December Daily wrap up with the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary

January 2nd.  Crazy right?!  Time never slows down and with the passing of the holidays and ringing in the new year I finished up my December Daily album.  At one point in the midst of the madness that is Christmas I almost tossed in the towel.  I am so glad I stuck it out!  The big key was keeping it simple. 

Day 17:  A look at the advent calendars my little guy used this year to count down to the big day. 

Day 18:  I decorated the sugar cookies with a little help from my youngest.  

Day 19:  I finished up an ornament for the tree and a memory of my mom.

Day 20:  My oldest and I finished up some homemade Christmas gifts for his friends.  

Day 21:  My little guy couldn't wait for Christmas to give me his present from school.  A new ornament to hang on the tree with ribbon inside that is his height right now. 

Day 22:  An annual Christmas party with good friends.  

Day 23:  Steve our elf brought us "tickets" to go see a movie together.  

Day 24:  I included our family photos this year that I never made into Christmas cards.

And at long last Christmas morning arrived.  Day 25:  A few snapshots I took of the boys.  I don't take a lot of pictures this day so I can soak in all the goodness of the day.  

And there you have it my December Daily for 2017.  

I'm still figuring out how exactly I'm going to bind it together.  My wire rings are a little small so if I go that route I will need to get wider rings.  For now though it is stacked neatly on a shelf with my other albums and I'm calling it done.  I love looking at the stack of albums that document our Christmas season.

Staying Warm with the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary kit

Happy after-Christmas! 

I hope that you had a merry time celebrating with friends and family. 

Today I have another project to share using the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary kit.  There is still another of this cute kit in the Noel Mignon shop as well as a few of this month's classic kit. 

For the title of my page I used one of the Tim Holtz holiday flash cards. I trimmed the words off of the card using some sharp scissors to get into the tight spots. I added a Crate Paper chipboard star to the end of the "y." 

I used the remainder of the Crate Paper "Hot Cocoa" patterned paper left over from another project to anchor my page. I tucked a little tag under the right side of my photo for a journaling spot and added lots of cute Crate Paper chipboard with foam adhesive on some to vary the height of the elements on my layout.  

I used a strip of green washi tape along the bottom of my photo to draw attention to it. 

The gold washi and twine are from my craft supply. 

I finished off the page with lots of Crate Paper word stickers tucked here and there on the page.

It's hard to believe that we are almost at the end of another year.

Baby it's cold outside

One of my favorite parts of the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary kit is the Crate Paper "Snow and Cocoa" collection chipboard shapes.

We are supposed to get some snow in west Texas this weekend and we are hoping so badly that the forecast comes true!

I decided to create a project around the Snow and Cocoa chipboard for this week:

I used part of the Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa blue gingham patterned paper on the top of the page, then added my photos and tucked in lots of the Crate chipboard shapes here and there all over my layout.

I used some twine to help create motion on my page, tucking one end under the "let it snow" chipboard and the other under the photo on the left side of the page. 

I used the gold chipboard frame from the Crate Paper chipboard but cut it in half so that I could tuck part under each of my photos. 

I added a cute Pink Paislee black and white striped fabric bow to the chipboard polar bear and added some enamel dots from my craft supply to the centers of the snowflakes. 

I finished off the page with lots of Crate Paper phrase stickers.

Oh, and I also added the little holes in the alphas on the "BRRRR" chipboard.

A strip of plaid washi tape added just the right touch to the bottom of the layout.

Can you believe that Christmas is almost here?

Christmas Cheer

Today I have a few little projects to share with you.

Something about the holiday season makes me want to be crafty!

The hard part is finding time to create in between school, kids' activities and holiday fun so the projects I share with you today are quick and easy to complete in a short amount of time.

All of these were made using the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary kit found here.

My first project is this altered wooden tree decoration:

For this I cut paper strips the width of the tree branches and glued them on with a tape roller adhesive. I used washi tape from the kit on a couple of the branches as well as green glitter tape on the base. I did use some gold tape from my craft supply for the star at the top of the tree. 

I also made a couple of quick cards using some My Mind's Eye journaling cards from the kit along with washi tape, puffy letters and some twine.

{BRR, it's Cold} Layout with the "Gingerbread & Peppermint" Kits

Hello friends, it's Meridy here with you, sharing a layout I made this weekend with the "Gingerbread & Peppermint" Daily Diary and Paper Add-On kits.  There are still a couple of these beautiful kits in the store, they are great for documenting winter and Christmas.  Today, I used some of the supplies from the kit that are not typically "classic" Christmas colors.  The colors worked great with my photos though.  

I started with the black and white background paper, and knew I wanted to add a little water color to the design to brighten it up a bit.  First, I laid out the photos and a few of the paper embellishments to get my approximate placement.  Then I removed those items and started painting the background.  The faster I painted, the better it turned out.  So I tried not to overthink my brushstrokes or color blending. 

Next, I decided that I wanted to paint the "BRR" and "Cold" wood veneers white, so they would pop against the background of the layout.  I used white acrylic paint.

Then I adhered all of the photos and paper layers that I had so far.  It looked a little bare in places, so I dressed everything up with some of the adhesive chipboard from the kit.  

Last, I sketched a double line around each piece of paper and added my journaling.  I left a small bit of white cardstock empty, just to journal in.  I try to plan my journaling as I am creating the layout, so it fits in and looks like it belongs on the layout.

December Daily Album with the Gingerbread and Peppermint Daily Diary kit

Hello everyone!  Nicole here on the blog today.  It has turned bitter cold here in UT (as I put together this post I am wearing about three layers of clothes) and it's starting to look a lot like Christmas.  This month Noel knocked it out of the park with the beautiful holiday kits.  I was so excited when mine arrived and knew that I would be using it to put together my December Daily.

This is my sixth year (?) putting together a December Daily album.  I would have had more but one year I found out I was pregnant and fatigue kicked my butt and last year I was sick for most of December.  Anyway . . . it's become one of my favorite holiday traditions and something that makes me reflect everyday on my surroundings and my favorite time of year.

I decided this year to try and make my own album and I'm totally winging this as I go.  I will share everything here in my blog posts for the week and you can see my progress as I go along.  Along with the daily diary kit this month I also picked up the extra papers/cardstock.  I used  a couple of pieces of cardstock from the paper pack and mat board to make my back and front covers.  The inside cardstock is #110 weight white cardstock that I cut to size.

My album size is about 7.5 x 9.5 with the inside cardstock pages cut to 6.75 x 8.75

I used an enlarged photo of my tree this year for the cover and then pulled items from the kit to embellish.  The tag die cut I covered with washi tape and then placed down a music die-cut, the s wood pieces, and chipboard numbers (from my stash).  Once those items in were in place it seemed a little plain so I pulled out the ribbon and tied a double bow.  I like the texture this adds to the top. 

The rest of the album will most days be pretty simple with one or two photos (maybe no photos), a few embellishments, and some journaling.

Day 1 and 2:

Day 1 was all about the return of Steve our Elf and Sprinkles his trusty reindeer sidekick.

I used a 4x6 photo that I added journaling onto and paired it with a 4x6 card from the kit.  I die-cut a few photo corners from one of the 6x6 pattern paper sheets and used a foam sticker alongside my number stickers (from my stash). 

Day 2 was a busy day for us.  I decided to print three photos and then had a lot of journaling to include so I printed that to lay over the top of my photos.  I attached the top with washi tape from the kit which allows it to hinge up to see the photos and reveals an invitation for the dinner we went to that night. 

Day 3.  A perfect example how photos don't have to be taken each day for this project.  I simple wrote down a few of my thoughts and it started snowing Sunday night so I included a few snowflake embellishments and strips of pattern paper.  

Day 4.  We had our first snowstorm overnight and had quite the accumulation of snow.  Of course we weren't exactly prepared and I made a 6 AM trip to the store to buy a snow shovel, ice melt, and new snow boots for my youngest. 

The journaling I typed up on my photo using Photoshop before printing.  I then used the chipboard in the kit and stickers to embellish.
