Grandma's Girl | Buttons and Bows Classic Kit

Hello! scrappers!  It's Laura Whitaker here with you today sharing a layout using the September 2016 Buttons and Bows Classic Kit!

We are having a sketch challenge this month which includes a prize! Play along with us by creating a project using my sketch, shown below. You don't have to use a Noel Mignon Kit to play along, but if you have one we would love that! Upload your project to our September Sketch Album for a chance to win a Buttons and Bows Daily Diary Kit!! The prize is for US RESIDENTS ONLY. You have until the end of the month to enter. One winner will be randomly picked so come join us.

Here is a peek at the sketch...

And this is my take on it...

I created this layout for a friend who became a new Grandma recently, I have been crushing over her photos of this sweet baby girl and just couldn't resist making some feminine pages!

The ombre background background paper and the floral inset are both the same piece of paper.  I loved both sides and this sketch made it possible for me to use them both, in a significant way on my page!  I cut the paper at 1.5 inches and at 8 inches, then I flipped over the centre piece and adhered them to a piece of cardstock.

I used a punch to add a scalloped edge to the green cardstock strips on either side of the floral piece and added some machine stitching once the pieces were tacked into place.

I used the eyelet lace to create a textural element underneath the horizontal fishtail piece on my layout.  I ran a loose basting stitch along the edge of the lace and then cinched it up and adhered it using Score tape.

I love these puffy gold words from the Fancy Pants Milly and June collection, I used pieces of the word "best" to add the extra letters and punctuation needed to create my title.

Once that was done, I moved on to embellishing.  I didn't really have a clear vision of where I wanted to go with that, so I played around with things for a while. I did love this suede bow, it is just too perfect!

And these little gold hangers are too darling!  You can see that I am still enjoying my bottle of enamel accents, too!

I pulled out a glittery tag that I had leftover from last months kit, it was just the thing I needed anchor this extra embellishment cluster that I added to my page.

I also added some gold Colour Shine from last months kit, to finish off my layout.  Love that stuff!

I created another process video for this layout, you can check it out below or here on my You-Tube channel!
