Pinners Conference

Hey all! We are almost into December and that means tons of holiday projects which I am so excited for!!! So I'm wrapping this month off with a pocket page using the Home Sweet Home Daily Diary kit along with some elements from the Apple Crisp Classic Kit. These 2 kits pair up so nicely it just makes sense to use them both on my projects!
I started off with a Design K Project Life pocket page. I love these because they have 4x4 squares which was perfect for including some of my instagram photos from my trip. Then I supplemented with other photos for the 3x4 spots.
Funny - not so funny at the time - story: on our way home we had a cancelled flight, changed flight, delayed flight, almost missed flight, you name it it happened while trying to get home. Then on the 2nd flight (after a 6+ hr layover and delayed flight and issues with our boarding passes) we get on the plane and they tell us that because of the delay they were not able to service the plane so they only had water...no snacks, no drinks. So I had a little fun with my 'NOPE' card since I was really hoping for a glass of wine on that flight!

There were several cards that, while I liked the card, the saying wasn't applicable for my page. So I simply covered those up with various embellishments from the kits to personalize it to my needs.

This green striped card had a heart on it so I covered it up with a chipboard leaf:

This card originally said 'so very blessed' and I covered the 'blessed' with a banner from the Pretty Little Studio cut aparts, then added the 'fun' thickers.

And the house card had a saying on it that I covered up with part of a journaling card so that I could add my own writing.

turkey day recipes

Well, it's the day before Thanksgiving! My family is casually watching tv while I'm prepping the desserts & Thanksgiving dinner for tomorrow. As I was going through all of my recipes, I realized I needed to get them into my recipe book. I have many recipes that I use year after year and yet have not made it to 'the official' book yet. And a bunch of printed recipes from the internet just isn't pretty!
A while back I shared the recipe book I started putting together for all of my favorite Christmas recipes and every year I add to it when I discover new favorites. So now it was time to get those turkey day favorites into a recipe book as well!

I pulled out the Apple Crisp Classic Kit along with the Home Sweet Home Daily Diary Kit to create my recipe cards.  I printed the longer recipes on 6x8 cardstock (because I'm using a 6x8 album for my recipes), the smaller recipes were printed on some of the 4x6 cards in the Home Sweet Home kit.
There! So much nicer having my recipes in an album that I can pull out when needed.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!!!

Run!

Hey guys! I'm back from a quick weekend trip to Disneyland. My son and I did the 5K, our first run ever. Now I am not a runner. I actually don't really like it too much. But I've always wanted to do a Disney run so we did it. And you know what? I get why people run now. I so want to sign up for another one now!!
So I wanted to do a quick and simple layout. I'm planning on making a small mini-album of the trip, probably from a travelers notebook, so I didn't feel like I needed to include a ton of photos on this page.
You'll also notice that I didn't pick Disney themed papes & embellishments and I did this for 2 reasons: 1) As I stated, I'm going to be creating a mini-album all about the trip and I'll probably go all Disney for that, and 2) I wanted to show that you don't have to stick to the theme of a kit. I took a very fall themed kit using papers from the Apple Crisp Classic Kit and embellishments from the Home Sweet Home Daily Diary kit and created a page that has nothing to do with fall (other than the fact that my even took place in the fall). And there you have it!

Quiet Time: Apple Crisp Classic Kit

Hi!  Sarah here with this week's layout and challenge.  This week we are using Pinterest for inspiration.  We each made a Pinterest board and used it as inspiration for a layout.  Here is a screenshot of my board.

My board and my layout have an Outlander theme...because Outlander...

Ok, technically it's about what I like to do for my down time, but we all know it's really about sneaking Jamie Fraser into my scrapbooks.  I like to get my girls in bed and get my house settled and quiet.  Then I make myself a mug of hot tea, light a candle and turn on a fantastic TV show that I love.  In this case, it's Outlander.  I pinned some greens and browns in my board so I used the papers to play off of that.

I also pinned some mason jars and the paper with the mason jars and flowers were perfect to tie that in.  I used a few die cuts to kind of make a collage type of design around my title.

I also pinned some cork items to my board and had some cork in my stash that I wanted to use.  It was great to use it up and add some good fall-themed texture.

I loved using this month's kit and it has helped me get into the fall spirit!

pumpkin patch

Hey everyone and happy last Wednesday in October! Hard to believe in just 1 week it will be November! I guess I'd better get started on my kids' Halloween costumes! lol

For this week's layout I used a fun color board from Pinterest with more non-traditional fall colors to inspire my layout.
There's not many blue items in the Apple Crisp classic kit so I simply found a few and sprinkled them in my layout. The pumpkin patterned paper offered lots of fun fall colors.
The doilies are from my stash and the rest is from the kit. Happy Fall everyone!

Football Life: Apple Crisp Classic Kit

Hi all!  Fall time in our household means college football time!!!  We are huge Georgia Bulldogs fans, both of my parents went to the University of Georgia.  I grew up watching the games and it has stuck with me.  I got my husband on the bandwagon as well and my girls love to see their mascot, UGA when he's on tv.  It's a big deal to watch the games on Saturdays.

Since the Georgia school colors are red, black and white, I took advantage of those colors in the kit.  The Prima paper was perfect for a background since it has a grey-toned marble look.  I used some reds and oranges as well to complement it.  I did pull a couple of things from my stash to pull it together such as the Georgia flair badges, the floral paper and some Tim Holtz distress ink.

The fall die cut was a great starting point for my title.  When fall comes around, we definitely get excited for football!

The white acrylic pieces were a nice little touch.  I cut one of the die cuts up that said "go outside / stay inside" and just used the inside part.  The other word strips emphasized staying home and watching the games.

I finished off the layout with the black heart circle and the gems from the kit.

Nice and simple and showing our love for the Dawgs!  Do you guys enjoy watching football in the fall?  If so, who are you cheering for???

fun at the pumpkin patch

Good morning!

Today I have another Apple Crisp Daily Diary kit project to share with you. I've also used some papers from the Apple Crisp Classic kit.

These pictures are from a recent trip to a local pumpkin patch. I forewarned my kids that I would be taking lots of pictures of them for scrapbooking assignments and they did not disappoint! I love that my youngest has tiny pumpkins on her eyes in the top photo.

My foundation for the page was a couple of pieces of patterned paper from the Classic kit- I love that Noel always has extra paper packs so that I can add to what I receive in the Daily Diary kit. For those who love the DD kit but do traditional pages more than pocket pages, this is a great thing!

I added some blue spray mist droplets around the page to contrast the orange and brown in most of the papers. If you look closely some of the papers have that same blue.

I used bits of patterned paper to fill in this cute flower diecut and added a cardstock flower and some twine and epoxy dot to the center.

The tiny Tim Holtz phrase stickers were so fun to use on my page! I used some on both sides of my page and added a few cork stars as well.

Have a wonderful day!

blessed

Hey guys! After spending the last couple weeks playing with the Frightful kit I'm switching gears and finally started creating with the Apple Crisp Classic Kit and it totally has me wanting to go to the pumpkin patch & do all the fun fall things!
For this layout I went a few years back and used some photos of my little one during a quick little photo shoot at this park that always has a wonderful backdrop of fall leaves. It's making me want to get back there and take some new family photos!

{Long Thanksgiving Weekend} with the "Apple Crisp" Classic Kit

Hello friends!  It's Monday, so it's Meridy here today.  We started putting out our fall decor this week, and this month's "Apple Crisp" Classic Kit has put me in the fall mood for sure!  I decided to scrap some photos from Thanksgiving weekend of 2016.

I decided to take a few "down time" photos last Thanksgiving break, so I could show what life is like and how we relax.  I think I will do the same this year.  I like to break up the "traditional" Thanksgiving photos and add some of these into my albums as well.

I really adore the pumpkin paper in the kit this month, it is a fairly busy pattern, so I decided to use a strip of it on a solid cardstock base.  A few more patterned paper strips across the bottom, and the base of the layout was complete.  Now for the fun part...

As you may know, titles with multiple fonts are my favorite part of the layout to create.  I love piecing them together like a puzzle, overlapping letters, and keeping the words close to one another so they look like they all "fit" together.  These gold Thickers with the blue edges are the bomb!!!

There are so many awesome embellishments in this kit, the chipboard, stickers, die cuts, glitter washi, and crystal dots were the perfect additions to my title.

Next, I added a coordinating embellishment cluster on the bottom right hand corner of the layout to balance the embellishments near the title.  I did a little journaling, and my layout was complete!

I would love to see how you are using your "Apple Crisp" kits on Instagram #NoelMignon.  Have a great week!!!

PSL Season: Apple Crisp Classic Kit

Hi everyone!  Sarah here with a layout using the October classic kit about one of my favorite topics...COFFEE!!!  More specifically, my precious pumpkin spice lattes.  I'm one of those people that want to line up at Starbucks at dawn for a cup of this glorious nectar.  This kit was perfect for documenting it.

This week we are challenging everyone to use some mixed media on your layouts.  I'm not big into mixed media, but I did take advantage of the fact that the kit came with some distress stain.  I used the stain and some coordinating ink to make some coffee stain images on the background paper.

Up at the top, I used a scrap piece of paper from the kit to make an extra cluster.  I used the washi from the kit along with a word strip and gems.  The coffee cup flair badge is from my stash.

I fussy out some of the wood images from the American Crafts paper.  I also layered some of the Jillibean Soup stickers (coffee cup and heart).

The puffy stickers from the kit are my favorite things ever!  The detail on them are amazing.  I used the coffee cup and the pumpkin to help emphasize the layout topic.  And the acrylic word helped to round it all out.

I just love this time of year!  I can't wait to continue making some layouts to document it using this kit.  We'd love to see what you're making with it as well!

trick or treat!

I am having so much fun playing with the Frightful Limited Edition kit! I wanted to use it to not only create pages but also a bit of decor around the house. I'm slacking on getting my Halloween stuff out so this little project makes me feel like less of a slacker!
I created fun little pinwheels with a few of the different papers by cutting 2"x 12" strips and scoring them every 1/2". I used 2 of these to create each pinwheel.

Originally I was going to use the whimsical gold thickers in the kit but ended up using the thickers in the Apple Crisp Classic Kit instead since I felt like they would stand out more.
I have a big chalkboard that I made that hangs in my family room and it's perfect for hanging my fun little handmade banners. I used some command hooks to hold the banner up and then used the bat clothespins to mask the hooks.
My 6 yr old came home from school & said "Mom, where did you get this??" When I told her that I made it she said "I love it!!" Score 1 for mom :)
I think it would also be fun to create a "harvest" pinwheel banner to hang up during the month of November from the Apple Crisp Classic Kit
