has red in it and I'm journaling about my little girl wanting a Power Rangers playset.  The colors seem to be natural.

I combined the Elle's Studio and the Thickers to make my title.  Since the Thickers are bold, they stand out against that busy paper nicely.  I layered up a few of the die cuts so that just the edges show to create a frame around the picture.

I cut out a Santa and some presents from some paper to create little die cuts.

A few of the puffy stickers and some banners up in the corner helped me to finish off the layout.

Christmas pups

Hey all and Merry early Christmas!! We're in the home stretch and I still have decorating that I haven't finished yet but it's all good. When my kids get out of school I plan on making lots of cookies & enjoying all of the cheesy Hallmark movies that I can! lol

Today's layout is all about my pups who seem to (almost) love Christmas time as much as I do :) They love hanging out around the tree and are always right up in my business when I'm bringing in new decorations...they have to check everything out of course! 

I love that fun pom pom trim that was included in the Gingerbread and Peppermint Classic Kit and couldn't wait for an opportunity to use it on a layout.

Post 3 of December Daily using the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary

Less than a week before Christmas!  It's hard to believe the month and the holiday season are winding down already.  I have lost a little steam the last week, but have new entries to share today.  Just missing a few days over the last weekend that I haven't put together. 

This week I went through the last year of Noel Mignon kits and pulled out the number stickers from past kits.  A great way to use up some of those numbers :)  I also continued the simple approach to my spreads to get it done. 

Day 12:  My sons holiday band concert.  I thought the jingle bells 4x6 card was appropriate and I used washi tape to attach it to the side of the photos. 

It swings open and I included a strip of pattern paper, a chipboard star, and journaling

Days 13 and 14

Day 13:  I enlarged a photo.  It was taken with my cell phone and came out quite grainy, but I loved this shot so much I went with it.  The journaling I added in Photoshop before printing.  I then added the chipboard embellishment to the top with numbers from a past kit.  

I finished off the text with a few word strip stickers and a puffy red sticker (from a past kit).  

I decided to include another small half page for Day 14.  The journaling and 3x4 card are on the top of the half page.  

I backed the half page with woodgrain paper from the paper pack.  The gold foil stickers are from a past kit.  

Day 15:  Another enlarged photo.  I added the title and text in Photoshop before printing and simply added the numbers and a small puffy sticker from the kit.  

Day 16:  I had a lot of photos to add for Saturday.  I again went to the washi tape to create hinges for a fold out of pictures.  

There you have it.  I have so much enjoyed sharing my entries so far in my album and it has really pushed me to try and get my pages done every couple of days.

UGA Shirts: Gingerbread & Peppermint Dec Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with another layout using the December classic kit.  This week, I went off the Christmas theme again and did a Georgia Bulldogs layout.  We are HUGE Georgia fans in our house and we get the girls their own shirts when they need them.  This year they both got new shirts so we snapped some photos of them wearing them.  I wanted to make this one with this kit because of all of the black and red in the kit and to show you how you can use a themed kit in a different way.

I love the Crate Paper snowflake paper and it was perfect for this layout since it's black and white.  And since I covered up certain parts of it, it doesn't necessarily look like snowflakes.

I needed the "Most Awesome" Elle's Studio letter stickers to stand out against that pattern, so I put them on top of some black cardstock.

Using the "Season" chipboard was great because it shows how you don't have to be scrapping a holiday for it to apply - isn't football season a holiday???  And the black and red bow was perfect!

Instead of using twine or string for the tag, I used a piece of the tinsel wire through it.  I think it adds a fun little detail and a cute spin on how to use it.

The Whitlow Family Christmas Tree

Last Sunday we headed out in the 'ol front wheel drive sleigh in search of the Whitlow family Christmas tree ;) 

We have some wonderful farms near us where we can go and cut down our tree so it makes for a fun tradition every year. 

For my layout I have layers of patterned paper, washi & embellishments from the Gingerbread and Peppermint Classic Kit to make my page festive! I had a hard time choosing between the different patterned papers since there were several with trees on that that would have looked great on my page. I eventually settled on the adorable Crate Paper trees. And can we talk about how cute that tiny washi is?! Can't get enough of it!

December Daily part 2 with the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary Kit

Hi everyone!  I hope you are having a wonderful week.  It's Nicole back on the blog today sharing more of my December Daily album.  One big thing I have learned in doing this album the last few years is that some days are busy and entries can be super simple and other days if I have more time I can really spend more time embellishing.  Both have a place in my album and help me get the project as a whole finished. 

Day 5:  A very simple day.  I used a Tim Holtz plastic number (from my stash) and paired it with one of the small puffy stickers, a strip of cardstock, and a strip of the 6x6 pattern paper. 

Day 6:  Two 4x6 pictures from my sons honor band concert.  I typed the journaling on the photo before printing.  I used the red glitter washi tape along the top and bottom and the music die-cut and letters from the kit.  The chipboard number is from my stash.  

Decorative page:  I tend to include a few of these in my album to break up the pages of photos and journaling.  I used a sheet of pattern paper from the paper pack and cut it to fit my background cardstock.  I then used the chipboard stickers on top.  

Day 7 & 8:  I ended up getting sick the end of last week.  Steve our elf didn't move one of the days and so I decided to tell that story for the two days.  The story for both Day 7/8 and 9 were all small so I cut the page in half.  

I took the 3x4 tag and folded it in half.  I then cut pattern paper strips for the top and bottom.  

Chipboard numbers are from my stash.  

Day 9:  I was home sick again and ended up binge watching Netflix.  

I placed my journaling/picture over the top of the tag and then added the acrylic letters to spell out the word nine.  I finished it off with pattern paper strips and a puffy sticker.  

Day 10:  Family movie night.  I pulled the wood grain pattern paper from the paper pack and cut a strip to go between the photo and jouranling.  I then layered the die cuts and washi tape.  I finished off with chipboard from my stash.  

Day 11:  Last night we did gingerbread houses.  It ended up being a little competition between brothers.  I layered a PNG file by Kerri Bradford (town buildings) with a few fonts for my title.  

I used one of the little word flashcards to make a tab to lift the photo and placed a couple of gingerbread men on the bottom.  

I had three photos I wanted to include plus the other 4x6 photo with my title and journaling.  I used the washi tape to let the top two pictures hinge up to show the bottom two photos.  I then chose a couple of pattern papers to back the top two photos.  

I used a date stamp and StazOn ink to stamp the date on the top photos.  And with that entry done this afternoon I am all caught up with my album.  It feels nice to being able to stay somewhat on top of the project.
