{So Happy} with the "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit

Hello there!!!  Today I'm sharing my last layout with the "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit.  I loved working with the soft colors in this kit this month.  I really like making double page layouts for my albums mainly because I like both sides of the layout to match, and not clash with each other.  But I enjoy creating single page layouts because they are a nice change of pace for me.  So sometimes when I create single page layouts, I make sure to use the same supplies (and in this case pictures of the same event) on the other side, so the pages still match.  Today I am sharing an example of this.

This week I created this page to match the layout I shared last week.

Here is the layout I shared last week, as you can see I used the same papers and embellishments.

Since I used the same supplies and photos from the same event, the 2 pages will flow from one to another in my album.  

I tried to mimic the embellishment clusters that I used last week, I did this by using cardstock stickers, vellum phrase stickers, a bit of the lace, crepe paper flowers, mini alphabets, and enamel dots.  

I just adore the little camera sticker, and had to use it on one of my layouts this month.  It is precious!  I used more of the same types of embellishments on this cluster as well.  This wrapped up my layout and really brings the eye back and forth between the 2 separate 12x12 layouts to create one cohesive design.

Workspace Hustle: August "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with this week's challenge: share your workspace!  I thought this would be a great opportunity to also make a layout about my creative process.

I love the Heidi Swapp watercolor paper and wanted it to be featured.  The Maggie Holmes arrow paper is so beautiful as well and I used a big piece to highlight it.  

The title is from a Thickers pack from my stash - it was the perfect title for this subject.  I love how the epoxy ribbon snuggles right in with the title.  I used the last piece of doily from the kit and the other black and white ribbon and I love they way that they look layered together.  

The house paperclip from the kit was perfect for this layout since my workspace is in my home.  I used the Freckled Fawn vellum butterfly stickers to help bring attention to the watercolor paper without being too overwhelming.

I fussy-cut some of the flowers from the Maggie Holmes paper to use on either side of the photo.  The flair badge from the kit was a nice little detail on top of the floral piece.  And the black rub-on from my stash was a great addition and helped bring out some of the black in the layout.

And now....here are some photos of my workspace!  I have a room in my house that is dedicated to my scrapbooking and it is my safe space.

 

I have two Ikea shelves that house my albums and some of my supplies.  And a big tower of Iris containers hold supplies for projects that I'm working on or themed supplies like holiday or military things.  

On this shelf, I keep my patterned paper and cardstock along with scraps and some random bins full of things like Thickers and stickers.  

And my desk.  It's an Ikea desk with a row of drawers.  I love my space and I'm happy to share it with you.  We'd love to see your spaces in the Facebook group!

Currently with the Weekend in Paris kits

Good morning!

Today I have another Weekend in Paris project to share with you.

It's a beautiful kit and I wish that I'd had more time to create with it this month. It's been quite a crazy one with summer activities and getting kids ready for school.

Anyway, this month I am creating with the Weekend in Paris Daily Diary kit but I also got the papers and have some embellishments from the Classic kit so I am using some things from both kits on this page.

My oldest daughter turned 13 years old (!!!) a week ago so she is the focus of my project for today.

This cute starry paper was one of my favorites from the kit so I started with that as the base of my page. I used a large heart diecut and matted it on a sheet of patterned paper from the Classic kit after spraying it with mist. 

After that I added some of those pretty acetate frames on the left side of my page and layered some cards and tags together to place on top of the frames. 

I did my journaling on the outer edge of the heart diecut. I like writing my journaling by hand. Some use their computer and that looks really sharp but I like the handmade touch my own writing adds.

This is probably my favorite piece in my space. It was given to me by a friend who no longer needed it (don't you love free??) and holds lots of fun, colorful things like my Queen & Company glitter, etc., my favorite tapes, buttons and spray mists. 

This picture here is my space in progress. I am still moving things from the room I had to myself that is now being turned into my daughter's bedroom. Someday I will have things organized and where I want them but for now it will do.

Hey all! I'm back from our family vacation after being gone for nearly 2 weeks...whew!!! There is so much that has to be done before school starts but I wanted to get a jump start on documenting all of our photos from the trip using the Weekend In Paris Classic Kit.

My friend from high school got married and my youngest daughter was the flower girl in the wedding. She was so sweet and took her job very seriously, even taking the time to carefully place some of the flowers on the path for the bride :) To add a personal touch to my page I added a few flowers from Addie's bouquet. 

{Sweet Little Baby Face} layout with the "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit

Hello there!  It's Meridy here and I have another single page layout using the "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit!  The colors of this month's kit are so soft, just like the soft colors in the photo I choose for this layout.  

I started this layout with 4 triangles I cut from 6x6 squares of my patterned paper.  Once I got them laid out, I decided to add some more patterns with the branding strips on the right hand side of the layout.  I wanted to mimic the vest I'm wearing in the photo, and the cream colored trim in this month's kit was the perfect match!

Next it was time to add my other embellishments, such as a few puffy stickers, cardstock stickers, enamel dots, and vellum phrase stickers.  I tried to use all kinds of patterns and/or colors in order tie everything on this layout together.

Finally, it was time for me to work on the little cluster of embellishments on the upper left hand side of the layout.  I continued using the enamel dots and the puffy stickers to create continuity on my layout.  I also added a tissue paper rose and a flair badge.

Free Little Library: August "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with another layout using the classic kit this month.  I wanted to take advantage of the soft colors and banner elements in the kit.

I really love the Heidi Swapp banner paper and it was the perfect starting point for this layout.  I echoed the banners in two other places using both the Carta Bella black and white paper and the Julie Nutting blue floral paper, along with the die cut banners to the right of the photo.

I used some Tim Holtz distress ink in Hickory Smoke to help bring the papers together and look cohesive.  The gold Crate Paper sequins was the perfect finishing touch to the layout.  And I love that they're self-adhesive!

I used a combination of the two alphabets in the kit, the Thickers and the Webster's Pages tiny alphabet stickers.  The epoxy "yay" sticker was a great way to fill up the awkward space over the journaling spot.

I love the large black and white ribbons and it looks so beautiful over the doily included in the kit.

Love You Always- keeping it simple

Today I have another project for you created with the Weekend in Paris Daily Diary kit and the paper pack from the classic kit.

For this page I did something that I rarely do- I kept the design fairly simple. I did not even add a lot of spray mist like I typically do. I liked the design nice and simple and decided to keep it that way.

My page started out with an   8 1/2x11" sheet of white cardstock mounted on this cute polka dot paper background. I decided to cut some 1/4" strips of black cardstock to make a border around the white cardstock as kind of a frame. I really like that it makes the page stand out more. I cut the black and white striped piece from one of the pocket page cards. 

The things that really catch my eyes most on the page are the gold heart and the handcut roses (Meridy shared her beautiful watercolor technique with these last week- I opted to keep the ones on this page black and white to go with the color scheme of my page). The floral paper may seem a bit overwhelming in one piece but if you cut out individual flowers they are a beautiful addition to any project. The gold heart that I used was cut from one of the journaling cards in the kit. 

I added the black and white puffy sticker bow and doodled strip (these stickers are in the Classic Kit) along with some gold foam Thickers to finish off my title. The gold alphas are perfect! I love their smaller size. The "love you" is also from the Maggie Holmes puffy sticker pack found in the Classic kit. 

Do you challenge yourself to try a different style- used mixed media (mists, paint, etc.) when you usually stay simple or go with a simpler design when you typically like to add a lot of embellishments? 

I am glad that I kept with a simpler design on this page and think it takes on an elegant look with the black/white/gold color scheme.

Hey all, Michelle here! I know some of you probably have kids that have already started back to school but we still have a couple weeks left of summer vacation and we're milking it for all it's worth! I'm also spending a little bit of time documenting our fun memories while they're fresh in my mind.

I know most of you would probably look at the Weekend In Paris kit and think it's not 'summery' but that's what I love about Noel's kits, there is so much variety in each kit you're not limited to one particular theme. 

For this page I was drawn to those colored lanterns in the the background paper (at least they look like paper lanterns to me!) and loved how the pink patterned paper and doilies added a nice accent. 

I grabbed the blue alphas from the High Five Daily Diary kit and they matched perfectly with the 'fun' sticker and the mini alphas from the Weekend In Paris kit.

You'll also notice I don't have any journaling on this page, which I sometimes will do when it's an activity that we do every year. There's not much to document other than the photos of us being together and that's enough for me :) 

Side note on getting that action shot of my son coming out of the waterslide - I actually take video & then go back and take pictures from the video. Much easier than trying to take a picture at just the right second!

{Hello, My Love} layout with "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit

Hello all!  It's Meridy here with a layout I made using the "Weekend in Paris" Classic Kit.  I went for a bit of a monochromatic black and white look with a little touch of aqua.  I thought that the black and white picture of my son from last year would go perfectly with this color combo.

I layered a piece of black cardstock with the "b" side of one of the Maggie Holmes papers from this month's kit and topped that with the heart print paper to create the base of my layout.  Once I had that set up everything else layered together pretty quickly.

I knew right away that I wanted to use the "hello" wood veneer and paint it white to match the layout.   As I was going through the rest of the embellishments from the kit I found the word "LOVE" on the puffy sticker sheet.  I thought that the "hello" and "love" were perfect for a title, and I decided to add the word "my" with the mini alpha stickers for the final title of "hello my love".  

I added the cute clip with hearts on it right above my title, a sprinkling of dark grey enamel dots and the self adhesive gold sequins,  2 banner die cuts, a bit of the gold washi tape, the date, and a couple of label stickers to finish off my layout.

Cross-Stitch: August Weekend in Paris Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with this week's challenge: Using stitching somehow on your project.  It can be hand-stitching or using a sewing machine.  I chose to hand-stitch on my layout and it was perfect since my layout is about my daughter Caylan completing her first grown-up cross-stitching project.

For the background, I wanted to use this Heidi Swapp paper with the ovals on it because they remind me of the cross-stitching hoops used to make the projects.  I also used more Heidi paper with the pink gingham and a strip of Julie Nutting paper with the blue florals.  I chose to use some Tim Holtz distress ink to highlight the edges of the papers since I was using multiple patterns together.  I used the color Worn Lipstick.

I used some black thread to do my hand-stitching.  I did a few stitches along the Melissa Frances lace trim from the kit. I did this on the top and bottom of the layout.

I did bring out two things from my stash I had been saving for this layout.  The "So Much Fun" die cut and the "Make" wood veneer.  Both highlight this topic perfectly.  For the title, I used the Thickers and the Webster's Pages tiny alphabet stickers.  I highlighted the title and embellishment cluster with the enamel stickers from Thickers.

For more hand-stitching, I used an Amy Tangerine stencil from my stash and made some cross-cross stitches to highlight the fact that the topic is about cross-stitching.  I did a series of stitches on both sides of the layout.

This layout was super fun to make and I haven't hand-stitched in a while so it was a good push to get me to do it again.

Stitching and the Weekend in Paris kit

Hello again!

Today I am sharing my first project created with this month's Weekend In Paris kits. I received the Daily Diary kit but also got the paper kit so I will be incorporating that with my kit.

This week's designer challenge is to add stitching to a project. 

While I love to machine stitch on my pages my machine isn't working right now so I pulled out a paper piercer and some embroidery floss and added stitching on a couple spots on my page. 

After handcutting this cute pennant strip from some patterned paper and adding the pompom trim I added some stitching. I used my paper piercer to make the holes before doing the stitches to make it easier to go through the paper.

I also added a couple of x's here on this lower part of the page. I like the homemade element it adds to my layout as well as the bit of blue that complements the kit colors well. 

There is such a fun mix of embellishments in this kit, as there always is, but these little gold foam Thickers are my favorite! They are just the right size for titles in small spots like this journaling spot that I cut from one of the pocket cards included in the kit. I also punched some tiny stars from the pink paper I used on my page.
