Christmas Ornaments with the "Gingerbread and Peppermint" Daily Diary Kit

Hello friends!!!  It's Meridy today.  I couldn't wait to break into my "Gingerbread and Peppermint" Daily Diary Kit this week.  Inspired by all of the pretty homemade ornaments on Pinterest, I decided to try making some of my own with my Noel Mignon kit this past weekend.

I started off with some vintage fluted Christmas cookie cutters and lined the inside of them with some of the paper from this month's kit, adhered with Eileen's Tacky Glue.  The smaller print on the 6x6 papers is the perfect scale for these tiny ornaments.  Next, I hot glued the trim that came in the kit on the edge of the diamond cookie cutter.  I dipped the edges of the star into tacky glue then red glitter.

I added the little bows that came in the kit to the ornaments with hot glue.  I placed some jingle bells on the tops to give me a place to string baker's twine to hang the ornaments from.

I fussy cut the word "Joyful" from the little cards in the "Gingerbread and Peppermint" Daily Diary Kit.

Finally, I filled them with little bits and pieces I have collected.  The deer came from a pack of small ornaments I found at Wal Mart this weekend.  The mini tree and holly came from Hobby Lobby.  I added a few beads to the tree to create ornaments.  You can find little bits and pieces of Christmas goodness in lots of places.

I had a great time mixing this month's kit in with some craft supplies to create one of a kind ornaments!

Thanks for stopping by!  See you next week.

{Happy Girl} with the Happy Together Classic Kit

Hello Noel Mignon fans!  If you were at the March kit reveal party on Facebook last night, you know we are up for some beautiful creations coming your way with next month's kit...but for now, I'm still getting plenty of layouts out of my 'love-ly' February "Happy Together" Classic Kit!!!

This week the design team is going to use the February kit for layouts and projects that are NOT Valentine's related.  The Noel Mignon kits are so versatile, that you can use them for all sorts of topics and themes in your scrapbooking, cardmaking, and pocket pages.

I decided to make a page for my daughter's 9th birthday party this week.

I was able to use the "Happy Together" Classic Kit, although her party didn't have anything to do with Valentine's Day.  It took place in the middle of July, and was Parisian themed.  But the colors of the paper and embellishments matched my photos perfectly!

I really loved the different textures in this month's kit, I used chipboard, embroidered lace ribbon, and cardstock die cuts as embellishments on my layout.  I even added in a few self adhesive sequins from a previous Noel Mignon kit.

I embellished my title with another chipboard sticker, one of the CUTE glittered bows, a flair button,  and painted the wood veneer "Happy" pink to match the colors in the layout.  I used the black Thickers that came in this month's kit for my title and continued using the adhesive lace ribbon and sequins to keep the layout looking cohesive.

I finished off my layout with a piece of vellum for my journaling, pink stitching around the entire page, a paper ribbon with part of the branding strip on the upper right hand side of the layout, and a few light pink mist splatters.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I would love to see what you are working on with your Noel Mignon kit over on our Member's Facebook Page, so please stop over and post your creations.

"Buttons & Bows" Classic Kit

It's Meridy here!  I've got a double page layout to share with you today using the "Buttons & Bows" Classic Kit.  This week the design team is basing their layouts on...buttons & bows.  So we were challenged to use any combination of buttons, bows, and stitching on our layout.  I decided to use all three!!!

This layout is also my very first attempt at adding water color paint.  I started by loosely laying out where I wanted to place my photos.  Since all I have left of most of these beautiful Fancy Pants "Millie & June" papers are a few tiny scraps, I placed them where I wanted them to go as well.  Then I could tell where the three areas were that I wanted to add a little watercoloring and just went for it.  I just wanted the watercolors to peek out from under the photos.  I am happy with it, especially for my first attempt at using them.

After the watercoloring dried, I began adhering my layers.

After everything was in place I began grabbing embellishments from the kit that coordinated with the colors in the photos.  I love clustering the embellishments on my layouts.  I try to keep a variety of shapes, sizes, and textures in each cluster so they all coordinate and balance one another out.

Finally, I decided to do some zig zag stitching to finish off my layout.  I decided to put the stitching across the top and again at each place where I used the eyelet trim.  I used light blue-green thread to pick up that same color in my photos.

Thank you so much for visiting today!  Come back all week to see how the rest of the design team use buttons, bows, and stitching on their layouts!

Picnic in the Park Crop Challenge #1

Hello friends!!!  It's Meridy here, welcome to our "Picnic in the Park" Online Crop.  Today is the first day of the crop and I have your very first challenge ready for you...

I think one of the most fun things to do during a picnic in the park is to fly a kite!!!  Keeping a kite in mind, I decided today's challenge is to use diamond(s), ribbon, and bow(s) on your layout.  Below is my layout for the "Fly a Kite" challenge.  I used the Noel Mignon May 2016 "Pure Bliss" Classic Kit.

May 2016 "Pure Bliss" Classic Kit

I cut a few diamonds from the Basic Grey patterned paper in the kit and used them as a repeating element across the back of my layout.  You can see how the diamonds sometimes fall off the edge of the page.  I feel like this helps your eye move around the design and keeps the layout from looking too confined and cluttered.

As you can see I grounded my photo with the coral ribbon in this month's kit, gathering it as I adhered it.  Instead of using a real bow, I used the bow paperclip that came in the kit!

A couple of other small embellishment clusters on the edges of the photo keep that photograph the focal point of the layout.

Everyone who finishes this challenge will be entered in a drawing for these cute Elle's Studio products.

To recap today's "Fly a Kite" challenge, use diamond(s), ribbon, and bow(s) on your layout.  Please upload your finished page to our Noel Mignon Members Facebook page in the "Fly a Kite" challenge album.  Also, keep in mind you do not have to use a Noel Mignon kit to enter your layout, everyone can play!!!

Check in tomorrow to see our next challenge and great prize.  We will have a challenge each day this week (Monday-Friday) and all of the winners will be announced on National Scrapbook Day--Saturday, May 7, 2016.  Thanks for stopping by!  I can't wait to see what you create!
