{Lovely Maddy} Layout with the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit

Hello Noel Mignon fans!  It's Meridy here today with a double page layout using the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit and the paper add on.  There are still a couple more of the "Little Bird" Daily Diary kits in the store, so you can still pick one up!!!

I decided to do quite a bit of fussy cutting on this layout since the Maggie Holmes floral paper in the kit really lent itself to this.  I started by picking the background paper, and then began building up my layers and matting the photos.

Before adhering any of the layers of flowers and leaves down, I placed them where I thought they would look good.  I was able to move the pieces around until I got an arrangement that I really liked.

I used 2 different thicknesses of pop dots to create depth in the various layers of fussy cut flowers, die cuts, and stickers from the Daily Diary kit.

I added a few heart stickers and the cut apart labels from the kit to finish off the clusters of flowers.

My titles are very simple.  I used words from the Hazelwood sticker sheet in the kit and paired the "lovely" sticker with some Thickers from an old Noel Mignon kit I had in my stash.

I didn't do any journaling on this layout because the photos were simply from a family photo shoot.  There was not a real "story" to tell, I just thought they were pretty pictures, and I wanted to use the pretty supplies in this month's kit to reinforce the look and feel of the photos.

Love at First Sight | Little Bird Daily Diary Kit

Hey there!  Laura here with  a new layout to share today using the Little Bird Daily Diary Kit.  The design team was challenged to use a sketch this week, any one of our choosing!  I opted for sketch #302 over at Creative Scrappers (see sketch below) and modified it slightly to make it work with the Daily Diary kit that I am playing with this month, which includes a lot of pocket cards and 6 x 6 papers.

If you check out the sketch below, you will notice that it suggests that the design encompasses the entire page, however, since I am working with 6 x 6 papers I needed to shrink it down for my interpretation of it.  So my focal area measures about 6 x 6 with a 3 x 3 photo.  I have matted this onto some white cardstock that I added some inks, paint and mist to in pinks and teals.  And then I matted that onto white cardstock and a large piece of patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes "Gather" collection that I had in my stash.

I swapped out the locations of both the photo and the title on my page as well.  I felt that I could only really pull of a single photo for my compact focal area.  I loved mixing up the stickers from both the Hazelwood and Echo Park "Just be You" collections to create my multi font title - which you know I love!  I added a bit of machine stitching just for fun and texture.

I also had to shift the embellishment cluster on the lower right of my page over just a bit so that it didn't cover my photo.  But I was still able to keep the embellishment triangle in tact!  This cluster combines layers of stickers, flowers and pieces cut from pocket cards with some sequins and a button added in.

The embellishment cluster on the lower left is much more minimal as is suggested in the sketch; sequins, a sticker and a cut apart flag are just perfect here.

The cluster on the upper left also got shifted over slightly and tucked behind my focal area.  This cluster also features layers of stickers, pocket cards, a hand cut tag and some sequins.

{Me & My Brownie} using the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit

Happy Monday, Noel Mignon fans!  It's Meridy here and I have a double page layout to share with you today using the "Little Bird" Daily Diary kit, along with a "Little Bird" paper add on kit. 

This week the design team is using sketches as inspiration.  The sketch I choose is from Sketch Savvy, and it's called "2 page sketch #19".  Susan Stringfellow designed this sketch...

And here is my take on the sketch...

I started by picking out patterned paper to coordinate with each pattern in the sketch.  Once I got the "bones" of the layout adhered, it was time for me to pull out the embellishments.

I created a couple of different embellishment clusters on each side of the layout.  I started with the Hazlewood sticker pack, then fussy cut some of the papers (mainly the little bird paper by Crate Paper).  I also added some of the Reset Girls Label stickers, a journaling block, and epoxy hearts.  I finished off each cluster with a little strip of washi tape from the kit.

I took apart the glittered flowers that came in the kit.  I made them flatter, by peeling off the center layers, so they would fit better in the page protectors.  I replaced the centers with my own centers using a small flower punch.

I finished up my layout by creating a title and subtitle.  The subtitle "Me & My" uses letter stickers from the Daily Diary kit, I used Thickers that I already had in my stash to spell the word "Brownie".

Sweet Times | Little Bird Daily Diary Kit

He there!  It's Laura here with a new layout to share today!  The design team had an open week, so anything goes for us!  Since I am playing with the Daily Diary kit this month, which includes a lot of pocket cards etc., I opted for a grid design for my page.  I pulled in some 12 x 12 paper from my stash to act as my background.

The Pocket Cards from the Simple Stories Reset Girl collection have a fun vintage vibe, so I pulled out this photo of my oldest son, my mother in law and myself from way back in 1990. And as luck would have it I had a couple of 12x12 sheets of this collection left over from my Simple Stories design team kit, so they were perfect for my background!

I trimmed down my photo to 3 x 3 and matted it with some cream cardstock.  Then I trimmed down three 3 x 4 pocket cards to 3 x 3, as well.

I kept one card fairly plain so that I could add my title and journalling to it. Of course, I added in an embellishment or two, too!

This photo was challenging because there are so many different colours going on in it.  This was taken long before I thought about scrapbooking!  But I think I made it work.  You can see I pulled in the twine and the Heidi Swapp gold color shine from a previous Noel Mignon kit.

Each quadrant got fancied up, in some small or not so small way.  This one got layers and layers of stickers!

I cut this large ampersand from another pocket card and popped it up on this pretty floral card.  I  love the way it looks and it was a fun way to use it!

Snow day!

Hey everyone, Michelle here! I have a traditional page to share today along with a pocket page. I had a lot of photos from our snow day last week that I wanted to use so that's why I added a pocket page to go along with my traditional page.

For my pages I used the Little Bird Daily Diary Kit along with the extra papers that were from the classic kit. I absolutely loved that heart shaped paper and knew I wanted to cut that out so that's exactly what I did. I also added stitching around each triangle. It doesn't show up much in photos but in person it just adds a subtle amount of texture to my page. The silver glitter thickers are from a kit from last year and were perfect for my snow theme!

The pocket pages I used a mix of photos, journaling cards, and stickers. Love those epoxy stickers in the kit!

It was such a fun snow day! My dogs especially enjoyed it :) 

{Mommy's Little Artist} with the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit

Hello Noel Mignon fans!  Today I am sharing a 12x12 layout that I made using the "Little Bird" Daily Diary Kit and the "Little Bird" Paper Add On.  But first I want to share a photo of the kit, there are still a couple left in the store!!!

Isn't this kit just full of awesomeness!!!?!

I started this layout by blocking off the bottom half with the diamond patterned paper and the herringbone navy paper on the left hand side.  Next I built up the "love to create" card and the photo by layering them on some of he light blue paper from the paper pack.  I really loved the bright red Daily Diary card, but I didn't want to use the whole card on this layout.  So I cut it on the diagonal and created a partial photo matt and punched a heart out of the section that is behind the photo.  

I added a few really cute flags, tags, and tabs to embellish the 4x6 "love to create" card.  I also outlined a few various pieces with a thin red marker to bring in a little more red, and to make them stand out a little more.  I cut the lined paper I used for my journaling card from one of the 3x4 cards from this month's kit.   

I added a few splashes of mist since the pictures are of my son painting.  I thought the mist mimicked the look of paint splatters.  And finally, I added my title "Mommy's Little Artist".  The letters for the word "Mommy's" came from the sticker sheet in the Little Bird Daily Diary kit.  The red Thickers for the word "artist" came from my stash.  And that about wraps up my layout.  I love seeing you share your work on the Noel Mignon Members Facebook Page---I hope to see you there!  Have a great week.

Adventure Awaits | Little Bird Daily Diary Kit

Hey friends! This week the design team is challenged to create a layout that reflects our goals, resolutions, one little word or the like for the new year. Since I am not much of one to make resolutions and I do not really do much with my one little word, I opted to document a goal I have for 2017 - which is to have more adventure in my life.  Now I am not speaking of far away exotic adventures, but more taking time to get out and enjoy life a little more! And I really hope I remember the camera!

After giving some thought to the theme of my page, I struggled a bit as to how to document it. Then as I was sifting through my kit I was inspired by the 6 x 6 paper in the Gather collection that a grid of little rectangles. I found this photo of it in 12x12 format on the Scrapbook.com site. (Forgot to snap a picture of my piece.)

Anyway, I cut up the paper into the little rectangular pieces and started playing with them, spreading them around on my desk and laying out a grid design. Grid designs are a little out of my comfort zone, so I challenged myself to go with it!

There were 12 little rectangles on the page, so I figured if I added 4 photos I could do a 4 up, 4 across grid.  The next step was to sift through my massive amount of photos to find a few that spoke to my theme.  I didn't really pay much attention to the date they were taken as that isn't really important to my story. Instead I focused on what was going on in the photos and picked ones where I was on an adventure, whether is was near or far, or photos of people or scenery didn't really matter.

After printing the photos, and integrating them into my grid design by placing one photo into each row, my design felt a little too structured, so I pulled one little rectangle from each row, varying the position that I pulled it from.  This created a blank space, which to me felt like a little resting spot in the design. 

Once these main elements were adhered to my page, I stitched around their perimeter with my sewing machine.

Next, I gave some thought to embellishing, I knew that I could tuck small embellishments anywhere on my page.  But what about larger ones?  I pulled 3 large-ish stickers from the Hazelwood stickers sheet and removed one more rectangle from my spread and added in an extra column, for each sticker I would add.

After adding my journalling which I hand wrote on a scrap of paper and taped it to a little rectangle with some of the washi from the kit,  I then proceeded to add in small embellishments.

 I splattered on some gold and navy Heidi Swapp color shine to finish off my layout.

My layout was feeling a little blah and lost so I mounted in onto the pretty polka dot patterned paper from Echo Park (the back of the cut apart cards) that came in the kit.  All in all, I kind of like the way it turned out, and I only used 1 partial sheet of the 12 x 12 paper (as I gutted it) and 3/4 of the 6x6 paper - kind of fun when you think about it!

2017 goals

Hey everyone, Michelle here! This week we're talking about goals. And while I don't do the typical New Year's resolutions I do like to have goals that I set for myself throughout the year. And one of those for this year is that I would like to be more consistent with using my planner. Last year I did pretty good for a while, then fell off the wagon, then back on, etc. The weeks that I'm consistent with my planner I feel much more organized and a tad less stressed (for obvious reasons!)

So this year I picked up 2 planners, both Happy Planners. The regular sized planner will be my most used planner with the mini planner just as a calendar that I can throw in my purse. I much prefer to have a physical planner than using the calendar in my phone. Side note - last year I had all of the dates in the calendar on my phone just disappear. It was awful. Once again I was reminded why 'old school' is sometimes best!

So here's a look at last week's spread in my Happy Planner:

I was able to decorate a bit more since we didn't have a ton going on other than the whole back to school routine. Not every week is decorated this much, just depends on what I have going on and how much time I have to devote to decorating my planner. However, using the Little Bird Daily Diary Kit I was able to decorate pretty quickly.

And here's a look at my mini planner:

Pretty basic, I don't spend a lot of time on decorating this one. Just a little washi along the edges and a few stickers from the kit. I write notes in it as the week goes on. Like I said, this one gets thrown in my purse so I have important dates with me when I'm away from home (my regular planner stays home, either on my desk or the kitchen counter). 

I absolutely love the washi in this kit so I enjoyed using it in my planners! It will definitely be making another appearance in the weeks to come!
