A Picture Perfect Kit

Hello Noel Mignon Peeps! Hope you're doing well. Lynn here to share my layout featuring this week's challenge "Ric Rac". Both the Classic and Daily Diary kits this month include lovely velvet ric-rac from May Arts that's self-adhesive! So, our challenge is to use it on our projects - easy peasy, right?!

I created a layout using this month's Picture Perfect Classic Kit. I chose a piece of patterned paper from Pinkfresh Studios to use as my background. The paper is so pretty on it's own that the layout came together so easily. I used a grid style design for my page and added the ric-rac in several places on my page. 

I printed my photo on my Instax Printer - I love the small polaroid pics. I added some die cuts, puffy stickers and a small piece of washi tape.

The ric-rac adds a nice textured look and feel to my page. The cute little birdie is from the Pinkfresh Studios puffy stickers included in the Classic Kit.

Project Life Wk 10 & A Process Video

Happy Monday!

Today I have a new Project Life Spread and a process video to share with you using the Noel Mignon Picture Perfect Daily Diary Kit

This week turned into a large spread with extra inserts

The kids had lots to share this week! One of my favourite things about looking through my past years of Project Life, is the addition of my boys artwork!

I did use several ribbons from my stash, to edge the pages

Also, this weeks challenge for the Design Team over at Noel Mignon, was to use the adhesive Ric Rac that was included in both kits!

 Its gorgeous! Its so plush, and its perfect to add the element of texture to your projects

Noel also included several Becky Higgins Inspire Project Life cards that were already stitched! How awesome are they?!

 I had fun creating this 4x6 card, using some of the Simple Stories Carp Diem 4x4 and 2x2 pieces that I stitched together along with a 2x2 photo I printed!

I will be honest, adding all these extra inserts, and ruffled up ribbons do add bulk to my album, but guess what? I don't care, lol! I love the element of texture it gives, and I love watching my boys look through my albums, touching it.

here is another 4x6 card I created using a 3x4 card and a photo printed at 3x4, then I just stitched them together.

I also added more of the adhesive plush ric rac to my date card, and I stitched some left over ribbon from my stash to the 4x6 card below

Taking the Challenge

Hello!

When I read about what we were going to have to do for this week's Leap of Faith challenge I was a little bit nervous.

I thought that maybe I could try some plaster of paris technique but that wouldn't really put me too far out of my comfort zone.

I stewed about I could try and decided to give pocket scrapbooking a try.

I am a cards and layouts type of paper crafter. I can do those okay, I think, but hadn't ever really tried with pocket scrapbooking but figured it couldn't be TOO hard, right?

Wrong.

I have seen the designers here and elsewhere do such a beautiful job with their spreads and while it isn't my favorite project to date I was glad that I rose to the challenge to try something new.

Here is my page:

I had some pocket page sheet protectors in my stash so I started off with that, trying to figure out how to create my design from there. I treated each 4x6 spot as kind of a tiny layout to feature these Christmas pictures of my girls. 

Because I had these tiny slots on the left edge I found bits of paper, stickers and other things to fill those up. I stapled the punched hearts together because I thought that looked better than the hearts in a big pile in the slot. 

One of my favorite parts of the Heart of Gold kit was the Crate Paper stickers. Some received stickers from a different line but I love that I got these ones! I used lots to dress up the title block and other parts of the spread. I also spiced things up a little with the silver bow, enamel dots, a wooden heart and lots of strips from the Pink Paislee washi tape book. 

I think this turned out okay for my first try at pocket page scrapbooking. I don't know that I will switch over to it permanently but I do think I would be willing to give it a go some other time.

You Got This // Leap of Faith challenge

I'm continuing on the Leap of Faith challenge this week and after thinking about it I decided to do a layout with no photos. Yep, not a one! It's something I rarely do, and honestly I think I've only done it once or twice. Usually it's because I don't have a photo to document an event or journaling that still needs to be scrapbooked. 

But this time it was more about a photo just not being appropriate. Sometimes life gets a little tough, stressful things happen, and so I decided to create a layout about that.

Anyway, creating this page ended up being a bit therapeutic actually! Almost like I was putting some of my stresses on that page and out of my heart. Boy, if it were only that easy to get rid of all the stress in your life, right?!!

It's a little difficult creating a page without photos because you have no base for your page. Usually your photos are what determine the direction of your page, right? However, that also turns it into something fun because you can just start adding patterned papers and embellishments & just simply have fun with the page. No worry about matching things to a photo or theme. And that's exactly what I did.

I added a bit of journaling tucked behind for privacy. That way when people are going through my scrapbooks my heart isn't all out on display for readers. I don't typically do pages like this so while it was a bit therapeutic to do I also like to guard my journaling a bit :)

And in case you couldn't tell, I used the NEW fabulous Picture Perfect Classic Kit!!!

My LEAP with Picture Perfect Daily Diary Kit

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the month of March and a brand NEW kit!

Exciting stuff.

This week's theme is all about taking a leap...taking on a new page design, or new technique...something out of my personal norm.

So as much as I do love trying new things....it definitely was a bit intimidating! Change...always a struggle, right?!?

So, what I did come up with for the challenge is a fun new way (for me) to use pocket page cards.  I decided to essentially create my own background pattern paper by combining the various cards and turns out...I love it!

Usually as much as I love bold colors, patterns and designs...I often find I do not implement them too often in my own scrapbooking.  However, after this challenge I think that might change!  I loved playing with the patterns and pops of color.  It really was fun and I think also a great way to use up those extra cards we all have lying in our stashes.

Once my background page was complete, I even added some subtle machine stitching.  Then I had fun adding in my photo along with some of the many awesome embellishments that made up the kit this month.  I am obsessed with the type word strip stickers! You will definitely be seeing them on everything this month.  I really had fun mixing and matching the embellishments and playing with colour.

I truly love challenges such as these that push me out of comfort zones.  I have definitely learned to "embrace colour more"...and patterns!  Really work at mixing and matching...it's fun!  I am loving all of the possible combinations and this challenge really has helped me creatively.  It was really fun bringing everything together.

Sweet Charlotte: Goodbye Glasses

Hello! It's Jana Eubank here to share with you my "Take a Leap" page for this week.

I don't know about you, but I have a really hard time scrapbooking myself ... heck! I have a hard time taking pictures of myself! Recently, I had corrective vision eye surgery and decided that I better get some pictures of myself wearing glasses, since I would no longer have to. The resulting page followed.

GOODBYE GLASSES

Lavender is one of my favorite colors to wear ... so, when I received the Sweet Charlotte Classic kit back in January, I was excited to see a few sheets of patterned paper in there featuring this color. At the time, I wasn't quite brave enough to use them for a page about myself yet, so I set them aside.

When this week's challenge came along, it gave me a good reason to put them to use! And I'm so glad I did.

The floral stickers, heart stickers, camera sticker, and Happy Day die cut all came from the kit and look great accenting my photos. I added in the chipboard Thickers and pink dimensional flower stickers from my stash.

I added my journaling to a older Dear Lizzy chipboard shape (5th and Frolic collection) I found in my stash. I kept things light and airy by writing in a gray ink. This helps to keep my photos the center of attention on the page. 

Even though taking selfies is a little awkward for me, I'm so glad that I took the time to record this moment in my life and to record my feelings about it. I definitely won't miss having those glasses on my face all the time!

Hello March, Let's Take A Leap!

 Hello Bloggers and Happy March 1st! Lynn here with a new project using the awesome "Heart of Gold" Classic Kit. In honor of Leap Year our week long challenge is "Take a LEAP of Faith". We are trying something new to us - a new technique or page design we haven't tried before. I have recently joined the planner craze so I thought I would used some elements from this month's kit to create some planner pages. I haven't done this with our kits before, but I'm not sure why. It's a great way to stretch these kits even more. I used many embellishments to decorate this weeks pages in my planner. Here's this week's spread in my A5 planner.

This planner is dedicated to my design team deadlines and blogging schedules. It's my creative planner. I have a separate planner for personal stuff - appointments, get togethers, etc. We received an adorable butterfly clip in this month's classic kit. I removed the clamp and replaced it with a paperclip to put on the top of my page. I layered washi tape and stickers throughout my layout.

 The epoxy stickers made great bullets for my lists.

I have left room for lots more documenting and then I can go back and add more embellishments later. I used some number stickers for the dates and they also added more pops of gold.

To tie the pages together I lined up some washi tape to carry it across both pages.

I will definitely decorate more planner pages with my kits and I hope this gave you some ideas for your planner pages so you can Take a Leap and try something new!!
