Last week I shared a couple layouts from my vacation album and this week I'm sharing a few pocket pages that are supplementing those layouts. Traditional layouts were created using the Enjoy the Journey Classic kit and the pocket pages were created using the Enjoy the Journey Daily Diary Kit.

So here is one of the layouts I shared last week:

As I finish up my vacation album I might move things around a bit, add some more pocket pages, etc. But this is how they will look together so far:

I've found that I like to create one layout (almost like a title page) and then add pocket pages for all of my extra photos rather than creating a traditional 2 page layout. Having a variety of different pages adds visual interest to my albums!

Vacation pages // Enjoy The Journey Classic Kit

Hey all! I'm back with some more vacation layouts from our family trip to Michigan last year. While we were there I wanted to give my kids (mostly my son who looooves baseball!) an opportunity to see an MLB game. So we headed to Comerica Park to see the Tigers play the Twins.

 

I love the little alpha stickers in the kit which are great for creating large titles. I grabbed those woodgrain thickers from a previous kit (I believe the December kit).

During our trip we also headed to Ohio to see A Christmas Story House (totally worth it by the way!!!). It was so much fun seeing the house from one of my all time favorite movies! They also had a museum and a pretty amazing gift shop. If you're anywhere near Cleveland, OH I highly suggest going to check it out!

As I mentioned last week, I'm using a 9x12 album for this trip which gives me a little bit more room than an 8 1/2x11 size. Both layouts were created using the Enjoy The Journey Classic Kit. Next week I'll share how I incorporate pocket pages using the Enjoy the Journey Daily Diary Kit in with my traditional pages.

Traveler's Notebook prep using the Dive In Classic Kit

Hey everyone, Michelle here! Today I wanted to share with you a traveler's notebook I prepped for a trip that I'm taking this week so that I can record all of my fun memories. Whenever I use one of these notebooks for a trip I'll do a bit of prep beforehand, do a bit of journaling during my trip, and then finish it up when I get home. I've found that if I do a bit of journaling during my trip it helps with remembering the little things that I might have forgotten by the time I get home (you could also carry a small notebook for this as well). 

So I started with my TN that you can pick up on Amazon and even at Michaels now. I started with just a few elements from the Dive In Classic Kit - mainly that great alpha stamp set - along with another stamp set from my stash. I stamped a few basics on the days that I knew I had plans. The others I'll leave blank until I get home, or fill in a bit when I have some down time during my trip. I skip every other page because the pages in a TN are typically very thin (and the stamping bleeds through) so I'll actually end up attaching those pages together which I will share in a later post. 

I have an Instax printer which I love for my travel TN's. Sometimes I'll bring it along with me on trips & print photos as I go. I also like to use a little zippered bag to carry some of my scrappy supplies with me (I believe I found this one at the Container Store).

I also like keeping some kind of little zippered bag to keep little papers I collect during the trip, this one I found at Michaels. This one fits right in my TN.

Side note - I save just about every little paper & "souvenir" from my trip. They're fun to use when embellishing traveler's notebooks :)

I'll fill in and embellish my album and I will share the finished TN when I get home!

Oregon Coast album // part 1

Hey all!! Today I have the beginnings of my Oregon Coast mini album. We took a trip over to Newport, Oregon last year and I've been wanting to do a mini album ever since. Last year I shared a few pocket pages from the trip (you can see those here). Those are in my family album but I wanted to have a separate album that has more photos & journaling from the trip.

6x8 albums are my go-to size for trip albums. They're manageable, don't take up as much room as a 12x12 album, and they're pretty easy to put together. For my album I'll be using a combination of the Let's Get Lost Classic Kit and Daily Diary kit.

When I'm putting together an album like this I first try to figure out the layout of my album. For this album I created 6x8 'dividers' for each day highlighting the main adventure we took that day (whale watching, visit to the aquarium, lighthouse). Then I'll share some of the other things we did, mostly toward the back of the album (like playing on the beach, collecting seashells, kite flying, etc).

Happy Together Traveler's Notebook Scrapbook

Hey guys! I've been putting together this minibook of our trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado and I had SO much fun doing it in Traveler's Notebook style! It was easy to use our Daily Diary kit (Happy Together) - it kept everything cohesive and since it was already in smaller sizes, they fit perfectly in this book size. I hope you enjoy checking it out- my family sure did! 

Traveler's Notebook Simple Set Up with Little Bird Classic Kit

Have you heard of Traveler's Notebooks? They have been increasing in popularity over the last few years in the planning community, and of course, the scrapbooking community saw what a fantastic way it is to have memory journaling and pretty papers on-the-go and it's being adapted by all sorts of creative folks! I've spotted several new product sneak peeks with a Traveler's Notebook influence this week at CHA, and I'll be excited to see what else comes out for us scrapbookers! 

I am leaving tomorrow for a trip to Colorado with my family. It's been ages since I've flown and I am trying to be wise with my packing space... but I knew I'd want a place to journal and record our adventures. I decided I'd use the Little Bird Classic Kit to make some beauty to travel with me. This little Traveler's Notebook cover came from Amazon about a year ago, and it was around $20. 

I made a paper "cover" to slide in and encase everything inside. I folded over an edge to create a small pocket right inside the cover. 

The elements in this kit were perfect for adding special, easy touches throughout. This section is for a blank book, where I can sketch, practice hand lettering, write out quotes and memories from our week. 

This little plastic pocket is perfect for adding post it notes and little cards with washi tape to,, because it's easily removeable!

The other side has these small pockets that I was able to slide some extra sequins and a card with washi tape in. Those vellum bags from the kit slid in as if they were made for it and it made me so happy!

A section with lined paper for me to journal and make lists in is covered with another sheet of paper, with the back side including a slant pocket I made to slide in additional notes or photos.

travel journal...Disney style!

My family doesn't usually do a ton of traveling. So when we do a big trip - like Disney - it's a big 'to do'!! Last year we went to Disneyland for the first time (awesome trip by the way!!) And since it was our first time there I wanted to make sure I documented everything (or close to it!). So I created a travel journal to take along with me to jot down notes, keep paper souvenirs, mementos, etc.

I'll share more about my process, what I bring with me, etc, in a future post.

So I started with a Basic Grey mini-album. I loved this book because it had regular paper for journaling mixed in with pocket pages, patterned papers, etc.

I pulled out my Pack Your Bags kits and used mostly elements from the Daily Diary kit along with those great orange OA alphas & kraft tape from the classic kit (sold out). Then I went through my book & decorated random pages, mostly ones where I had journaling.

You can see I don't do a ton of embellishing. Just a bit here & there to add some visual interest to my pages. Those 3x4 cards in the daily diary kit are perfect backdrop for photos!

This is not my scrapbook for my trip but rather a 'live' version of our trip...meaning, I jotted down notes about our trip as it was happening (or soon after). It's just a fun book to look back on when the trip was over and it helps when I'm creating our trip scrapbook because I can look back at my notes from the travel journal.

This book also ended up being an autograph book after my little one saw her older brother & sister getting autographs from the characters. I mistakenly thought she'd be too young to do that & didn't get her own book (I should have known better!) but I actually really like having the character autographs in this book!

You'll notice that there are some scribbles on a lot of the pages. My 3 yr old would color in the book when we were waiting in ride lines. On one of them she said "I gwaw Mayer" (I draw Mater). That's something I would never had remembered had I not written it down right there!!

This album had a couple pockets that I kept our schedule with our dining reservations, extra fast passes, memorabilia, etc. Some of it I have taken out to use in my trip scrapbook & whatever is left just stays in the pocket.

Having a travel journal is a fun way to remember all of the fun little details of your trip...Disney or otherwise :) I'll be back in the coming weeks with my process of taking and creating a travel journal on trips!
