Cards with the Weekend in Paris Daily Diary Kit

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I hope you are having a fabulous week so far.  It is stormy here in Utah today.  I'm excited since I love summer rain storms and I'm hoping it clears out the smoky air that we have had from all the forest fires.

This week the design team was challenged to add hand or machine stitching to our projects.  As I started pulling out all the elements from the daily diary kit I found myself playing with some of the embellishments and knew they would be perfect on cards.

I cut the pendant from one of the 4x6 cards and added the sentiment with a mix of thickers and a 3x4 card.   I added some messy machine stitching to the top of my sentiment.  To achieve a little dimension I used foam adhesive and then tucked my sticker embellishments underneath.

I added a little bit of shine to the butterfly with a little Heidi Swapp color shine from my stash.  

I usually make cards in 2's or 3's so the above card led into the this one:

I used my sewing machine to tack down the background pattern paper.  I then placed a small strip of pattern paper on the bottom and built my elements over the top.  Three of the Heidi Swapp stickers were placed in a visual triangle around my card and I used one of the frames to house my sentiment.  The gold glitter heart as well as the 'be bright', 'be you' were all cut from 3x4 project life cards.

I really love making cards, but I really need to be better about using them.  I'm ashamed to admit how high my stack of homemade cards is getting.  That is all from me today.  I hope you are enjoying this months kit as much as I am.

The Rose: August Weekend in Paris Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with my first layout using the August Weekend in Paris classic kit.  This kit was SO PERFECT for my daughter's ballet picture from this past year.  Layla did a ballet routine to music from Beauty and Beast.  France....pink and lace...Weekend in Paris kit....it was meant to be!

My girls' dance album is an 8.5x11 so that's the size of this layout.  The background paper is from Carta Bella and the blue floral is from Julie Nutting.  I love how they give the layout a vintage look.  Along the bottom I used a bit of the Melissa Frances lace trip which ties into the lace on her costume nicely.

I don't usually have official titles for their dance layouts, I just use the name of the song they danced to written on a kraft banner that I cut myself.  I also wanted to use the Thickers "So Sweet" sticker on here.

Around the photo, I wanted to make it look fancy and French.  I used a doily, a die cut with the Eifle Tower on it from Photo Play and a cute little set of balloons from the Crate Paper sticker sheet, all from the kit!

To finish it off, I used one of the Prima flowers, some of the Carta Bella enamel dots and the Webster's Pages tiny alphabet stickers to highlight the year of her recital.

Overall, this kit was just perfect for my little ballerina!

10 mile hike with the Weekend in Paris Daily Diary Kit

Hello everyone!  Can you believe it is August?!  My husband and I have been helping our oldest son get some of his merit badges done over the summer.  The merit badge we have been pushing to get finished up before school starts is hiking.  We planned one of the 10 mile hikes for this past Saturday and when we arrived home I found my kit on the doorstep.  I sacked out on the couch and as I was going through the kit I knew that many of the elements would work great to tell the story of the day.  This might be a record of taking pictures and almost immediately documenting the story.

All the papers and embellishments are from the kit except the pattern paper circled below.  I picked up the paper pack for this month and cut a few of the patterned strips from the Maggie Holmes paper.  

I cut the polaroid type frames from the Maggie Holmes Carnival paper and placed my smaller pictures behind them.  

I love the mix of embellishments in this months kit.  I used on top of my smaller photos:  cork flower, button, tickets, washi tape, and the resin butterfly.

I added color to the resin butterfly with gelatos.  I rubbed placed a bit of color on and then rubbed it into the resin.  I finished by adding journaling to one of the Project Life cards and stapled the "Love This" to the bottom corner.

I'm excited to work more with this kit this month.  It really has such versatility.
