It's All in the Details.....

Sometimes it's the little things in life that really make our days special, right? Well, I feel the same way about scrapbooking. As I am scrapbooking I get the "fundamentals" down....but often need a little "somethin" "somethin"...if you know what I mean? Usually I reach for those embellishments that are already made for me and add 'em to my page.......But not today. Today, I made my own. I drew my inspiration directly from the photo. I recreated my son's little snowman guy he made.

Circle punch? Check. Red & orange felt? Check. Buttons? Check. Seed beads? Check. Mica Flakes? Check. One adorable snowman??? CHECK!

So the next time you are stuck on what embellishments would add just the right touch.......maybe try making your own!
Don't forget to check out the challenge blog for this week's Digi Lift Challenge by the very talented Cheryl Ashcraft. (My LO was based on hers!) ONE last FYI......Sonoma County is up for pre-order! It won't last long....so grab this gorgeous kit FAST!!!

A Couple of Sketches for You!

It's been a little while since I've created some sketches . . . so I thought I would share a couple of them with you today. :)

JOY by Jana Eubank

This was a page I did for Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. Our challenge was to focus on the color WHITE. I used the Noel Mignon DEAR SANTA kit and tried to put as much texture as I could in there with the Cuttlebug Morroccan Screen embossing folder (behind the pictures) -- cardstock is misted with the Baby's Breath Shimmerz Spritz from the kit -- and the Basic Grey Doilie paper. (Everything on this page is included in the kit, except for the pearl brads.)

I turned the doilie paper over and used the white side. In the center of the sheet I found a few snowflake shapes. I carefully cut them out to use as accents. When my page was finished, I trimmed it, mounted it on the contrasting pink My Mind's Eye paper and glued it on top of the doilie paper, covering up the snowflake "holes". The result is a very fun, textural border!

LAUGH by Jana Eubank

This page was so much fun together! Once I got going with the pink/yellow/green/white/teal color combination, I couldn't stop. Isn't my niece adorable? :) This page was created using papers and stickers from the Noel Mignon PAPER DOLL kit and LOTS of Zva Creative products from my stash.

More Christmas Pages

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend with your families! And just to keep on with the Christmas spirit . . . I have a few more festive pages to share with you today.

This first one is the page I did for the current Noel Mignon Christmas Movie Quote Challenge. My quote is from the movie, ELF. ELF is my very favorite holiday movie! I have watched it a gazillion times and STILL chuckle at every scene.

I used the quote, "The Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer is By Singing Loud For All to Hear" for these pictures of my daughter at her Christmas Choir Concert. It fits perfect, don't ya think?!! :D :D :D

This second page is a page I did for the Noel Mignon Tip & Technique blog where I show you how to create Sweater Posies. Papers and diecuts are from "The Merry Days of Christmas" collection by My Mind's Eye. (I am in love with the traditional colors in this set!)

Have a wonderful week!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all of you! I have just a quick project to share with you before my kids get up and rip open their presents! I created this little hanging photo frame of my niece and nephew using the Dear Santa kit. I used some of my Spellbinders to cut the frames and snowflakes. I just added some glitter to the snowflakes and vintage buttons.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday and healthy happy new year!

Hot Chocolate!!

Hey there! I don't know about you but I still can't believe that Christmas Eve is tomorrow! Really? I'm ready - but it just came so fast!

I am finally getting around to posting here. And I want to thank my fellow team members for helping a girl out!

This layout was done with the beautiful Dear Santa kit. I used this photo in my December Daly album but I really wanted to scrap it because my daughter has a LOVE for hot chocolate AND one of the songs she sang at her song fest was Hot Chocolate from The Polar Express.

One thing I loved about all of these Christmas papers - they all have patterns that lend themselves so easily to mix and match! I especially love the peppermint paper - cute!

I have quite a few things to share over at the message board in Santa's Workshop - so hop on over.....

It came without ribbons, it came without tags...

I've always love "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." My dad made sure we saw it every Christmas, so by now, it is firmly ingrained into my Christmas traditions!

I can practically quote the whole thing, and it was a no-brainer when Noel issued us this challenge that I would use one of the fabulous lines from The Grinch!

There are so many good ones, but this one is a particular favorite of mine.
I kept the layout design simple to focus on my title... it was hard! I had to keep restraining myself from adding more. I like how it turned out, though.
This was made with the Dear Santa kit (sold out), except for the addition of some October Afternoon letter stickers and some Hambly rub ons.

3 gift bags

Happy Saturday Everyone...Noel and I switched days so she will have some eye candy up for you tomorrow.

These were for the teachers gifts. I had some bags left over from the sewing store and I repurposed them with the Dear Santa Kit (SOLD OUT). It was so fun and easy to do that i think i am going to be doing more of them.

Enjoy

Noel.....

Happy Friday to you all! It is hard to believe that Christmas is less than a week away! So much still left to do!

Even with all the craziness, I try to carve out a little bit of time here and there to create. Honestly, if I didn't I would go nuts! What is the saying? Scrappin' is cheaper than therapy? LOL! Anyway, here is one of my creations using Noel's Dear Santa kit (sold out) and some Jenni Bowlin pennants. I just modged podged the paper on to the pennants and sanded the edges a bit to smooth them down. I cut the letters using my Storybook cartridge/Cricut. I inked the edges and added glitter...........cuz everything looks better in glitter! Then I added some punched shapes and various doo dads from the kit.

Here are some close ups......... : )

Don't forget to pay a visit to Santa's Workshop over at the message board! There is a ton of ideas and inspiration there!!!! And.....have you seen the newest kit sneaks? Paper Doll? Check it out! It's going to go up for sale on the 26th and it ain't gonna last long!!!
Have a great day!

P.J. Pictures

Hello, Scrappy Friends! I'm here for a second time this week because Michelle and I traded spots. :)

Do you have a Christmas Pajama tradition at your house? I know that a lot of families do. :) It's so funny! Every year, my kids get sooooo excited that they get to open one present on Christmas Eve. That is . . . until they rip open the box and remember that mom & dad always give them a new pair of PJ's every year. LOL! What a deflating moment. :) Hehehehe! They get over it soon enough, though. Then they happily put them on and pose for a few snapshots. Traditions! Gotta love 'em!

A memorable Christmas ornament

Come over to the Tree Trimmery Shop to see how I made this little frame Christmas ornament (made with the Dear Santa kit- sold out). I would love to have one of these every few years to show the growth of my kiddos!

Santa Stop Here Sign

Hi there! It's Jana again! Back to show you one more project I just finished up for the Santa's Workshop forum.

This week, I created a decoration that you could create for your home. This is a door hanger sign that I made out of a wood plaque from the Dollar Tree.

I used a card sketch by Juliana Michaels for my design . . . gotta LOOOOVE sketches for saving time during the holidays! :) Everything is from the Dear Santa kit (sold out) except for the October Afternoon Mini Market Letters, the pearls (Zva Creative) and the Shimmerz Pixie Dust Blingz paint (from my stash).

Thanks for coming by!

Night Before Christmas

Do you know what is really getting me in the mood for Christmas this year? :) Pulling out some snapshots and scrapping them with my Dear Santa kit (sold out)! Really! I know I should be wrapping presents, but I can't resist scrapping a page here-and-there.

Each Christmas Eve after the kids have unwrapped their new pajamas from mom and dad and put them on, and after they've set out the milk and cookies for Santa, they always gather around the computer with my husband to check on Santa's whereabouts on the NoradSanta.org site. It's fun to see where Santa is in the world and always helps the kids feel that extra urge to get to bed! :)

Page inspired by the 12.10 sketch by Sketchy Thursdays.

Enjoy your week!

Lil' Gift Box.....and a crooked tree....

Have you been over to Santa's Workshop on the Message Board lately? There are some incredible ideas for Christmas there that you definitely want to check out!! I've included this little box! I've altered it using the Dear Santa kit, a couple of jingle bells and a button. Wouldn't this be a cute way to give some jewelry to the recipient? I just tore my scraps and Modged Podged them to the box. I outlined the perimeter with Stickles and then sprinkled mica flakes on top. The snowflake is by Spellbinders and I did airbrush it with the die cut still on it. I love the contrast of the blue and white!

I added my button, jingle bells, and lil' tag!
The next LO was created for this week's challenge: Merry & Bright, which means holiday & BLING. Except my LO ran into a few snags.............Do you want to see a cockeyed tree? Well.....here it is! I had this idea to make a large tree....spent quite a bit of time dressing it up, adding layers and such only to realize it was a wee bit crooked. By the time I realized it....it was pretty late. So I guess the cockeyed tree is staying. : ) I used Noel's Dear Santa kit for this one as well! I used last year's picture of us with Santa. Surprisingly everyone turned out pretty well!

Here are those "vintage" snowflakes! Tutorial HERE if you are interested!

May your Christmas tree be straight and your day bright! : )
