P.S. I Love You

Hello everyone! I'm back with another layout using the fabulous February kit, Lasting Love.

I want to give you a little peek into one of the easiest (and my favorite) way to make a beautifully layered layout. Are you ready for it? Here it is...

Patterned paper that is designed and printed with a layered look straight out of the kit. Really! This one is from My Mind's Eye and they couldn't make it any easier. The design already includes a beautiful doily layered with embellishments in the top left corner and a variety of layered papers around the corners. The good news...they are often included in your monthly kit!

Here is a breakdown of how I add my own touches to create a layout with the pre-designed papers for bases.

Add some mist splatters (the dark pink/red is included in your Lasting Love kit) along with another doily to the background for your focal point (tip: fold the doily, if necessary, to get the desired size).

A photo matted on a couple pieces of coordinating papers, tied together with twine..

Next add clusters of embellishments around the photo. The contrast of the burlap heart and soft pink flower in the Lasting Love kit is gorgeous. I also added a couple drops of mist to the burlap heart for a more distressed look.

A fabulous title over the pre-printed doily and you can call it done.

Simple as that!

I thought the vintage flair was a nice touch to my layout. It was made by A Flair for Buttons and there is a great selection of flair in the shop, right here!

Happy Days Are Here

Hi everyone! Happy Monday!
It may be just me, but I feel as if this weekend just *POOF* disappeared.
I can't believe it's already Monday.

Today I'm here to share my layout that's based on the February sketch Julie made:

 

 

I used the February kit:  Lasting Love, which, unfortunately is sold out

at the present. BUT Noel has a Lasting Love paper only kit that includes

all the papers from the kit.

 

I LOVE the stamp in this kit. It's the cutest doily! I stamped it on bright

red ink from my stash & placed it several places on my layout.
I also decided to turn the My Minds Eye 3D title sideways to mimic the banner

 

on the left side, along with my simple journaling underneath.

and the kraft fabric heart - swoon. I LOVE it. I dabbed droplets of the Heidi Swapp

Colorshine on the edges for a fun final touch.

You Are Loved

Have you joined Vine yet? It's a new app for your phone that helps you create simple six second videos. It's like Instagram but with little videos. It's so fun! Leslie Ashe & myself are already on there... (you can find me as Mrs_Caulfield.) It's a fun way to show snippets of a project you are working on too- here's one I did this week of this project:

And below is the final project, made with the Lasting Love & Soda Shoppe kits (they combine well together!).

The little banners in the Lasting Love kit are so cute draped across a frame.

The words are painted with mist and a fine tipped paintbrush. I love the way the letters are different gradients. 

This little Valentine in a frame will be going to a teenage friend of mine. I think it's such an important age to be reminded that regardless of who is taking you out (or not taking you out!) on Valentine's Day, you are loved. 

My Little Spicy Girl

I knew I had to get the February Lasting Love kit (now sold out)...and as soon as I got it, I couldn't resist digging into it.

I save and sometimes even cut backgrounds with the Silhouette just to use as a mask.  I loved the contrast with the blue background and all the shades and tints of red, I decided to use that Heidi Swapp mist with a heart background.

I wanted to soften the look of the misting, so I sprayed some white Studio Calico on top...all over it...so let that dry good before going on.  It does leave that chalkiness, sometimes I'll seal it with gel medium or Mod Podge, but left it as is.

I have a stash of photos...and I've been pulling a few of Emma when she was either a baby or around two (secretly wishing she would not grow up so fast)...she was two and a half here and wearing her little Asian outfit with her favorite blue flower...we were headed to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  So once the photo was picked, the Asian flair took over.  I cut the cherry blossoms.  It is a group of 3 of them, but cut them apart, and adhered.  The cut out envelope was perfect too for the look and feel of an Asian layout.

 I used to rip paper a lot when I started scrapping...just starting to do it again, sometimes it just adds to the dimension to a layout.  And since there was so much on the layout, I did back it with another piece of white cardstock.

February and this photo of my daughter are bittersweet...just a few days after this photo, my Mother-in-Law died from a heart attack, on the 8th...and Feb 18th will make 7 years since my mother's sudden death as well.  My father and father-in-law are also gone.  I have so many emotions looking at this photo of Emma, and I think that is why I came up with the title "full of life."  She would have loved her grandparents, of course, but she doesn't miss them, because she never knew them.  With the emotions of that, I remind myself how much she is loved by family and friends.  She brightens up any room with that smile as well as our lives.  It's funny how so many emotions can come from one photo...

Oh, and by the way, the reason I call my daughter my spicy girl is because she was born in the Hunan Province where the food is very spicy ;)

So Many Of My Smiles Begin With You Two

Hello everyone!!  I am SO EXCITED to be back this week to share another layout with the GORGEOUS Lasting Love kit :)  I had taken this pic with my phone before my 2 sons & I went to go sledding in the inch of snow we got last week.  Yes, you heard that right, 1 inch - and we had a blast!!  That's what happens when you live in the mid-atlantic & are snow-deprived - you treasure every last flake & work with what you are given :)



I LOVED the Basic Grey alpha sheet - such a fun mix of fonts & colors!! I also added in some wooden alphas from my stash to complete my title work :)  The title was a quote I found on Pinterest - my go to source for great words!!



I was so in awe with ALL the fabulous embellishments in this kit - the burlap heart, polaroid frame, themed stickers, chipboard hearts, coordinating buttons, and pre-made banners all worked wonderfully together to create a fun cluster of goodies around my photo :)

Kisses for Daddy

I was so excited to dig into the Lasting Love kit. It is full of fun embellishments and the trendy pink and blue color combo. While looking for a love themed photo for my first layout I ran across one of our daughter back when she gave out kisses freely...and inspiration for my title hit, "Kisses for Daddy."

Here is what I did...

You know I'm a banner girl and the Basic Grey pre-stitched banner along with the doily and bottle cap embellishments were a fun combination.

I added some mist splatters to my background using the Heidi Swapp Cherry mist included in the Lasting Love kit along with a blue and white from my stash.

Using my Cameo I cut out an arrow and misted it with blue metallic mist. I finished off the center with a piece of flair. Check out the shop to add some flair to your next order.

Last but not least, one of my favorite details. The title drawn with blue metallic ink using the sketch pen feature on my Cameo with a thin font.

Love is in the air..can you feel it?

Valentine's Day is JUST around the corner. Hard to believe we just had Christmas!
We're celebrating love this week on the Noel Mignon blog
and I'm a sucker for love. Hearts are my FAVORITE shape ever. It's always fun

to use them - especially at Valentine's season...

 

Today I'm stopping by with a layout of love about my kids:

The new February kit is AMAZING. So full of love. You can make all kinds

of Valentine's projects - as well as just everyday creations.
I love this kit! But to be honest...I love ALL of Noel's kits!

 

I'm a cluster'er. (is that even a word?) I really am.
I love to cluster embellishments in groups all over my creations.

See? Proof - it's just me. It's fun!

I love them! I turned a couple of them upside

down to show the color on the opposite side.

also - you'll LOVE the Artisan chipboard hearts by

Pink Paislee! They are fun to color with the Heidi

Swapp Color shine from the kit, or just leave

them natural like I did here  on my layout.

I decided I wanted to go for the neutral look

with the pops of black, robins egg blue & some red.

My FAVORITE part of this kit is the gorgeous

lace envelopes Noel included. There's 2 in this kit.

I took mine apart and put my daughter in one and placed

the other one under my son's photo.
