Simple Pleasures

Good morning and happy Sunday to you! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you shopped until you dropped! My lil family and I are headed to downtown Chicago today to see the Christmas lights. I lied last week when I said it was my last post.....I was a bit off on my dates I guess. So today is my last official post for Noel. It is bittersweet to say the least.

I have a LO of my son using the "Dear Diary" kit. I recently took a picture of him eating corn and loved how blue his eyes looked and those dimples.......ahhhh those dimples..... : ) I was lucky enough to find another picture of him when he was 16 months old eating corn. I love being able to use older pictures and newer pictures together!
The title and the ears of corn were cut using my Cricut machine.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

American Honey

Have you ever heard a song that just touches you? The lyrics just hit home? My daughter graduated 8th grade this year and her teacher made a video of her with the song from Lady Antelbellum called, American Honey. To me it's a growing up and moving through life kind of a song. My daughter has special needs and has certainly done her share of growing up and changing. It causes that lump in my throat and my heart to ache. But that's what kids do......grow up. I wanted to create a special LO for her........and I used Noel's older kit called Love Story. I used Brit's fabulous idea to create these paper fans for dimension. (Thanks Britt for your very cool idea!)
Did a bit of layering with my Thickers.....
I cut the letters with my Cricut and used one of my stamps for the jar of honey.
......and the lyrics to the song.....
I have a lump in my throat today.......it is my last week here with Noel Mignon. I have been on this fabulous team for a little over two years. I am sad to go......but it is my time to take a break. I will still be hanging around the boards. I want to thank you, Noel for making such fantastic kits, and for being such a truly sweet person.

Halloween and Dear Diary!

Good morning and Happy Sunday to you! I am away at the moment on a scrappy weekend with girlfriends! There is nothing better than hanging out with my gals surrounded by a hobby I love!

Today I have a LO to share with you using the new Dear Diary kit (Only two left!!!). I adore the earthy colors of this kit! I used it to create a LO of my guys carving their pumpkins and a bit of Halloween baking too! I used sketch #59, from Inspired Blueprints which makes creating a LO so much faster! All the thinking is done for you!
I cut all of my circles with Spellbinder's dies. The journaling was done on the computer and cut into strips.
Lots of layering here..... : )
Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out sneaks of Noel's newest kit called, Bedford Falls, a FABULOUS Christmas kit!!!
Have a wonderful Sunday!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! I have a special post for you today! A LO of my silly little fur baby dressed as a Lil' Monster! He is seriously the most tolerant dog I've ever owned........and since I am one of those crazy dog ladies......thank goodness for that! I used last year's 31st kit! ENJOY!
The miniature monster was cut using my Cricut machine.

Hope you collect lots of yummy candy! Stay safe!

Playing Wii

Good morning and happy Sunday to you! Noel's challenge this week for us gals was to create a monochromatic LO. I am hoping I didn't "cheat" too badly by using a tiny bit of white! : ) I used the blue papers from the Sun-kissed kit to scrap my daughter playing the Wii. Her jammies were blue and I decided to match the papers! The title and Wii controller were cut using my Cricut machine. The flowers were cut directly from the patterned paper and placed on pop dots.
I used Smooch on the letters to give it some sparkle and shine!
The letters were placed on tiny foam dots!
I added Smooch to the controller as well!
I think I am a day early on the challenge......so consider it a little sneak peek and maybe you can get a head start on creating your monochromatic LO! ; )
Don't forget to pre-order Noel's newest kit, Dear Diary! : )
Have a wonderful Sunday!

My title was cut using my Cricut Machine. I crystal lacquered my title and placed it on pop dots.

Life in 2010

Hi all! This week the DT is hosting a fun new challenge called, "Time Capsule!" This is a chance to document the important things going on around you. Right now. Average prices, newsworthy items etc. I decided to use the Lemonade Stand kit to creat pockets for my different categories. I included National News, Local News, Prices, TV programs, Movies, Fashion, Hollywood, and my personal life.
I made little pull tabs with a circle cut in half and a brad poked through.

The butterfly was created with scraps from the kit. : )
I cut the title and the banner using my Cricut machine.
I hope you get a chance to play along with this week's challenge!!! Won't it be fun to look back at this period in time 20 years ago?

Parenthood

Good morning to you all! I have a LO of my lil' family today to share with you. It uses the "Office Party" kit. (sold out) I did add a few pieces from my stash, like the glassine bag to hold my journaling, the seam binding, and the crepe paper ruffle.

We all know that parenting is a tough job. Anyone who says it isn't is CRAZY! It is not all butterflies and rainbows.....KWIM? But at the end of the day.....these 3 other people are my life. The ones I would lay my own life down for.......
This cute little ticket from the kit was Glimmer Misted, given a few strokes of white paint, and inked in dark brown on the edges to give it a shabby feel. I used a Basic Grey rub on too!
My title was cut using my Cricut machine. I also added a Basic Grey rub on underneath.
My journaling reads:
Parenting is tough. Trying. Difficult. Rewarding. Heart Wrenching. Wonderful. Tiring. Aggravating. All of these things wrapped into one. Our little family was created 15 years ago. We could never, ever, have imagined that parenting could be so tough. We live together day after day, and there are times we can barely stand the sight of one another, and days where we laugh so hard our sides ache, and days where tears are shed and hearts are broken. We can drive each other crazy, or are driven into each other's arms for comfort. At the end of the day, this is where our hearts are. Just us. Our little family. And as a parent......I wouldn't have it any other way.

Be sure to check out Noel's Newest kit, Sleepy Hallow!!! A FABULOUS Halloween kit that will NOT last long!!! As a matter of fact there is only ONE left!!!!

Who Knew?

Who knew that 10 months ago I would lose my best friend in the whole world. Unexpectedly. Suddenly. What doctors took as an earache, turned out to be meningitis. 38 years old. Scrapbooking isn't always about birthday parties and Christmas celebrations.....sometimes it is about the painful things in our lives. Remembering loved ones we've lost. It immortalizes them on a page......forever. I found these pics of Jen with my two children in 2000. I love that they show what kind of free spirit she was. The kind of gal who loved life and would give her very last penny to a stranger. This page brought many tears, but also a big smile to my face just remembering. (Office Party kit was used for this page)
The title comes from the P!nk song, "Who Knew." Listen or read the lyrics and you will understand.
My absolute favorite picture of my Cortney with Jen. So sweet.

Layered flowers from the Office Party kit (sold out) with dictionary cut flowers.......
Remember to not just scrap those happy times, but also the sad, the bad, and the ugly. The future generation will appreciate a complete picture of who you are. I want my children to know that I was sad over the loss of their Auntie Jen......and I don't want them to forget her. Ever. Now they won't.

Summer Tag LO!

Good morning and happy Sunday to you! I have a little LO to share with you that I created for our Summer LO tag! Have you participated in one yet? It is a bit like the game "Telephone" where we start with one LO as inspiration and send it to one person. That person creates their LO and then sends their LO on to the next person and so on. It is so cool to see the progression! Want to see what I mean? Click HERE to see all of the fabulous LO's! I used "Sun-Kissed" kit for this LO of my cutie pie niece. She is such a ham in front of the camera that she wanted to pose with each body part. She was totally cracking me up! So here she is in all of her 3 year old glory!
I did lots of Glimmer misting and used my punches to layer the papers.

The banner was created using a small Quickutz die. My Cricut was used for the title.

Sign ups are taking place for Fall LO tag if you would like to play along with us! The more the merrier!
Be sure to grab your "Sweet Sue" kit too! There are only 7 left!
Have a great rest of your weekend!

Pure Joy....

Good Morning to you! Have you seen Noel's latest challenge? It is a fall/fashion inspired color challenge. I love all the Earthy colors of this color palette! I thought they would be perfect with these photos of my son riding a horse for the first time. I used "Sweet Sue" (only 9 left!), my Cricut, punches, and a bit of Glimmer Mist.
I sprinkled Glimmer Mist by taking the cap off and kind of "throwing" it at the paper. You end up with blobs....which I like! The stars were punched with my SU! punch and then backed with grey paper. I outlined the insides with black pen to make them stand out a bit more.

This stick pin was originally clear, which was very pretty, but didn't really match the mood of my LO. So I took brown alcohol ink and poured it over the stick pin to dye it. I added a bit of Shabby Shutters Stickles to the center of it.
Be sure to check out the other gal's beautiful LO's! Hope you can join us in this week's color challenge!
Have a great weekend!!!
