{41 and Blessed} Layout with the "Home Sweet Home" Classic Kit

Happy Monday!  It's Meridy again.  I have a layout to share with the "Home Sweet Home" Classic Kit and it's rich autumn colors.  Today I'm sharing a layout of my birthday 2016.

The colors in my photos are really rich and deep, so the colors in this month's kit complimented them wonderfully!  I started with a neutral cream background since the photos are so colorful, and just added patterned paper in small amounts.  I really like the way the dark maroon paper grounds the photos.

I LOVE pumpkin spice lattes, so I was drying to use the stamp set in this month's kit, and since they got me a PSL for my birthday, it was the perfect embellishment for this layout!  I added a chipboard circle and gemstone brad to dress up my stamped, paper pieced image.

Next, I went to work on the title.  I mixed and matched Thickers from this month's kit with the word "blessed" fussy cut from a patterned paper, along with an alphabet stamp and a couple of word stickers from my stash.  I dressed it up with a couple of rub ons and some chipboard stickers.

Next, I added the little "pumpkin spice" coffee cup chipboard sticker towards the bottom of the layout, another gemstone brad, and a couple of stamped sentiments.  And that waps up my layout for today!!!  Thank you for stopping by!

{Visit to the Pumpkin Patch} Layout using the "Home Sweet Home" Classic Kit

Happy Monday, friends!  It's Meridy here and before I share my layout today, I wanted to remind everyone that sign ups for the next 6 month term of subs are closing in a couple of days.  If you want to sub to the Noel Mignon kit for January-June 2018, you can sign up right here.
Today I'm sharing a layout with the beautiful "Home Sweet Home" Classic Kit.  There are still a couple of these kits in the store.  They are perfect for documenting fall activities and traditions.  I used the "Home Sweet Home" Kit to document a trip to the pumpkin patch...

I decided to start this layout with the plaid patterned paper, I love the plaid pattern and colors in this paper, I really like that it was on the diagonal, so I had to use it right away.  After matting my photos I pulled the coordinating chipboard embellishments, brads, and rub-ons from the kit and put them to work on this page.

I used a few scraps of lace trim that I had leftover from a previous Noel Mignon kit to add a little texture to the layout. I also decided to mat the whole layout on the orange patterned paper from this month's kit.  I thought it looked a little more "finished" matted on the orange.  I used one of the cut apart elements that reads "Happy Pumpkin Season", it was made for pictures like these!!!

Finally, I used the brown "faux-stitched" Thickers for part of my title that read "Visit", a couple of word stickers that read "to the", and a rub on that read "Pumpkin Patch" to complete the title.  I love mixing and matching fonts for my layout titles.  And this was no exception.  I layered a couple of chipboard pumpkins and sprinkled some chipboard leaves to finish off the title area.

And that wraps up my layout for today!  Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you are having fun documenting your fall with the beautiful "Home Sweet Home" Noel Mignon Kits this month!!!

A Recipe Challenge with the "All Fall" Classic Kit

Hello all!  Today I will be sharing another layout I made with the "All Fall" Classic Kit.  I'm happy to say, I got quite a few double page layouts out of this month's kit, and a couple of single pagers too!

This week's Design Team's Challenge...it is a recipe challenge, and I think these types of challenges are so fun. The recipe we are following this week is:

1 sheet of cardstock
2 alphas
3 photos
4 patterned papers
5 embellishments

Well, I kept finding things that I needed to add to my layout in this month's kit, so some of these things I used "at least" that many.  For example, I used more than one piece of cardstock.

Here is the layout I created...

1 sheet of cardstock---check!  Well, actually 3 sheets.  Both the maroon and the yellow cardstock came from this month's kit, the cream cardstock was a scrap from a past kit that I punched with a border punch.

2 alphas---check!  The word "just" is from a set of Thickers from my stash, the word "us" came from the Pretty Little Studio Mini Alphas in this month's kit.

3 photos---check!  These photos were some maternity photos from last November, just 4 weeks before the baby was born.  I knew this would be my last pregnancy, so these pictures are really special to me.

4 patterned papers---check!  I just love the hounds tooth and wood chevron papers in this month's kit.  I added another woodgrain branding strip from the "All Fall" kit and a scrap of brown patterned paper from October's kit.

5 embellishments---check!  And then some... I started with a few rub ons, a wooden chip, a couple of brads, some enamel dots, a label sticker, a printed chipboard sticker, and finally a punched heart.

Here are a few close ups of my layout.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I can't wait to break into my December "Oh What Fun" Classic Kit.  Stop by all week to see the rest of our design team's recipe challenges.  Have a great week!!!

{Thanksgiving Traditions} Challenge with the "All Fall" Classic Kit

Happy Thanksgiving week my Noel Mignon friends!!! This week the design team is sharing layouts about Thanksgiving family traditions.  There are still 3 more "All Fall" Classic Kits in the store, so if you need to document your Thanksgiving memories, check them out.

I love the hexagon paper that came in this month's kit, so it was the star of my layout this week.  I started with that piece and pulled the other papers and embellishments based on the colors in my photos.

The tradition that I scrapbooked about began in our family in 2012.  The tradition is that we read the Elf on the Shelf and the elves show up on Thanksgiving Day.  This past year, I read the book not only to my kiddos, but to my nieces and nephews too.

I used a blue alphabet sticker from my stash to spell "tradition" because it matched the blue in the paper so well.  The word "Thanksgiving" is fussy cut from the Carta Bella paper from this month's kit.  I embellished the title with a chipboard leaf and a couple of beautiful Echo Park brads.

I cut a piece of the brown sheer ribbon from the "All Fall" kit in half lengthwise and tucked both sides under the layers of papers.  I really like the way it looks peeking out from under the layers.  I finished off the journaling block (which is some packaging from the Petty Little Studio stickers) with a couple of more simple embellishments.  The background paper is so busy, that I felt that I only needed a couple of embellishments on this page.

I started the second side of the layout with a collage print and used the Simple Stories blue paper as a background.  The subtle pattern makes a perfect background paper, similar to cardstock, but with a little touch of pattern.

I finished off this side of the layout by piecing together a few fussy cut hexagons and adding a branding strip with a floral pint down the right hand side.  The word "gathering" was also cut from the Carta Bella paper.  I paired that with another chipboard leaf and a couple of brads for a finishing touch.

Thank you for stopping by today to see what I created.  Come back all week to see what other Thanksgiving traditions the design team shares!

{Pumpkin Patch Challenge} with the "All Fall" Classic Kit

It's Meridy here today sharing my first layout using the beautiful "All Fall" Classic Kit.  There are still 4 more of these kits available in the store, and they are JAM PACKED with goodies...

This week the design team is working with the "Pumpkin Patch Challenge".  This challenge is to create a page with "patches" of paper as the background, and incorporate stitching somewhere on the page.

I started the layout using the orange cardstock as the background.  Then I pulled a few pieces of patterned paper that coordinated with the colors in my photo and cut them into 1 1/2 squares.  Next, I began arranging them on the orange cardstock on the diagonal.  I didn't use any particular pattern, I  randomly placed them so that no two of the same were next to one another.  After I adhered the squares, I machine stitched down the space between each row.

After I got the patchwork looking the way I wanted, I placed my photo where I wanted it to go and added the title and a sprinkling of embellishments on the top right corner of the 5x7 photo.

Next, I added a piece of the packaging of the Pretty Little Studio stickers to serve as my journal block.  It was printed to look like lined notebook paper, so it lended itself to be used on a layout, rather than be thrown away.

I finished off the layout with a few more Simple Stories printed chipboard shapes and some beautiful Echo Park brads from the kit.  I used the Tim Holtz brown distress marker included in the kit to do my journaling.

Thank you for stopping by today, come back all week to see how the rest of the design team uses "patchwork" and "stitching" on their layouts!  Have a great week!!!

Working with Distress Crayons and the "Summer Lovin'" Classic Kit

Happy 4th of July!!!  It's Meridy here, and this week the design team is sharing their layouts using the Distress Crayons from the "Summer Lovin'" Classic Kit.  I was super excited to get the 2 Distress Crayons in this month's kit because I have never used any sort of mixed media on any of my layouts. Right away I started researching Distress Crayon techniques on Pinterest.  I found this video very helpful.

Here is the layout that I created, I am just getting my feet wet with the mixed media, it was a little harder than I thought!!!  So I practiced a little on some scrap paper first.

Before using the Distress Crayons, I loosely laid out my photos and paper layers.  Once I decided where I wanted the water color look to go, I colored a bit with the pink crayon and wet it with a water brush, moving the color around on the white background paper.

You can see the light pink on both sides of the layout, then I decided I also wanted a little yellow crayon on the journaling tag.  Once it was dry I was able to journal right over it with a black Precision Pen.

Next I added chipboard embellishments, brads, and some sequins on both sides of the layout.  I thought the layout looked like it was still missing a little something, so I used some Mr. Huey mist and spattered some yellow mist across the layout.

I am looking forward to using some more of the Distress Crayons on future layouts.  It was so fun stepping out of my comfort zone and giving a little mixed media a try.  I would love to see how you are using your Distressed Crayons too!!!  You can share your NM Kit layouts on our Member Facebook Page.

"Happy Days" Classic Kit: Against the Grain & Layout Share

It's Meridy here.  I have my last few layouts that I made with the "Happy Days" Classic Kit to share with you all today.  I'll start with the featured layout, the design team is going "against the grain" this week and using wood grain (or wood veneers) in our layouts.

I made this 2 page layout and the colors in the photos seemed to work really well with the Simple Stories papers in the "Happy Days" kit.

I enjoyed layering the papers and scraps on this layout, and I slipped a wood grain scrap of paper to the left of the 5x7 photo on this page.  After I got all of the papers layered, I worked on the title.  You can find a little more wood grain in the ampersand symbol of the title "BIG sis & little BRO".  I also sprinkled some brads, chipboard, and enamel dots around the title.

I continued using chipboard, brads, and enamel dots in 2 other clusters on the page to complete it.

The right hand side of the layout I used an 8x10 collage,  I could not narrow my pictures down any further, so this helped me fit them all on the layout.

To finish off the layout, I continued the embellishment cluster and strips of paper (including one wood grain paper) onto the right hand side of the layout.

The Noel Mignon Classic Kits are such a great value, I get to create with them all month long and typically get about 10 double page layouts and 1-2 single page layouts every month.  I do add my own solid cardstock to the kits to stretch them this far, so I wanted to share a few extra layouts with you this month...

Thank you for stopping by today!!!  Check out the blog all week to see how the rest of the design team goes "against the grain" with the Happy Days kits!

Here Comes the Sun-"Trailblazer" Classic Kit

It's Meridy here with another layout using the "Trailblazer" Classic Kit.  This week's theme is "Here Comes the Sun"...so see if you can spot my hidden sun on this layout.   You have to look close, it's hiding!!!

I decided to create this double page layout using photos from a vacation to Texas in 2014.  I felt like the colors worked well with my photographs.

I loved the October Afternoon "Tiny Type" alphas that came in this month's kit.  I use them quite often in my titles, so I am always excited to get a new color.  The teal in this month's kit was beautiful and versatile.  I also took advantage of the Elle's Studio cut apart banners.  They give an added little pop of color when I need it.  On this page I used the "Summer Vacation" and "Go. See. Do." banners.

I added one of the brad/die cut combos in this corner of the page along with an October Afternoon label sticker and a few rub ons to create a small embellishment cluster.  I also decided to ink the edges of the lighter papers to make them really pop against the background.

I created my journaling on the right side of the layout and surrounded it by embellishments to draw your eye to it.  I think you can spot the "hidden sun" in this photo---it came from the MME rub on package that came in the kit.

This little green camera was my favorite rub on in the package, because I am a sucker for cameras!!!  I just love photography and taking pictures, so naturally, I am drawn to all things camera related.

Thank you for joining me today.  There are a couple more "Trailblazer" Classic Kits available in the store.  They work great for a variety of layouts including vacations, camping, adventures, outdoors, and boys, just to name a few.

I will see you tomorrow with another "Trailblazer" layout!!!
