Fall Decor Layout

Hi everyone! I am still working on scrapbooking *last* year's fall photos, are you guys as behind as I am? I took a bunch of Instax photos last year of the fall decor around my house: pumpkins, fall themed crafts that Charlie made, candy, etc.  I decided to pull out last year's fall kit, Willow Creek, and get to work.  I gravitated right to the Crate Paper tag cut outs and decided to make two banners on either side of my title, "Fall Decor at 16 Germania" (that's my address).

Fall Subway art

Hello everyone! I'm here to share my last project with the Willow Creek kit and final fall project of the year.

I've been admiring some subway art lately and decided to give it a whirl with my Silhouette Cameo. Here is what I came up with:

To create my art I drew a rectangle a little bigger than the opening of my frame and then typed different fall themed words in various sizes and fonts in the rectangle. For a little variety, I decided to add a couple leaves too.

Once the words and leaves were cut out, I backed each one with patterned paper. The deep rich colors in the Willow Creek kit were perfect for creating a fall feeling to my project. To finish it off I added a piece of fall flair from my stash. Make sure you check out the flair available in the shop, it adds the perfect little touch.

This was really easy (and fun) to put together. I can see switching this out seasonally for some variety in my home and it is a great way to use scrap paper too!

Just a quick stop by today to show you one last layout I did using the

AMAZING November Willow Creek kit:

 

This past weekend I was able to get TONS of photo's of my college kids.

I couldn't WAIT to scrapbook this one from a group of vintage

camera shots I got of them.

 

In this layout - everything I used is from the Willow Creek kit.

If you look closely - you'll see "leftovers" from an earlier layout this month.

On my "Epic" layout I used a half of a  sunburst I cut using my Silhouette Cameo.

I decided to keep the "negative" to use later.

Also - I used another "hello" (cut from my Cameo)

sort of like the one from my project last week.

Another thing I cut from my Cameo is the little camera die.

Antoher fast & FUN project.

Using Distress Ink to Make a Custom "Filter" for a photo!

Happy Black Friday! I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving! 

I wanted to show you today a really simple but cool technique to use the Tim Holtz Distress Ink that came in the Willow Creek kit. 

I had this awesome photo of my brother's family and my best friend's family from earlier this fall.

I took the Distress Ink Dauber and rubbed it all around the edges of the photo. This photo already had an "old timey" feel to it for some reason to me, so this technique was perfect for this photo. 

To finalize the look, I used a dark brown ink pad and rubbed it around the edges of the photo and adhered it (seen below): 

I love that this is done by hand and not digitally- and is SUPER simple to do as well! 

I also used Leslie Ashe's technique from last week to make polka dots on my background with the dauber and splatted a few for some fun dimension.

My lil' pumpkin...

My little pumpkin isn't so little anymore but when I ran across this photo of his first visit to the pumpkin patch back in 1997, I had to scrap it.

The colors of the Willow Creek kit were the perfect complement to my photo. I kept the focus on the photo by framing the top and bottom with small strips of paper, stickers and trim.

For the "hello" I cut the word from patterned paper using my Silhouette Cameo and then glued the orange Lawn Fawn twine on top. I think it really adds to the outdoorsy feeling of the layout.

All supplies came from the Willow Creek kit, which is still available in the shop, with the exception of the trim which is from the Boardwalk kit and the flair which was from my stash and is made by Shelley Haganman from {a flair for buttons}.  You can pick up a selection of flair in the shop!

Sparkle & Shine

Hello, hello everyone!

I'm sharing a fun way to use the Distress Stain in the Willow Creek kit. The sponge applicator tip makes it so easy to add a touch of distressing to your projects, like I did on this layout.

I simply rubbed the applicator tip along the edge of my layout, giving it a beautiful antiqued look. I also applied the ink behind my photo and embellishment cluster, creating a beautiful frame for my focal point.

For the finishing touch, I applied the stain on top of the cut-out flowers to age them and topped them off with sequin and pearl brads in coordinating colors.

I hope you will get the Distress Stain out and experiment with it a bit. It is really a lot of fun and so easy to use.

Good Monday morning, everyone!

 

Today I have a little tip to show you using all the goodies from the
November Willow Creek kit. In particular - the FUN distress stain that's in

the kit. I had SO much fun playing with it. 

 

Here's a layout I did using the stain, plus a couple of masks as my background.

The hexagon Mr. Huey mask was in the September Evening Stroll kit.
The arrows is a Crafters Workshop mask I had in my stash.

 

I used the stain on top of the masks and dotted, rubbed & pressed

to get the right effect I wanted. I then took a pen and drew around the

hexagons & arrows to make the stain stand out.
The leaves are the "outside" remnants of a layout I did a couple of weeks

ago here on the blog. I simply covered the cardstock I rubbed the stain on

and trimmed around the patterned paper, letting the arrows & hexagons show through.

I'm very happy with how fun & fallish my leaves look!

Follow Your Dreams

Hello, hello! Happy Tuesday (and Election Day for our U.S friends)!

Something extraordinary happened Sunday that has me really excited about my layout today. While I was editing photos my daughter came downstairs and ASKED if I would take some pictures of her. I glanced up and her hair was curled and she was ready to go. I said yes, of course and grabbed my big boy camera and we headed out the door for an hour of shooting. We had a ton of fun and I got some great shots.

This is one of my favorites...

I'm not going to lie...this layout was all about playing with paper and a pretty photo.  Not a story anywhere to be found, although I did include a great Disney quote. :)

Here are a couple close-ups for you.

All supplies are from the Willow Creek kit, except for the flair. Flair is one of my favorite embellishments and Noel has a great selections in the shop. Make sure to check them out and add a set or two to your next order...you won't regret it!

I'm here today to share my Epic Love:

a layout of my precious kiddo's using the Noel Mignon November kit:  Willow Creek

I used my cameo to cut a sun from the HS paper in the kit. I cut my sun in half & placed it

behind my sunshines - I mean kids. ha!
I like to TRY hard to come up with creative titles for my pictures. If I can't, I go searching

for poems, quotes, anything that will spark my brain to think of something to say.
Epic Love just came to me while looking at their faces in this picture. It's one from last fall,

(since I haven't seen them both together this fall - YET. I can't wait...just a few more weeks

and we'll all be together having Thanksgiving!)

 

Anyway - this layout was FAST to put together.
I also decided to just "dot" my paper with the distressed ink from the kit.
I kinda like how it splattered! I didn't mean to do that at all.

Gratitude Box

Earlier this summer, when we had Shelley Haganman guest design for us, I fell in love with this project she created in a berry box. I immediately went to etsy, bought some (I got mine here... but be forewarned. Lots of other cute stuff to see there!), and have hoarded them ever since. 

Now it's November, and I'm finally using one for our Gratitude Box for the month. I was inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Under the Sycamore, and her perpetual calendar. My box is just for the month of November, but I thought it would be a great idea to cultivate gratefulness (especially before all the "gimmes" that December can sometimes bring!). 

Everything (except for the box itself) comes from the Willow Creek kit- which I still have PLENTY of to make layouts and other projects with. I love that I can do a big project like this with one of Noel's kits and still have more to work with. 

My plan is to have everyone fill out a card... sometimes we'll do more than one person per card each day, sometimes we'll all talk about something we're thankful for as a family. The great thing about this is if I want to, we can add to it again next year with more cards. 

I kept my card design fairly simple, but still  had to embellish just a bit! And I love that Tim Holtz distress stain in the kit- it gives an awesome patina to my journaling cards!!!

Happy Thursday everyone!!

Are y'all suffering from a candy hangover? lol  I hope y'all had a fabulous Halloween.  I know we sure did. 
After we were finished, I was exhausted but still need to scrap my layouts for today's post (yes, I'm a MAJOR procrastinator...lol).

But once I got home and pulled out the new Willow Creek Kit I had a hard time FORCING myself to go to bed.  I went to bed waaaaay after my bed time last night for sure, but it was totally worth it.

This is kit has got to be one of my  faves (I'm beginning to think that I say that every month ;)  If you haven't gotten your hands on it yet, hurry, because there are only a few more left.

The first project I created is a layout on a very impromptu trip we made to a local mexican restaurant. I live in the country in Mississippi...this is kinda an rare thing to have one in our small lil town.  My family has recently discovered it and we are hooked.  I'm thinking that "99 cent Taco Tuesday's" might just be a new family tradition.

I included the receipt on my page, not only for the cost and location to be notated but it also was a plus because it had the date on it.  I also used some of Heidi Swapp's Color Shine in Chartruse and the AMAZING Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Scattered Straw.  That stuff is awesome.  I can't wait to get more colors.

My next layout I did of a screen shot of the weather once it got cooler.  Down here on the Gulf Coast, we don't get much of a fall.  So when the weather begins to turn, I begin to get absolutely giddy!

The "FALL" title is actually made with the washi tape that came in the kit and then I used some white and brown pens to color it in.  I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but it's growing on me due to the rustic-ness (is that a word? lol) of it.  Again, I used Heidi Swapp's Color Shine in Gold Lame' (if you haven't noticed yet, I love this stuff so much I've bought every color that Noel carries.  It's that GOOD!).  Not only did I use it for the blotches, but I also used a paint brush to brush it over the leaves.  It's hard to see in the picture but in person I love the lil glimmer it gives it.

And if that wasn't enough, I just knew the instant that I saw the Maya Road Felt Blossoms, that one, if not both, would become jewelry.  I used the ivory colored one for a pretty ring (that I'm actually wearing today) and I'm completely smitten with.

I just glued the flower to a ring base that I got at Michael's with E6000.

Puppy love!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be sharing my first layout using the Willow Creek kit! I love the rich, vibrant colors of the kit and decided to showcase some of the beautiful papers by cutting them into one inch squares and piecing them together, like a quilt.

For the flowers, I glued the Lawn Fawn twine, included in the kit, in a circle onto pieces of chipboard and added buttons from my stash to the center.
