Maiden Voyage Crop Challenge!

 Hi everybody! It's Chief Steward Brittny! I hope you're enjoying the maiden voyage of the SS Mignon. I am here to share with you the second challenge of the day! Now, this one is a little different than the others, see, because all you have to do is scrap about a "first" in your life. Your daughter's first date, first fight with your husband, first grey hair, or in my case, my son's first trip to the zoo. This little layout is going into my son's baby album which is a Project Life style album. This happens to also be a maiden voyage for me in that I have never done a pocket page devoted to just one event - usually I just pick one or two photos or ephemera and include one little bit of journaling for an event. But since there were like, 97 good pictures to choose from, I couldn't resist! I see a pattern developing...

 

 I am using a mix of the Sweet & Simple kits and the South Shore big kit (sorry, already sold out!) for this layout. I must also confess that I am so not a "red" person - I usually don't use it in my layouts almost at all, but my mamala's red shirt kinda made it completely necessary, so red it is!! And it's a good thing both of these kits work so well for the green/red/mint/wood grain palette!

 Here I used one of the Elle's Studio cut-outs, with the '#goodtimes' stamp from the South Shore kit in grey, and the 'remember' stamp from the Sweet & Simple DD kit in black. I slid on both of the little plastic paperclips, and then I just hot glued that adorable chipboard tab and button from the Summer Bliss set in the South Shore kit. Gotta add a little twine from my stash to the button, too - how could you not?

 This is probably the least complicated filler card I've ever made. Cut down the paper, hot glued the chipboard camera to the card, hot glued the summer chipboard banner to the camera, then tucked the two pennant stickers on each side. Then of course I added a couple of enamel dots. Cause ya hafta.

For this card, I cut a piece of the Elle's Studio grid paper to 3x4. I cut out that yellow strip from the same sheet of paper, tacked it to the top, stuck down a piece of that super cute (even though it's red ;)lol) adhesive banner across the card, and stitched on the "This is right now" piece. After everything was stitched, I just added a couple of those Heidi Swapp puffy arrows, a brad from the Summer Bliss brad set in the South Shore kit, and the enamel dots from the Sweet & Simple DD kit.

And that's it. And I feel oddly good about it. Something totally different than my usual style about one of the sweetest firsts on our little guy's record!

High rollers welcome: Cash in your chips!

Goooood morning Crusiers! I hope you've been enjoying your cruise so far this week. As we are speeding full steam ahead into our final port and preparing to disembark from our lovely cruise ship I, as the ship's head casino cashier, regretfully inform you that it is now time to cash in your chips. That's right, in order to reap your maximum reward from your cruising experience, you must create a layout with a circle theme using at least 8 paper circles. Punch them, cut them, Silhouette-them, it doesn't matter how you create them, simply create a layout with a minimum of 8 circles and you'll be a high roller on this cruise!

 

I used the South Shore kit's bounty of colorful paper to cut 16 different circles to use on my layout. My trusty Creative Memories circle templates (which are some of the oldest supplies in my stash) helped me cut out circles and rings from the patterned paper, then I simply mismatched them for a fun whimsical look. After framing my picture, I embellished each circle giving each one a little oomph. My final touch was to tuck the Elle's Studio label behind my picture to give my page a title and that was that. My chips were cashed and I my reward this fun summer layout!

Shore Concierge: Let's take a walk on the shore!

Goooooood morning my happy cruisers! I'm your host for our shore excursion today! We're going to get off this lovely boat, be landlubbers for a bit, and take a walk on the shore! 

My challenge for you is to scrap those water fun photos today! 

I used the South Shore Daily Diary kit to create this simple layout of my hubby and I's getaway earlier this summer. Even though the Daily Diary is meant for Pocket Style scrapping, you can EASILY use it for other projects... traditional style scrapping, home decor items, mini albums... I love it! It's also great for a smaller scrapping budget. ;)

To make this layout have a little more than just paper stuck to paper, I added stitching and doodling around several of the elements. I really reigned myself in from going overboard because I didn't want the page to get too busy with all these photos, and I think I did well.

Getting messy with paint and ink: Sea Spray Cruise Crop Challenge

Hey there, cruise mates!

Are you having fun yet?

I am Becky, your ship carpenter, and I have a new challenge for you today. 

Since my job is to keep things in tip-top shape around here, taking care of the paint and other such fun things, my challenge to you will be to use paint or ink in a fun, creative way on your project. 

I actually really like using paint and spray ink on my pages but for some of you it might be a bit of a stretch out of your comfort zone. Maybe try just a little bit to start and then add more. You will love the result!

I started out with some streaks of paint on my page like this: 

I spread the paint around with a scrap of paper and then added some spray mist to that painted background. 

I let it dry and then added my pictures and other bits and pieces and came up with this:

hello Seattle // Port-of-call challenge!

Good Monday morning! It's time to set sail on our Cruise Crop!

I have a Port-of-call challenge for you all! It's time to scrap those vacation photos!

Since we're on a cruise I thought it fitting to scrap photos of our Seattle trip from a few years ago. Boy was it fun working with these photos and seeing how much my kiddos have grown...especially my little one who was less than 3 mos old in these photos!

I used the South Shore Classic Kit for this layout (Sold out but there's 1 or 2 of the Balboa Kit left and it's on sale!).

The Simple Stories paper in this kit made the perfect background for my photos. I cut up some of the arrows in the Jillibean soup paper & stitched them on.

I added a few accents here & there (I am loving those Heidi Swapp stickers!). The "good times" was stamped with Teal Blue StazOn ink. I actually stamped once on a piece of paper and then stamped onto my layout to get the color I wanted.

And since I had a ton of photos from our 1st trip to Seattle, I created a second layout with a Project Life page protector (Design V in the Small Variety Pack 5). I love using this design because you can add a ton of landscape oriented photos. When I do this I usually go pretty simple (as you can see). I just add a few embellishments here & there but that's about it.
