Our Right Now

Hi Everyone! Today I am going to share with you the LO I did for the last challenge-The Time Capsule-which actually didn't make it in time for the post, as our house was completely consumed with the flu! Ever since Creedence has started a pre-school setting, our home has had some sort of bug once if not twice a month! Not fun. :P

Anyway, I had a lot of fun doing this challenge. I decided early on that I wasn't going to use a photo for the LO, which was different for me and kinda new. But I was really excited about it at the same time! And it ended up being a lot of fun! I chose to make my own envelope with a letter inside (thanks to Michele for the idea!), which would take the place of the photo on the LO. This turned out to be more challenging than I had though as I couldn't find an envelope the right size at home to take apart and trace, so I had to come up with it on my own. LOL! I will admit it came up a little short on one side (still not sure how that happened :P), but I was able to work my embellishments to cover that little part up. :D

When I first approached this challenge, I was truly very stumped. The subject itself was a challenge. I am an emotion scrapper, not quite so much a fact scrapper. :P So recording the current prices of milk and gas and such, or talking about what is happening locally just wasn't something that I could ever see myself doing. Instead, I chose to talk about what is happening in my family right now. Specifically about a certian change in our family. (And I don't mean the addition on the way! :P) With my husband out of work right now, our family has had to make some drastic-but necessary and in the long run good-changes that have begun to make in impact on us all. This was a subject I was going to cover on one of my LOs no matter what, as it is so much a part of us right now, but this challenge was the perfect opportunity to do that.

This LO is a mix of Noel Mignon kits-Office Party and Sweet Sue. I used the Basic Grey Manilla Basics paper 'Brief' (from Office Party) to make my journaling card in the envelope. It was perfect for this. :D All the rest on my LO were scraps from the two kits-things I had cut out and readied for other LOs they just didn't make it on to, and selvage edges from a few of the My Mind's Eye papers. I layered all of these papers and cuts in several different ways til I was happy with the arrangement. I also added a few stickers-Melissa Frances (from Sweet Sue) and Basic Grey (from Office Party).

For being a challenge that I was very unsure about (and slightly dreading doing!), this turned out to be a LO that is very close to my heart. :D
Hope you all are well, and I will see you next Wednesday with some Halloween decorations!! :D Take care!
