As I was trying to decide what to make for my project this week, I noticed that I had an empty spot on an end table in our family room that needed a little holiday cheer. I was also looking for a reason to use the wonderful Tim Holtz trim that came in the kit ... so, I decided to create a little Christmas house.
The cut file I used is from the Winter Chill set by SVG Cuts. I love this cut file, because it included icicles hanging from the roof and snow in the windows. How cute!
I used the boxwood trim to create little wreaths for the door and windows ... aren't they just perfect?! I loved that I could customize them and make them any size I needed for the different parts of the house. I added a gold Shimelle bow above the wreath on the bay window and a lime green enamel bow to the wreath on the door.
I wanted the porch to have a dark green roof, so I used my Cameo machine to cut out several scalloped border strips. Next, I added them to the house one-by-one trimming the strips to fit the odd angle of the roofline. It turned out pretty good ... better than I expected!
My house felt little lonely and bare so I decided to give it some landscaping, I handcut the snowy sidewalk from white cardstock and then used a Silhouette cut file to create the dimensional trees.
Tonight I will put a few battery-powered votive candles inside to illuminate it. The light will look so cute shining through the frosty vellum windows!
Do you have any home decor projects planned for Christmas?
