Cards with my Cricut

Good morning, friends! For the next challenge, we were to make two cards using a tool in our arsenal and I chose to use my Cricut. I also pulled out two old friends "Sonoma County" and "Sun-Kissed" to make my cards. Here's a peek at both of my cards...

For this sweet "baby" card, I used Sonoma County and the "New Arrival" cartridge. I also used a piece of vintage dictionary paper for my background. I love the colors in the Brook collection by Crate Paper for little boy cards...so cute!

And for this card, I used the Sun-Kissed kit and "Accent Essentials" cartridge. The sun was actually cut out of a piece of wood veneer by Creative Imaginations and misted with Maya Mist in Sunflower Yellow. I also used the Summer Squash collection by Jillibean Soup on this card.

Have a great day! See you next week!

a big hug for Pooh

We just got back from a trip to Disneyworld and the first pictures I wanted to scrap were of my daughter and her favorite character Winnie the Pooh. He's been her favorite since she was very little. It was so sweet to see my just turned 9 yr old still be so happy to see her favorite buddy!!

I used bits and pieces of 2 kits - Very Virginia (just 2 left!!) and the Sunkissed kit from last year (sold out). I also had a Winnie the Pooh book that I purposely purchased (probably at a garage sale or thrift shop) for just this purpose. I used a page as part of the background & also cut strips, punched with a border punch & made a cute flower accent.
As Pooh's friend Tigger would say, "TTFN! Ta Ta for now!"

Playing Wii

Good morning and happy Sunday to you! Noel's challenge this week for us gals was to create a monochromatic LO. I am hoping I didn't "cheat" too badly by using a tiny bit of white! : ) I used the blue papers from the Sun-kissed kit to scrap my daughter playing the Wii. Her jammies were blue and I decided to match the papers! The title and Wii controller were cut using my Cricut machine. The flowers were cut directly from the patterned paper and placed on pop dots.
I used Smooch on the letters to give it some sparkle and shine!
The letters were placed on tiny foam dots!
I added Smooch to the controller as well!
I think I am a day early on the challenge......so consider it a little sneak peek and maybe you can get a head start on creating your monochromatic LO! ; )
Don't forget to pre-order Noel's newest kit, Dear Diary! : )
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Summer Tag LO!

Good morning and happy Sunday to you! I have a little LO to share with you that I created for our Summer LO tag! Have you participated in one yet? It is a bit like the game "Telephone" where we start with one LO as inspiration and send it to one person. That person creates their LO and then sends their LO on to the next person and so on. It is so cool to see the progression! Want to see what I mean? Click HERE to see all of the fabulous LO's! I used "Sun-Kissed" kit for this LO of my cutie pie niece. She is such a ham in front of the camera that she wanted to pose with each body part. She was totally cracking me up! So here she is in all of her 3 year old glory!
I did lots of Glimmer misting and used my punches to layer the papers.

The banner was created using a small Quickutz die. My Cricut was used for the title.

Sign ups are taking place for Fall LO tag if you would like to play along with us! The more the merrier!
Be sure to grab your "Sweet Sue" kit too! There are only 7 left!
Have a great rest of your weekend!

Movie Inspiration

It is time for some inspiration!!!
Often times I tend to be greatly inspired by the movies
that I see now. To name a few there's the recent
Alice In Wonderland, Series of Unfortunate Events,
Avatar, and the list would keep going. All these movies
have a deep since of art to their making which moves me
in a very creative way. Another particular movie that
is so delightful is this one here!
Just look at this poster!!! TONS of color and little bits
and pieces that make you want to play. I chose to pick
up the little bits of the Julys Sun-Kissed Kit and play
along. Here is what I came up with using some wonderful
scraps!

There was a certain part in the movie where they opened
up a room in his store and it was full of bouncing balls!
There were balls of all sorts thus the idea to make a few
of my own.
If this post today inspires you go grab one of many movies
that inspire you visually and get creating!
On a side note if you haven't seen this movie GO GET IT!!!
LOL! I garantee you will enjoy!
As always thanks for letting me share this part of the day
with you!

Kit Item

Good Morning Everyone!! Amy here. :D Today I am going to share with you a LO using my favorite kit item!!! I actually have three whole packs of these but hadn't used any of them yet. :P So when I got my Sunkissed kit (sorry, sold out!) and saw that it had a couple of the Maya Road Kraft envelopes that I had been hoarding and wanting to use for forever-I knew it was time to finally use one! :D Love love LOVE these! And I still have tons more to use so I have to start thinking of ideas to do so.

But the LO I made only used one, I wanted it to hold all my journaling. This LO is actually one of my favs that I have made in a while! :D I really like how it turned out, and the colors from the Sunkissed kit were just fantastic so it really made this a fun one to do!

The patchwork background on the top was super easy to do with my sewing machine! I just cut the squares and rectangles out and lined them up-putting just a tiny bit of glue on the back in the middle. Then when they were all dry, I stitched up the edges! :D (I can actually see though that I missed two spots though! :P Looks like I'll need to fix that! LOL!) But what was fun was I even stitched the kraft envelope on! :D (Have I mentioned how much I love those little things?! :D) Then the bottom border was pretty easy. It is just strips of paper cut with border punches and then the freehand cut paper at the very bottom. That bottom one was kind of different for me but it was fun! :D Trying something new. Then the title, and a few minimal embellishments make the rest of the LO. :D The only time consuming part is the patchwork background. But the work is well worth the effort.

And here is a little close up of some stitching and the gorgeous flowers!

Hope everyone is having a great day!!! Be sure to stop by the Noel Mignon message boards to check out the sneaks for the new kit coming out soon!! The sneaks are gorgeous so far!!! :D

Seasonal Layout - Sunshine!!

So here's a layout that I did awhile back. I wanted it to be as summery and bright as possible. It was really important that I be able to match the colors in the photo while at the same time, bring out the colors of summer.

I used the stitched paper and 72 & Sunny papers by We R Memory Keepers in the Sun-Kissed Kit (sorry, sold out) and some awesomely adorable Cosmo Cricket Delovely Ready Set Chip.

These super sweet Thickers were just perfect for bringing out the "Sunshine" in the layout. Love em!!

Scraplift Challenge

Hi there again everyone!!! Today I bring some wonderful
inspiration by Deanna aka DMisner! I LOVE her fresh clean
style and knew that she would be the first on my list to
scraplift. Here is one of her fantastic pages I decided to
lift.

I chose this particular page because of the wonderful design
and placement of everything. The photo is absolutely perfect
as well.

Here is my page! I twisted it a little to add my own touch
but totally kept the design concept in tact. This was such
a fun page to do and it came together quite quickly. Every-
thing clicked with this one thanks to you Deanna! LOL!
Thank you also to everyone for letting me share!
Until next time have a fantastic creating time!

Frou-frou Color Combo

I've been digging on the beautiful inspiration boards at Color Combos Galore, and this recent one had me totally excited to use it with the Sun-kissed kit.
Mmm... so sweet & summery!
I used two layers of Jenni Bowlin Core'dinations cardstock and Shimmerz Mud Pie Spritz painted, flicked, and spritzed onto the background (both are from Noel's shop).
I sanded the cardstock, and then rubbed in some of the yellow Spritz from the kit... I dipped a paintbrush into the Spritzes too and painted it on in several areas.

I did some light stamping with the cute scalloped circle in the kit, to add a little more depth to the layout.

(The gorgeous scrunchy buttercream colored ribbon is from a past NoelMignon kit!)

You should check out Color Combos Galore if you need some inspiration- it will get you going right away!

Photo Tip!

This week's challenge was to create a LO based on some type of freedom that you have experienced. It was interesting to see everyone's different interpretations of this theme! Mine was based on the fact that my children are getting a bit older and don't need me to watch their every move. No longer are the days of crying babies that need to be soothed and rocked.....no longer are the days of chasing an active toddler.......and even though I miss those days at times, I am enjoying the fact that I have more "Me" time. I enjoy being able to sneak off into my craft room and do what I most enjoy. : ) To emphasize the fact that my kids are now 13 and 15 I chose an older color photo of the 3 of us and contrasted it with recent black and white photos. I love the color variation here!

I used the Sun-Kissed kit for this LO. Be sure to check out the newest kit, Office Party, coming out on July 15th. It is a fabulous kit that is sure to fly out the door!
Have a great weekend!!!

A Bit of Inspiration

One of my favorite online stores in Anthropologie. I have yet to purchase anything from there but I am always looking at their clothes and jewelry. Aside from the items you can purchase there, they have the neatest website layout and catalog. I drew my inspiration from their current main page on their website.

I liked the photo placement and the title on top of the photos. I also liked how they have a little bit of paint splattered behind the photos. I mimicked this by spraying a bit of my Maya Road Charcoal mist behind my photos. All items are the from the Sunkissed Kit (sorry sold out!) except for the butterfly and black gems. Those are from my stash. Here is my take on my inspiration piece...

What inspires you from the Anthropologie website? I would love to see your interpretation. Make sure to link it in the comment section so I can leave you some love in the gallery.

Have an awesome day!

Sketch Time!!!

Hi there everyone!!! Today I come to you with my very first
project/challenge post which I am very excited about.
I created this page using the Sun-Kissed Kit(sold out) and
then created a sketch based on my page.

Here is the lovely sketch! I wanted it so where everyone
can put as little or as much on to the page. I LOVE layers
so I layered my page up!!! Shuffle it, mix it, play with it and
see how it inspires you.
Please be sure to share your brilliant creations with us! We
love seeing your creations. See you soon!!!

Using the Kit: Journaling Tags as Flowers

I created this layout for the White Space Challenge on the challenge blog and the result is completely out of my element. I think it's good for me as a designer to experiment with different styles and ideas. Today, I wanted to show you another use for the journaling tags that were included in the Sun-Kissed kit.

I layered my journaling tag with several of the bright, glittered flowers, a button and tied it off with some twine. I love the scalloped edges of the tag and thought it would make a great flower.

The rest of my layout is fairly simple using the American Crafts chipboard thickers in the kit and the ribbon I tied off to highlight one of my photos.

I loved mixing it up a little and using an embellishment in a different way. Hope you are enjoying playing with your bright, summery Sun-Kissed kit! Noel's August kit will be available on July 15th!

And really just check out this party from Pen and Paper Flowers - GORGEOUS!  And so inspirational
And then here is the layout I created...

All items are from the Sun Kissed kit!  Really a perfect fit for this color combo!
