Surprise Donuts - Februrary Classic Kit: Happy Together

Hello everyone!  I'm so excited to share my first layout using the Noel Mignon monthly kits.  This month's kit is called Happy Together and I received the awesome classic kit.  When I initially went through the supplies, the one thing that stood out to me was the donuts!

And I have some donut pictures!  I loved the large donut sticker on the Pebbles sticker sheet and wanted to incorporate it creatively.  I decided to make that part of my title by substituting it for the "O" in my title.

I highlighted it by also adding one of the sparkly pink bows on it.  I loved the Illustrated Faith paper that already had some pattern on the corners so I decided to keep the layering simple by just adding one long strip of Crate Paper chevron patterned paper and leaving it at that.  The bag from our local donut shop was just a perfect addition and I used it like a second photo and used it to hold my journaling and a few embellishments.

I also wanted to add a couple pops of yellow by using another circular element with the "Hello" die cut and the Heidi Swapp "This" arrow pointing to the donuts in the picture.  I also added one smaller pop of yellow in the upper corner to create that visual triangle.

I used one of the Jillibean Soup wood veneer words and dressed it up with the Tim Holtz Distress Crayon (in Picked Raspberry) to help it stand out.  I added it right on top of the donut on the paper bag.  I love the little pop of darker pink it adds.

For the journaling, I added this "Today" tag to the paper bag and journaled about how my husband occasionally will get up early in the morning on his days off and surprise us with a box of donuts for breakfast.  It's always such a special treat!

Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you like the layout I made!  For more on the kits and to get one of your own, please check out the site: www.noelmignon.com

Have a great week and I'll see you again next Friday with another layout!

{High Five} Challenge with the "Summer Lovin'" Classic Kit

It's Meridy here and I have a layout to share today from the "Summer Lovin'" Classic Kit!  Keeping with the "High 5" theme this week, I challenged myself to use at least 5 different manufacturer's products on my layout.  This is so simple to do with the Noel Mignon kits because they are so PACKED with products!

I started with paper from Simple Stories Sunshine & Happiness collection and added a strip of paper from the Imaginisce Sunny collection.  Once I had the background of my layout created, I used some of the yellow cardstock from the kit and punched it with a border punch to add a little interest.  Next I matted the photo with cardstock from my stash and adhered that to my page.

Then it was time to really add in some more manufacturers...

I used alphabet stickers from Imaginisce and green Thickers from the "Happy Days" June 2016 Classic Kit for my title.

I layered up a Jillibean tag, the Elle's Studio puffy stickers & label, some Echo Park brads, and a vellum die cut from my stash.  I topped off the Jillibean tag with a little Tim Holt Distress Crayon for a water color effect, and did my journaling right on top of that.

And with those finishing touches, my layout was complete!  I believe total, I used 8 different manufacturer's products on this layout.  I always have fun mixing and matching products (and past kits) to create cute layouts for my albums.  That's one reason I love these kits so much, Noel mixes and matches for me, so I can just sit down create!!!

Working with Distress Crayons and the "Summer Lovin'" Classic Kit

Happy 4th of July!!!  It's Meridy here, and this week the design team is sharing their layouts using the Distress Crayons from the "Summer Lovin'" Classic Kit.  I was super excited to get the 2 Distress Crayons in this month's kit because I have never used any sort of mixed media on any of my layouts. Right away I started researching Distress Crayon techniques on Pinterest.  I found this video very helpful.

Here is the layout that I created, I am just getting my feet wet with the mixed media, it was a little harder than I thought!!!  So I practiced a little on some scrap paper first.

Before using the Distress Crayons, I loosely laid out my photos and paper layers.  Once I decided where I wanted the water color look to go, I colored a bit with the pink crayon and wet it with a water brush, moving the color around on the white background paper.

You can see the light pink on both sides of the layout, then I decided I also wanted a little yellow crayon on the journaling tag.  Once it was dry I was able to journal right over it with a black Precision Pen.

Next I added chipboard embellishments, brads, and some sequins on both sides of the layout.  I thought the layout looked like it was still missing a little something, so I used some Mr. Huey mist and spattered some yellow mist across the layout.

I am looking forward to using some more of the Distress Crayons on future layouts.  It was so fun stepping out of my comfort zone and giving a little mixed media a try.  I would love to see how you are using your Distressed Crayons too!!!  You can share your NM Kit layouts on our Member Facebook Page.
